Fantasy Guardayen

Nature, the result of years of peaceful progress and bountiful resources.

The silence was broken only by her thoughts. Incendia made her way slowly through the dense forest, absorbing the essence of the wildlife surrounding her. The green leaves of tall trees and dense shrubs was a foreign concept to the Archmage. Valakut, the Molten Summit, had nothing of the sort. The ancient volcano was far too hostile for wildlife like this; the only colors to be seen at her home were the fiery reds and oranges of fire and magma, along with the dark grays and blacks of the hardened magma and rock.

It needs something, though...

Suddenly, a nearby brush lit up immediately with the familiar orange that Incendia loved so much. An intense heat wave hit the mage, but she was used to it. It was comforting after being surrounded by the cool forest for so long. After a moment, the light died out and once the crackling of the fire came to a halt, all that could be heard was the soft laughter of the woman who caused it. Left where the brush once grew was a small mound of ash, smoke slowly rose from the pile and was lost in the thick canopy of the trees.

That was refreshing.

Incendia wasn't used to being this far from the Molten Summit. She was easily three moons' walk from her home, and she was completely alone. She set off in search of the one thing she found truly inspiring: dragons. Near her home, dragons were virtually non-existent. The human development in the area had pushed most other species away, including the ancient dragons. Though she was distressed when she realized that the large winged beings had left, there was no better location in the realm for an Inferno Magus stronghold than Valakut, so against her own desires she stayed. It's for that reason, though, that she continuously adventures outward to find these mystical beings. She had caught wind of a dragon's cave somewhere in the area, and she was determined to find it. She also knew that this area was occupied by a good number of elves. Encounters with the elves always amused the mage. She loved more than anything watching an elf run with a small flame burning at their shirts or hair. The thought alone was enough to make the mage chuckle to herself.

Sarezar was hateful, and murderous to every race, hating how they look, how they act, everything about them, they deserved to be struck down by him, however he knew when to not do anything to those he determines pose no threat. He trekked through the forest, felling trees that were in his way, keeping himself on guard, in case he may be ambushed. He had heard a roar that sounded like it was from an Orc, so he decided to find it, annoyed by that sound.

Though she wasn't sure, Incendia could have sworn she heard something. She stopped dead in her tracks, listening closely. Sure enough, the sound of repeated crashes could be heard far in the distance. What could possibly be making that sound? It was obviously something large. The talk of a nearby dragon immediately got the mage's mind working, and she did not hesitate to begin to try to track the noise. Her step was sped up slightly, but she did not run. She instead chose to calmly make her way towards the source. What worried her is that the source also seemed to be moving, perhaps faster than she was, but things like giants and dragons aren't exactly known for their land speed. She felt she was fine, and as such she continued to look around the foreign forest surrounding her as she walked, glad to finally have a purpose.

The human army was vastly outnumbered by the elves and vastly out skilled to there fighters and archers. They needed mercenaries, if the campaign was successful 500 sovereigns and looting rights would be paid out for each victorious battle the merc participated in. Vast numbers of mercenaries were hired due to the incredible price and promise of elven loot.

Buras found a clearing big enough to land in, so he landed. Tucking his wings neatly beside his back, he begins to walk through the woods. Nothing would bother him, except some more foolish humans if they jump out of a bush. He would be able to see many things from the ground, including that blasted elven village. He was getting hungry though, and needed something to eat. So as he walked, he kept a look out for something tasty to eat, may it be an animal or a plant.

Sarezar sniffed the air to continue his trail, catching the scent of a human. He quickly changed his direction, growling under his breath, he absolutely hated humans, wanting to eradicate them for every mistake they've ever made.

The egg had been taken by a meandering traveler from the cavernous nest where it lay. The cave itself had been abandoned, and the small runty egg left behind. It was a silver egg, with white marblized lines decorating it's curve. The egg stood about two feet in height, and a grown man could fit his arms around it and clasp his forearms together holding it. The traveler kept the egg wrapped warmly in hide satchel he hung over his back and sought to sell the egg in the nearest city. Dragon eggs were rare, if it was living then royalty would be his clientele, if the egg was a dud then a nobleman would find it a good meal.

He walked along the road that passed through the elven wood, the sun high above the trees, shimmering down in golden beams of light between the leaves. An elder man, yet strong and proud, his steps carried him along, while he hummed. He was warm and kind at heart, but he did have a family and he'd been extremely excited by his find and thought immediately of the gold he'd gain by the sale of the egg.

Buras saw the man wandering through the woods, and though he disliked humans, grew curious. So, he made his way to him, an old human in the middle of elven woods, not the best idea. Stealth was not for Buras as he walked up to the probably terrified human. "What do you have." Buras asked as he noticed the satchel the man had.

Grum looked at the tiny goblin, "I am da friendliest of da clan". Grum heard the noise from inside the cave end. "Well, if you plan on runnin now is gunna be the time, Goblin, or you gunna haz a Hardskin on ya, with a Big Tooth followin". Grum motions to the Goblin "Your da leader here, lead" Grum quickly readies himself up for anything that is about to happen. The Goblins were a weak people but having a Shaman of Grum's quality, Grum thought to himself, they could be quite a scary force.

The traveler looked up and up, his eyes gradually getting wider as he stared at the lumbering form of the dragon in front of him. His jaw dropped and he was paralyzed with fear. The satchel.....? He thought with confusion, then realized what the dragon had meant. Giving a squeak of fear, he immediately assumed this would be the mother of the egg he'd snatched. Shaking, he lowered the satchel with the egg inside to the ground, "S...Ss...Sorry...look...yae can take tha egg back" He replied tremulously, stepping slowly backwards.

"My egg? HAHAHA!" Buras laughed at the man. He was obviously close to emptying his bladder. "I am not one of it's parents. Is there a hatchling in there, or is there not?" Buras asked, trying his best to calm the man, well as good as a very large dragon could do. If this one did have a hatchling, he would gladly buy it off the man, he was not cruel, he might even raise the hatchling himself as a proper dragon. If not he would let the man go on his way.

"I found it. Ina cave to the narth of here." He said, still fearful of the dragon. With shaking hands he opened the satchel to show the grown dragon the egg within. "The cave was well abandoned I'm sure, I dinna know if the beast inside lives." He said without thinking, looking down at the silvery egg speculatively. "I'da design to take tha thin to sale."

"Well your a smart man, selling a dragon egg. But if there is something in there, I would gladly buy it off you." Buras said. "How do two of my loose scales for it. You could sell those for about as much as that egg is worth." Lowering his head to inspect the egg, he marvels at it. He could remember what his egg looked like, dark brown, almost black, with veins of gold. His was much bigger than this one of course. "Easy way to tell if there is something in there, start a fire and see what happens." As he said this he gathered a few sticks and leaves into a small pile before shooting a small bolt at it, setting it on fire.

Dartag thought for a moment, "Orc will protect us." He readied his warriors once again, about 30 of them, and waited there, "Right?"

Dartag was beginning to feel trust in this orc, he called his hunters and told them to go gather food, "We have feast for new friend." He was proud of befriending an orc, if he was now a friend.

Grum laughed loudly, Goblins would be helpful on his quest for enlightment, maybe he could learn what weakness was from them. "Do you have a name Tiny Leader, or are you just Goblin?" Grum questioned, still feeling bad about the cave he was by inhabited by a Hardskin and a Big Tooth

"Name is Dartag. Leader of clan." He was proud of this fact that he had been a leader for this clan. He had ruled this clan for his life, being the son of the former chief. His beliefs were confirmed when he saw this orc, that not every orc was evil and would eat his members. Dartag tried to make conversation with the orc.

"Why you leave clan?" He asked, hoping not to raise his hostility.

The merchant jumped as the flames consumed the thick branches the dragon would see as sticks. He thought of the scales and knew exactly who would pay a fair price for them, and more than he expected for the egg. Still, he'd spent many years haggling over price and he wouldn't let an opportunity go to waste, even with a dragon.

"How does 4 o' yer scales sound?" he said cheerfully, as he lifted the egg in his arms carefully and took it to set beside the fire on the ground. He stepped back to watch, his hands placed firmly on his hips as he thought of how happy his wife would be if he came home as successful as he hoped he'd be.

The silver marbled egg sat for a long moment beside the fire, with nothing happening. So long that the man became worried. The warmth started to seep inside the egg to the little one inside and she felt herself come alive with confusion. All she'd known was cold and darkness and here, it was getting warm. Her wings tried to unfurl and fell against the shell and she pushed with all her might to crack it with her clawed forefeet and her head until finally, she literally fell out of the egg and rolled to the ground. She shook her head tiredly and lifted it, blinking against the light that made it too blurry to see yet. Pale blue eyes focused and looked around slowly as she became more aware of her everything around her.

Incendia continued in the direction of the sound, unaware that the dragon that was the source had changed direction. Of course, she was always weary, but she wasn't very afraid of anything. She knew the power that the dragons posessed, though she also knew the power she could manage. She was young, true, but she was an incredibly strong mage nonetheless.

Buras' eyes widened as the hatchling tumbled out of the egg. He knew something would have happned, but not it hatching on the spot. With only a slight hesitation, he pulled four scales from various spots on his body and dropped them near the man. "It is worth it. If you find any more eggs, do the same thing, and take care of any hatchlings you stumble across. I will leave you now, and I suggest you do the same." Buras said as he gently scooped up the hatchling and gently placed on him. Forget the village, forget fonding food, he had to care for this youngling, his instincts demanded him to. Either that or he was being old.

Sarezar continues to trample trees, his path leading directly towards the human he smelled, smoke pouring from his nostrils as he prepares to fight the human, however strong it may think it is, as he laughs to himself at the thought of a single human attempting to take on a dragon. He eventually spots the human, and approaches, nearly knocking a tree onto his target.

"The Spirits came to me, me follow them" Grum opened his palm and a small light appeared in his palm. "The spirits be leading me somewhere, beyond da great plains even" Grum looked around and was examining the cave entrance, Hardskin and Big Tooth were yet to leave, maybe Hardskin was Big Tooth's food. "Where you all heading?"

"That nice." Said Dartag, "We go were there's food and where no humans or others hurt us." He enjoyed this orc's company, and was not about to turn it away, "Does Grum know where food is for clan?" He asked in anticipation, waiting for the response.

He does also however have a clan to attend to and that's what matters the most is his people.

Grum smiled, and touched the ground with his hand, a pulse echoed in the spirit realm as Grum felt for life in the vibrant of the forest. Life was everywhere, there were deer, rabbits, and other hunt-able wildlife, but looking harder Grum was scared to see Big Teeth, Hardskins, and Forest Spirits wandering about, dangerous for his new allies. Telling about berries and other game to hunt to Dartag, the Orc continued his probe of the area. Grum was always hesitant to do this, because the Forest Spirits could tell where he was, and many knew they were dangerous when provoked, Grum thought of their name they called themselves...Elves.

Aria was still walking about as she sung through the trees. Picking several herbs as she walked along Aria felt the breeze go through the strands of her hair. Her blue eyes scanning to see if there was anyone who needed her help. Skipping along the unmarked path Aria sung out loud a song.
