This, by many of the people who read it, is not a MA style but just a set of advanced lunar charms.

I gave my opinion in-text of the style, I would love opinions from you people.

Leviathan

-------

This here is a highly experimental set of charms. I wrote them as a martial arts style, and when I was done I realized Lunars just won't have one formalized. Lunars /never/ specialize, as their barbarian teachings tell them. It's stupid in their eyes.

So! I changed things around, to make this style a) fully compatible with their techniques and B) As useful out of combat as it is in combat, covering a broad range of lunar life.

Opinions should be highly objective. This is not a regular Celestial martial art, neither does it conform to the usual guidelines in CMA creation. If it offends you to think of this as a MA, you can imagine these are just advanced charms for lunars. In a sense, that's what they are.

Enjoy

Name: Moonlit Paths of Silvery Prowess.

Level: Celestial, only Lunars can learn this art.

Weapons: None, claws and fangs granted by gifts and charms count as unarmed, as well as all weapons from Moonsilver Array below.

Armor: None.

During their long exile, the elders, with fond memories of the glories of the first age, had to lead their kind to adaptation and survival in the harsh borders of Creation. This style was created as a natural enhancer of everything that is lunar in essence, boosting multiple facets of life of the Chosen of Luna.

This style emulates lunar essence and its flow through Creation, from the essence that guides the hunter to that which shifts its shape to accommodate changes in reality.

Only lunars can learn this martial art, for its essence manipulation is nothing but an enhancement on their techniques.

The style is comprised of five independent "paths" (Some consider these to be not martial art charms, but really extensions of the regular techniques. However, only those with the dedication and meditated approach to studying can learn those, usually, they are martial artists), each enhancing a different facet of lunar life; those few who mastered all of the paths attain a higher level of mastery. Rumors tell of ancient lunars who managed to reach even higher into the lunar essence and affect creation in ways other lunars can only dream of.

Today, less and less lunars practice this style as the elders dwindle and die, the knowledge leaving the world with them, and those who remain choose their students carefully, sometimes not taking a student for as long as a century, not finding someone worthy of this technique.

In order to learn this style, a lunar must impress and gain the complete trust of an elder of the silver pact, not an easy task.

Also, through their time in exile, the lines between martial art and regular techniques blurred, and today no orderly teachings of this style independently exist, all or most charms rely on previous vast knowledge of lunar essence channeling techniques. If ever playing in a First Age setting, null the charm prereqs for the style.

Path of the Moonlit Hunt:

Call of the Heart's Blood

Cost: 5 motes

Type: Simple

Duration: Hour

Minimum Essence: 2

Minimum Martial Arts: 2

Minimum Perception: 4

Prerequisite charms: Food-Scenting Method (E:L 170)

The lunar sniffs the air, currents of lunar essence spreading from her in every direction, charged with the lunars own experience and expertise.

The lunar automatically senses, for a scene, the relative locations of all animals of which he ever drank heart's blood in a range of his essence*100 yards. This does not include other lunars in beast forms.

Also, all exalts with essence perception or all other lunars may roll Perception + Occult with a difficulty of the user's essence to know her own location, backtracking along her essence.

Example: Blue Beak the changing moon has the heart's blood of a Raven, an Eagle, a Rabbit, a Jaguar and a bear. When activating this charm, she will automatically sense all bears, rabbits, ravens, eagles and jaguars in a range of 3*100=300 yards from her person. All essence perceptive exalts and all lunars in that range roll Perception + Occult diff 3 to know where the lunar is.

Hunt of the New Shape

Cost: 5 motes, 1 willpower, 1 XP

Type: Simple

Duration: Until the next sunrise

Minimum Essence: 3

Minimum Martial Arts: 3

Minimum Perception: 4

Prerequisite charms: Call of the Heart's Blood

This charm may only be activated when the moon is rising.

The martial artist commits herself to the ritual hunt, naming her intended target, animal or man, and spending the necessary cost. She then howls her devotion to the moon and instantly, until the morning comes, gains knowledge of where the strongest of that animal's species in a range of his essence*10 miles is, or in the case of a human, if she's in the above-mentioned range, where she's located.

Lunars applying this technique are considered brave, as this charm automatically leads them to the most powerful specimen of a species, and often makes the hunt dangerous.

Path of Dancing Moonsilver:

Ripples in the Moonsilver Pond

Cost: 3 motes

Type: Reflexive

Duration: Instant

Minimum Essence: 3

Minimum Martial Arts: 4

Minimum Dexterity: 3

Prerequisite charms: Snake Body Tech (E:L 137), Bending Before the Storm (E:L 163)

The martial artist learns to utilize the hypnotic movement of moonsilver in its liquid form, always bending around danger, never fleeing or taking the strike directly.

The martial artist spends 3 motes and may reflexively dodge a single attack with her Dexterity + Martial Arts rating (Essence is not added to this dodge as it derives of Martial arts and not dodge). This can be activated only against attacks the character is aware of.

The character may only move up to half his movement rate in a turn she uses this charm. If she already moved more than half his movement rate, she cannot activate the charm.

Bottomless Pool of Moonsilver

Cost: 6 motes, 1 willpower

Type: Simple

Duration: Scene

Minimum Essence: 4

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Dexterity: 4

Prerequisite charms: Ripples in the Moonsilver Pond, Wary Swallow Method (E:L 162)

Internalizing the lesson of the moonsilver pond, a chosen of Luna may emulate the pool's ever-accepting nature in all his movements.

For the rest of the scene, the lunar may dodge all incoming attacks, aware or otherwise, with his full Dexterity + Martial Arts pool. However, he is limited to a number of dodges equal to his essence every turn.

Path of Shifting Reality Perception

Recreating the Iron Torment

Cost: 2 motes

Type: Supplemental

Duration: Instant

Minimum Essence: 2

Minimum Martial Arts: 3

Minimum Dexterity: 3

Prerequisite charms: Wyld-sensing Instincts (E:L 176)

A Lunar learns to combat the chaotic warriors of the wyld with terrible efficiency, dispatching them never to harm Creation again.

A lunar activating this charm gains a grey-black shade to her Claws, fangs or fingers, as they are suffused with essence similar to that of iron. The attack does aggravated damage to fair folk or others who are vulnerable to iron.

Vessel of Reality

Cost: 5 motes, 1 willpower

Type: Simple

Duration: Scene

Minimum Essence: 3

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Perception: 5

Prerequisite charms: Recreating the Iron Torment, Resisting the Lure of Madness (E:L 177)

A lunar attaining this level of spiritual enlightment sees the wyld not as a den of chaos, but as the embodiment of chance. All he sees in the wyld is accepted as a possibility and shielded completely from affecting the artist's mind. For a scene, the artist is not only immune to Wyld addiction, but also to all forms of mutations, and even fair folk glamour is transparent to her.

Path of Cunning Claws

Claws of Choice

Cost: None

Type: Special

Duration: Permanent

Minimum Essence: 3

Minimum Martial Arts: 4

Minimum Manipulation: 4

Prerequisite charms: Scimitar Claw Technique (E:L 138, PG revision), Tool-Hand Technique (E:L 131)

The character learning this charm is able to create an alternative "configuration" for his claws. Whenever activating Scimitar Claw Technique, the character can choose between the regular claws (Given at the Player's Guide) or one set alternative configuration of his choice (set when buying the charm). The alternative must have Essence*5 dots spread between accuracy, damage, defense, speed and rate. She may also trade 5 of these dots to make the damage piercing. No single trait may have more than the character's martial arts in dots. For every new configuration the martial artist wishes to learn she must buy this charm again.

Surprising Claw-Switch

Cost: 1 mote

Type: Reflexive

Duration: Instant

Minimum Essence: 4

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Manipulation: 4

Prerequisite charms: at least 2XClaw of Choice

The lunar manages flexibility above what even her fellow shape-shifters usually achieve. Upon activating this charm, the lunar may substitute between different "configurations" of her claws. A seasoned warrior uses this charm to react perfectly to all her foe's actions, using the right set at the right time.

Path of the Renowned Warrior

Face Preserving Resolvement

Cost: 3 motes, 1 willpower, 1XP

Type: Simple

Duration: Permanent

Minimum Essence: 2

Minimum Martial Arts: 3

Minimum Charisma: 4

Prerequisite charms: Tale-Spinning Mastery (E:L 183)

One of the most potent techniques for those of the silver pact, this charm allows for a certain manipulation of the lunar society.

Many times, a warrior who honorably fails a contest or otherwise shames himself can avoid the inconvenience by telling a tale that depicts him somewhat better off than he really was. This is by no means lying, only giving truth scope, as some of the changing moons call it. For example, a lunar who was beaten to the ground by his rival can spread a tale of his dramatic courage against superior odds, etc.

A lunar may, using this charm, halve the negative renown he receives from a single event. Note that this charm cannot work with situations in which the lunar disobeyed the silver pact and the Way. A lunar who was cruel to his subordinates will not manage to use lunar essence to try and make himself look better, Luna does not help those who do not follow her laws.

Tale Inspiring Deed

Cost: 4 motes, 1 willpower, 1XP

Type: Simple

Duration: Permanent

Minimum Essence: 4

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Charisma: 5

Prerequisite charms: Face Preserving Resolvement

In lunar society, display and style often count more than sheer achievement.

A lunar who is truly in tune with her social instincts can employ this technique to impress her peers above and beyond what they would have been. Before entering combat, a contest, a debate or any other event, the lunar spends the costs of this charm. After the event is over, double all renown gained from it. Negative renown is doubled as well – if a lunar messes up, he will fail much "louder" than he would've.

Five-fold Moonsilver Path Mastery

Cost: 10 committed motes

Type: Special

Duration: Permanent

Minimum Essence: 5

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Prerequisite charms: Tale Inspiring Deed, Surprising Claw-Switch, Vessel of Reality, Bottomless Pool of Moonsilver, Hunt of the New Shape.

A master of the five paths embodies lunar perfection, and has control of all facets of his life as a chosen of Luna.

He automatically benefits from the effects of Tale Inspiring Deed, Vessel of Reality and Bottomless Pool of Moonsilver, and may activate Surprising Claw-switch reflexively, not counting against his charm activation (Claw-Switch can only be activated in a War-form).
