She sat in her room, looking for something to wear at the reaping, which began at two in the afternoon. She was getting tired of the reaping coming around and wished that it would all just come to an end. But her wish probably will never be commanded, not as long as the capital has anything to do with it. A soft sigh passed over her lips as she pulled out an all white dress, along with white flatted shoes to match. She sat those items on the bed then turned to her door as a knock came over her door, her mother stuck her head in.

"Are you alright, dear?" She asked in a sweet tone. Her head nodded as she couldn't really say anything at this point, the only thing on her mind is the reaping that was nearing closer and closer with each passing minute and second. Her eyes shifted from her mirror up to her clock as she briefly checked the time. She glanced back into the mirror, her face tells the story that she hasn't slept in days. She combed her blonde locks of hair and applied make-up to her face, making it look a little better. She got up from her seated position and left her room, walking into the dining hall, where her mother, father and little brother was sitting.

"Ah, how are you doing, Elise?" Her father asked her in a cheery tone. Of course he was cheerful, he didn't have to go to the reaping but shouldn't he be terrified for her - Not going to happen. Elise eyed him before answering. "I'm doing alright. I see that you are well." She tried her best to smile but couldn't bring herself to do it. Her father scoffed at her response to the question then quieted down. She sort of firm nodded her head at him, knowing that she did indeed shut her up. Her mother brought a plate over to her but she waved it away.

"I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't do anything right now." She said while placing her head into the palm of her hands. Maybe she doesn't have anything to worry about because being apart of the first district, she has been training for this since birth - Not literally. She scanned her family, who had all of their eyes placed on her. Elise sighed and got up from the table and went back to her room, closing her door behind her.

Within that moment and time, she glanced back over at the clock and it was almost two. She scurried to get ready because she didn't want the peacekeepers to come and get her from her house and throw her in jail. Elise looked over herself in the mirror and smiled but then wiped it away quickly. She tied her long blonde locks of hair up into a high ponytail then nodded her head in approval while leaving her room and walking back into the dining hall, her families eyes piercing through her skin, once again.

"Well, off to the reaping I go." She said while hugging everyone even her little brother, who wasn't eligible for the games but had one more year before he is. She sighed and watched as her mother started to cry, Elise promised that she wouldn't. She had to stay strong, not only for her family and herself, but so that the people don't see that she had been crying and automatically deem her weak.

She wondered if she could catch up with her childhood friend and walk with him to the reaping.

Elise walked towards his house to see if had left yet or not.

With two PM nearing quickly, Parker lay in his bed staring at the ceiling. He didn't quite fit into all the combat specialists here in his district and it bothered him every year. Worried him into a panic usually. The Elixon family were firm believers in a passive lifestyle, choosing entertainment over violence. The family of performers had great skill, but none of it could really be seen as a winning skill in the terrible "sport" known as the Hunger Games. Every year, these thoughts bounced around in his head. Yet, this year... he felt different. He was worried of course, but he wasn't letting it get to him. He was tired of the panic. The Games sickened him, and this year he wasn't going to give it the pleasure of his obvious fear... if he could hide it.

Outside his room came the sounds of his family dancing and singing with as much joy as they could muster. The noises were loud as his family was large, and so was their family home. Being performers, the Elixons made quite a bit of cash, but Parker tried not to let himself get spoiled by it. He wished he could join them in their dancing - knowing they were doing so to lift the family's spirits on this awful day - but it seemed too hard today. with a large sigh, he eyed the clock near him, noticing it was time to get ready. He quickly got up and stretched his entire 6'0" structure, running a hand through his messy, dark red hair. It hung lightly into his eyes, but it never bothered him. Choosing not to honor the day, Parker picked a simple gray shirt and sweat pants he used when practicing free-running that were slightly torn. Opening his bedroom door and walking down the stairs to the house lobby where the family was gathered, some of them looked up to him and smiled. "About time there, Parker," his uncle Rick chuckled. Both of his sisters were near his uncle, seemingly clinging to him. This year was the first year they were both eligible for this sick sport. The thought of his sisters in the horrible arena made him nauseous. As he reached the bottom of the stairs, his father came to him and put his hands on his shoulders and gave Parker a sympathetic smile. They stared at each other, seemingly try to say something but somehow conveying all conversation through their expression. Parker hung his head again and pulled his dad into a strong hug. As they stood there, the singing around them from his sisters, grandma, grandpa, and mother slowly died off. He and his dad hooked arms around each others shoulders as they walked to the middle of the lobby. "Just one quick 'Elixon Cadence'?" His dad asked a moping Parker as they stood in the middle of their gathered family. Parker nodded and gave his crooked smile. He would give this some effort in the last few minutes before he to take his sisters to the awful reaping, so he began to sing their families signature song as they all joined in.

A few minutes later, they all smiled and looked to Parker and the girls. Young Laneyah and Haley were terrified, but he knew how to protect them from this awful event, and would do so if he had to... although that thought made him sick as well. After quick hugs from his family, he stood in front of his mother and stared at her. She had her arms crossed to show she wasn't planning on hugging him, as well as showing only a grimace on her face. "Protect those girls... you understand what I mean?" She told him. He rolled his eyes as he slowly turned away. "Of course I understand..." he felt a little insulted that she thought she had to tell him. Of course she felt that way. He turned toward the door to see his sisters giving a last hug to their loving uncle. He approached them and laid a hand on each of their shoulders several feet below him. "C'mon girls, it'll be alright." A few minutes later he was out the door with his little sisters, feeling the depression in the air weigh heavy on him as the doors opened. Parker's head was hanging low again, but it shot up as soon as he noticed his close friend approaching, a grin appearing on his face from ear to ear. "Elise! I..uh, good afternoon." His family was taught to smooth talk with their trademark 'silver tongues', and Parker prided himself as the best in his family at it... but when it came to Elise, his words didn't come out as gracefully. He would like to blame the reaping, but he knew that wasn't the problem. "Are you ready to go?"

Elise had nothing more on her mind but the reaping and the fear that her name might be getting called today. She didn't want to think about it anymore but couldn't help it at this point since the reaping was coming up in a few minutes. Her eyes peered over the looks of the other kids and she just wanted to cry, since it is there first time to stand there in fear with there name being called. Elise had let out a soft sigh and kept her tears in while turning to the side after hearing someone call her name out. She saw that it was Parker, who was walking with his darling sisters. She looked somewhat relieved but had to hide the fear from them especially Parker.

"Hey Parker!" She screamed out while offering a small wave and walking towards them. "Hey Haley and Laneyah." She leaned down and gave them both tight hugs still keeping her tears in. She got up and looked at them with a smile. "You guys look beautiful..." She leaned down again and whispered. "Better than Parker." All of three of them laughed. Elise looked up at Parker while getting back up to her feet and smiling. "So, today is the day. Today is the day that we haven't been waiting on." She exclaimed jokingly while eying Parker again. "Hey, Haley and Laneyah, why don't you guys go and walk with your friends." She pointed at a group of their friends and laughed lightly while watching them skip together.

She walked alongside Parker and looked at him. "They are so cute." She said softly towards him. Her eyes turned away for a moment then turned back up to him. "Are you worried?" She asked. "If one of them get picked, I'll volunteer for them." She smiled a little then bit her lip, realizing what she had just said. She would really have to think about it before just volunteering for them but she would never tell Parker that. She let out a soft sigh while running her fingers through her blonde locks of hair.

Her eyes looked up at she saw the Peacekeepers up ahead, the people getting their blood and names and she even saw the stage up ahead. "Parker, I don't think I can do this again." She said while walking and standing in front of him, stopping him from going any further. "I think the jail would be better than this, don't you think?" She asked but didn't really want an answer to the question. Elise sighed then gave Parker a tight hug before turning around and continued on walking. The closer and closer she got, she slowed her pace and felt like she was going to be sick. Speaking of being sick, her eyes looked to the right and she saw a male completely passed out. She quickly turned her head away then saw the long line that was moving rapidly.

Elise looked around and you can see the exhaustion on people's faces from not sleeping, starvation on their bodies from not eating and the fear of realization setting in of that it was time for the reaping. She had never seen the District in such shambles before and it nearly broke her to pieces. She turned back to see if Parker was still near and gave him a soft smile but she was actually scared and nervous. 'Damn Hunger Games.' She thought to herself while being the next in line. The male behind the desk just basically snatched it and pricked it. A soft ouch left her lips then she rose her finger up to her mouth and began sucking the blood. "Name?" He asked her and her mind went instantly blank. The male asked her repeatedly for her name, getting pissed by the minute. She smiled down towards him and shook her head. "Uhmm, sorry, it's Elise." He rolled his eyes and wrote her name down then looked back up at her with a slight attitude. "Now, see, was that so hard?" He pointed her in the direction of where she need to be but she already knew that anyway.

She turned around and waited for Parker.

She saw Haley and Laneyah and gave them the old there is nothing to worry about speech then hugged them both so tightly while sending them on their way. She sighed while getting back to her feet then continued waiting for Parker, who she has a slight crush on but would never admit to it unless he does. She giggled at the thought then when he was pricked and gave his name, she went by his side. She wanted to tell him that she liked him but didn't know where to start. "Parker..." She said his name softly. "If I get picked, I want you to know that..." She couldn't even tell him because the horn had sounded for everyone to file in line and Peacekeepers came over and separated them. She gasped as she looked over her shoulder at Parker then looked towards the Peacekeeper than had her by the arm. 'Thanks a lot.' She wanted to tell him.

Elise stood there and waited for the reaping ceremony to begin.
