Story The Legend Of The Riders

Never Forget Your Destiny....

Long ago there was a single kingdom, Asteria, where dragons and humans coexisted. There were so many people who rode dragons and formed bonds with them and connected their lives together intertwining their hearts and mind. “Riders” they were called, they formed a bond with a hatchling dragon to whom they were born to ride and in a glorious ceremony connected their hearts forever and their minds. A mark placed upon their body in varying parts to symbolize their status. The kingdom prospered and none had a want that wasn’t fulfilled. The kingdom was whole.
Until King Averlade ascended the throne. Unable to form a bond to a dragon and his mind poisoned with hate, jealousy and wickedness, he sent the his soldiers of death rampaging and retrieved every Rider brought forth by the markings that once gave them life was now twisted into meaning their death. In killing the Rider the dragons who bonded with them died along side them feeling every ounce of pain and knowing all the fear their counterparts experience. The blood shed led to the extinction of the dragons and the Riders.
The kingdom broke up into four parts soon after. Averlade taking the Northern ice Kingdom now know as Vernon while three more took the Southern forest and prairie (Olympia), western tropical (Jaqure), and Eastern desert (Waccon) kingdom. Many who survived tried escaping Vernon but Averlade forbade any entrance from outsiders and those who were left were unable to leave still held in misery to this day. While war continues to rage on amongst the kingdoms many live in fear some still holding out hope for a savior.
Although widely believed to have died out some still whisper the stories of the Dragons and their Riders. Hoping that one day they will emerge stronger and will bring the world together as one ending the war and putting an end to Averlade making the world prosper once more!

Although thought to be dead dragons still live on, hiding in plain site in the natural world around them away from humans. There are those who still can connect with these beings, if they can find them that is.
A Rider can ride a dragon that is not their born to be dragon but it is very difficult and they will never have the same connection as those who were born connected. When A Rider find their dragon they can communicate with them via thought and an electric charge runs through both of the beings searing the symbol somewhere onto their bodies, symbols are personal to every rider and dragon pair. Riders are only ever connected to one dragon all their lives. When a Rider dies so do their dragons but when a dragon dies the Rider goes insane until they ultimately kill themselves. Riders can be male or female and their dragons can be either or.

Dragons are large and have wings, they are varying in color depending on their power and abilities. (Ice dragon=blue, Fire dragon=red, light dragon=gold, shadow dragon=black ect.) their humans get a small fraction of their ability but not nearly as much as the dragon. The stronger the bond the stronger the dragon and the rider are together. Dragons can speak telepathically to their rider and one another. They are able to take a humanized form once a certain level of bonding that is very rare is obtained through unwavering trust, love, and loyalty towards their rider and their rider towards them. To be able to fly they must be perfectly synced to their rider and they can feel each other’s pain and emotions.

(Only three Riders are available, and four dragons as I am a rider.)
