Fantasy The Dark Inquisition

The year is 2036, and the shadow world of magical creatures and those who practice the arcane has joined the modern one. That's right, witches, Lycans, vampires, elves and demons are all real, along with many other mythical creatures of legend. Of course, the modern world wasn't ready for them to come out of the shadows. They were first revealed during the winter equinox on 2012, when several of the magical barriers hiding their secret abodes inexplicably stopped working. At first people panicked, and nations tried to figure out what was going on. The magical community wasn't prepared either, and many had reacted badly on both sides. The situation started to spiral out of control when certain groups from both sides began fighting over territories and resources they both claimed. Many nations were consumed by an internal conflict with magical communities.

Then in 2017 the U.N. came up with a solution to the magical 'problem'. They had secretly captured embers of most magical species over the last couple years and studied them. This caused them to come up with a solution to this new world crisis. The IDMCS, or International Department for Magical Suppression and Control. The IDMSC was armed with advanced technology designed to counter magic, and the weapons and knowledge of myths and legends past. They were also granted international immunity to the law and the ability to use or search any government’s facilities and law enforcement agencies to complete their mission. In half a decade they had crushed several magical communities into submission or extinction. By 2030 they'd driven most magical creatures back into hiding. But the hunt continued as the public cried out for the end to the "magical menace".

Of course, after over a quarter century of the struggle, the magical communities that still existed outside of IDMSC influence were going extra lengths to hide themselves, and they had made an agreement to cease communication with each other. Each community got rid of any way of locating other communities from their own, and would only send out a message if they were discovered by the IDMSC.

The IDMSC continued to hunt down rogue "magical menaces", but they found less and less as the magical beings retreated back behind their shields, and into their new communities. This is where the Dark inquisition of the new world has led to, magic is illegal and users of it are considered dangerous enemies of humanity.

In this RP everyone is going to be members of the magical community of the London underground. One of the few communities that avoided discovery during the eclipse. The biggest problem with magic is that, when the sun comes up, it's very limited. Creatures such as vampires, ghosts, demons and such have to hide from the sun or be destroyed. Others, like lycans, elves, witches and warlocks, powers are greatly weakened by day. Lycans can't even transform into their animal forms, and most spells rely on the light of the moon to power them. Plus, the IDMSC has ways of tracing magic, such as captured Lycans with implants, and talismans from old mystics that vibrate when magical beings are nearby.

There are five different magical creatures that I’ve come up with at this time. All magical creatures live long lives. If you want to be something not listed, pm me and I’ll work on whipping up information on it and edit this post

Witch/warlock: these are humans who were born in a magical community and able to channel magic. Many witches and warlocks have given up using magic due to the recent conflicts and tried to integrate themselves into 'normal' society. Others try to live in their current communities or try to fight the IDMSC. Witches and warlocks always work within a specific specialization of magic, a school and two of its four sub-categories.

Lycan: lycans are pretty much their usual selves, humans afflicted with lycathropism. Every Lycan is able to transform into a single beast. This beast can be any natural animal, and their form will be human sized. They can transform only during nighttime, and their strength waxes and wanes as the moon does. In their human form they are often stronger than 'Norma' humans, and they always have the heightened senses of their beast form. If they're in their beast form when the sun comes up though, they immediately transform back to their human selves. There are both 'true blood', children born of Lycan mating, and new blood, those who are bit, lycans.

Silver causes a deadly allergic reaction to Lycans, and any wound caused by the metal will regenerate at a fourth of the speed a normal wound would. If silver is within a Werewolf's body they cannot regenerate at all.

Vampire: Everyone should know what a vampire is. The blood sucking fiends of the night, they are relatively unchanged from the mythos, but they cannot shape shift, and can only control bats and wolves and such if they know of the creatures presence (not werewolves) During the day they must rest and if they enter sunlight the begin to burn and will be completely destroyed in a matter of minutes. There are both 'true blood', children born of Vampire mating, and new blood, those who are bit, Vampires.

Holy symbols and holy water will hurt them, and a wooden stake through the heart will kill them instantly. Garlic acts like chloroform to them, knocking them out rapidly. A wooden stake through any part of them prevents their regenerative powers.

Elf: Elves are creatures of nature incarnate. They appear human other than their amazing grace and beauty, plus the pointed ears. They rely on magic and martial disciplines to survive, and most if not all of them live in the few remaining magical communities across the globe. They have suffered perhaps the most at the hands of the IDMSC as they have no true way to hide their nature when among humans. Elven magic is not nearly as powerful as that of witches and warlocks, but it does not require a specialization and is therefore just as effective during day as night, and in all sorts of situations, unfortunately all elves have one school that they don't have access to.

Cold iron burn elves on contact, and the virus that causes lycanthropy and vampirism are fatal to them.

Demon:
Demons are creatures of corruption of a certain of the four primary elements and a specific emotion. Although not necessarily evil, they do tend to be violent and boisterous. As creatures of Corruption, they react to sunlight much the same as vampires. Unlike vampires they aren't forced to rest and still able to use their powers during daytime. They usually appear as huge humanoids, with their physical features resembling their element. They, more than any other magical beings have fought the IDMSC on every turn.

Holy items are fatal to demons. Their regenerative properties don't function when they are in close proximity to holiness. They are also immune to 'pure' forms of their element.
