"Everyone don't forget to meet in the courtyards for the semester opening camp outs and BBQ something for everyone. The new pools are open and so are the sun decks. Yes yes, you will have your name and room numbers posted in the next day or two now go have fun, have fun." urged a sweet old lady collecting papers.

"Geeze Nims don't chew their ears off " Kia teased the old lady. "Can I grab you anything to drink or snack on?" Kia twisted her hair around her finger waiting for a response eager to get in and check on her pops. He probably didn't need it being who and what he was even being blind but still he was all she had other than Nim and we'll her adoptive siblings.


"No dear go check on your pops." Nim finally replied she was getting slower too.


Kia headed into the gate and towards the main house. The main house housed her, the twins and Lei's rooms, the main office the meeting room and records office. It was the original Father Lei's Home For Gifted Youth but that had grown into a small community housing and dorms through donations and fund raising. It helped the non-human kids and community it was a safe haven.


"Pops where you at?"Kia called out.


"Over here Kia help me get these plates out. We're are your brothers?" Lei asked


"I haven't seen either of them since this morning." Kia answers brushing her hair out of her face. She picks up a sack of paper plates and carries them outside.

Edward looks at the forms in his hands, making sure he filled them out correctly before taking them to the main office window. He looked very uncomfortable in this environment. He's not use to this much sunlight, or this much sound. He let out a long sigh and turned to look around. Where am I supposed to go...? He looked around for any sign that would tell him, but he soon gave up and just started walking around his little area, trying to remember what was said.


After about ten minutes he was angry with himself and just went out a door, and found himself outside, blinded by the sunlight that seemed to burn his eyes and flesh. "Damn it..." He mumbled and took a few blind steps, but he forgot that there were steps into this building a slipped down them, landing on his hands and knees. Blood bubbled up on his flesh and he groaned, sitting back on his butt and licking at the blood on his hands. Copper flavor... He wiped his hands on his jeans and bowed his head. "Good start... Good job Edward."
 



Toy:


"Ahh what you do in on the ground there"


:leans down and assists Edward with standing:


"Steps aren't the best place to take a rest about here. Are you photosensitive? Here take a step into the shade that better? Can I help you in some way?"

Edward tried to look up at the girl, but the light hurt his eyes. He covered his eyes with his hand and sighed. "Tripped." Was all he said. He wasn't good with people. Any type of people. He stood up with her help and leaned into the shade, cracking one eye open to peer at the girl. His eyes were a haunting violet color.


Edward stayed silent, allowing his eyes to attempt to adjust. "Lab rat." He pointed ad called himself.
 
Toy: Ahh don't worry your not the only one that is a Lab Survivor we have a support group that meets Wednesday evenings if you're interested. Did you need help finding your dorm or Cabin?
 
Let me grab Frost or Blaze and they can show you around the men's living complexes I would get my brother but he's a bit intimidating to new arrivals.


:disappears inside for a moment and returns with a pale haired young man:


Toy: This is Frost (on cs pg) he will help you to your room and show you around the men's facilities.


Frost: This way sir. Do you have any bags you need help with?

Edward rubbed his palms together when she left, his nervous tick starting, where his fingers twitch. As she came back, he looked at the man and shrank back a little. "Hi" He mumbled lamely.
 
Frost: :Quiet as he normally was understood not being as perky as Toy:


"Hi, come on dude this way." :leads Edward towards the photosensitive facilities : "I see they have you in the photosensitive facilities, I'm light sensitive too. So is dad and Kia oh and our friend Rain actually I know quite a few photosensitive individuals if you would like to meet a few."


:they stop in front of a large building that reads N100-N600:


"Well here we are." :escorts Edward in:


"Elevators are in the main lobby, handicap accessible rooms are through those doors"


:gestures to door on right:


"It appears you are in a single room, nice your own apartment pretty much. So that is on 400 level did you need be to show you up?"
 
Edward follows at a distance, not liking people in his personal space, and preferred to keep a distance. He stopped behind him. Edward opened his mouth and spoke the most he has since arriving. "Thank you for your assistance. I am not really photosensitive. I have spent the last nineteen years of my life in a cage, in a facility that didn't let us out or even see light." He said this all while avoiding eye contact. His fingers twitched at his side. "I think I will be fine on my own from here. Thank you Frost." Edward turned on his heel and left quickly, moving as though he needed to run from a monster.
 
:scratches his head confused:


"Ok must be a transitional placement then hmm. Don't be afraid to ask if ya need anything. Just go to the main office. See ya later Edward."


Frost called after him not totally sure he heard but didn't really want to face the Wrath of nim.
 
Edward pushed the up button and waited. "That guy was nice.... I think..." He looked confused. He didn't know "nice" people before.
 
Kia: :sees Frost on his return:


" Go grab some plates, cup or plastic ware dude your supposed to be helping dad set up"


Frost : "Sorry Toy came and got me to show a new guy to the 21 and up facilities, he's pretty skittish. I think her perky personality kind of spooked him a tad." :runs and grabs stuff from dad:


Lei: "Ahh yes Edward he is with a Laboratory to Real Life Transition group. They arrived today, I trust you made yourself or us available for assistance if need be Frost?"


Frost: "Yes sir, and informed him of the gym facilities and pool"


Lei:"Good Job Son ok now let's get these loaded into the side by side and down to the food area so we can finish setting up. I trust your feeling better Kia since you snuck out of the hospital yet again?"





Kia: : stays quiet and keeps working as if she didn't hear which everyone knows is impossible with her heightened senses:


 
Edward got in the elevator and his the 4 button, he then sat in the corner of the elevator and clasped in on himself. He held his knees, his head bowed into them, resting his forehead against them. He hated closed in places, but didn't know where the stairs were.


Edward started freaking out, hyperventilating. Once the door opened, he crawled out on his hands and knees. Once out, he colapsed into a ball and tried to control his breathing. All he could hear was his own blood filling her ears. And the sounds of children screaming, and crying in pain.
 
Kia awoke in the clinic bed grumbling as a tall romanesque nurse opened the window.


"Come Kia up dear you are free to go."she breathed in an airy note.


Kia: "Thank you Lavender , I will see you later"


:stands and watches as the nurse leaves the room before c hanging clothes:
 
Elihu was walking around on the 4th floor, his pet, whose name was Lux, was following him. He saw Edward curled up on the floor and approached him. "You..." He paused, thinking about what would be the right word to use. He wasn't quite accustomed to the English language yet. "You ok?" Elihu asked Edward quietly. @RavenWing13
