The Ballad of My Contraband Salvation
By: Krist Munoz
I never knew I could fall for the softness of one’s lips
And the frosty touch of their fingertips.
The falling of a chest
And the warmth of their breath.
I never knew a substance habit could come in different forms
Like the curves of your arms,
The comfort of your laughs,
And all your quirky photographs.
A representation of my delicious sins,
Can you feel the hell fire
That leaves me to further desire
Your salvaging skin?
I never knew paradise came at the height of five seven
With horrible jokes, and a smile that takes me to heaven.
We share silences of affection and peace
Which are music to my ears, a true masterpiece.
I never knew you could fall so much with just a look
After all, that was all that it took.
Those whiskey eyes
I’ll drink to my demise.
Fumes of redemption,
A smoker already damned.
Embers of resurrection.
My absolving contraband.
I never knew that some people are too beautiful
For my pen to describe in a way that’s suitable.
Upon meeting you inside of me something simply clicked.
Soon enough I became quite the addict.
I now know someone can be a drug,
And a dependence can grow like a writer and their coffee mug.
I now know someone’s flaws can be as gorgeous as a clementine,
My dear corazon, I hope you enjoyed my cheesy valentine.
