If there was one thing that Alessa really hated it was being bored. Despite this fact, and maybe as a little joke the world liked to play on her, boring, was the best way to describe her life.

Her family life was good. Her grades were good. She never had any problems with other people, a few friends here and there, that mostly turned into friendly hellos and birthday phone calls. It was all so normal, so average, so boring.

What's more is when she finally decided to try something new, go to the city, try her luck in the work of a detective, something she had wanted since she was small. Her attempts were thrown back into her face, as if the world was saying 'where do yo think you're going?'

Alessa sighed and took in her surroundings. She and her detective partner, Elizabeth, were sharing a moderately sized house. It was out in the middle of nowhere, which wasn't particularly a bad or good thing. She liked the privacy, but it also made getting in and out of town more of a hassle. It was a tto bedroom place, one bathroom, and a messy, very lived in living room, as that was where they did most of their "work".

Alessa liked thinking of the two as the town's detectives, protecting the town from wrongdoing, serving out justice in a sly, cool way, the truth was that they were pretty much only called in when the sheriff and his lackeys were too busy, or it wasn't important enough to warrant a real cop going in.

It might've lead to her giving up, but she was too stubborn, and wanted to prove that she hadn't wasted her life, both to those around her, and herself.

Alessa was sitting at her deck, looking over her latest "report". Apparently some kid had run away from home, as he did several other times, seemed like the police grew tired of running after him and decided to generously give the case to them.

The report read,
Missing: Male, 17, 135 pounds, 5'6.
Description: Blonde, shaggy hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing a brown hunting jacket and black jeans.
If found please contact Mrs.Jules at 1-444- It carried on to give her contact information as well as that of the police station.
The odd thing was the statement made by the mother, it must've been blown off by the initial investigators, but Alessa was interested none the less.

In the statement Mrs.Jules stated that she was convinced that her son had not run away, and was rather kidnapped, as she said that her son had acted scared and panicked the day before, and there seemed to have been a struggle. It also stated that he had taken off from his room's window, despite the fact that it was on the second floor, where there was no roof or encline for him to climb down. It was noted that the other four times he disappeared he had left via the backdoor of the house, and was found several days later.

It had already been over a week and his mother was getting restless. The police were kind enough to give her the number to our home, in which she had continued to call, until we agreed to meet at her place later today.

Alessa turned to her partner, and sighed, "Have you read the report?" she asked in an almost enthusiastic way "Pretty weird right?" She looked at the report again, then back to Elizabeth, "When were we supposed to meet her over there again?" Alessa asked half out of habit and half because she really didn't remember.

It was a typical day in the "office" as Elizabeth sat in a chair reading another issue of Detective Koman. It was one of her favorite mystery mangas and she was getting to a real good part where Koman was about to reveal who the killer was. Of course Elizabeth had also figured out who the killer was by now and just like she predicted it was the butler with a smile she closed the book. "Just like I thought." She said to herself some time had passed since she first decided to become a detective along side Alessa. Being completely honest she wasn't totally used to being around her meaning the two still had the occasional awkward moment thanks to Elizabeth's shyness.

She did respect how strong and athletic Alessa was which helped her open up a tiny bit around her. They never did get much work what with how peaceful the town was. It made you understand why it was called SleepyTown Elizabeth also liked to joke that it was because of how boring the town was. Yet she has never said the joke aloud in fear it wouldn't be nearly as funny as she likes to think it is. Even when they did get a case it was always a super simple one that had clear or just was a waste of time. My carrots keep going missing. Turned out a nice little rabbit family had set up home nearby. My dog keeps howling at nothing. Turned out a young boy had found a dog whistle by accident. I can't find my ring. Turned out it was just under their couch. Each case made Elizabeth wonder more and more if the people in town really understood what a detective was, she was also very aware that the police didn't really take them seriously.

They were only ever called in on anything they didn't wanna bother with but this time they got a good one. A real case as far as Elizabeth could tell a missing person case and from what Mrs.Jules said it wasn't a runaway. Though it could just be a mother thinking the worst which is highly possible. Elizabeth turned in her chair to Alessa as she spoke to her nodding her head. "Uh y-yeah I read it....it seems..well..just a tad strange right." She fiddled with her fingers for a bit thinking about how a friend could of easily helped him get out. The struggle could just be the act of him taking out his stress on his room they'd need to investigate the scene to get a clear understanding of everything. Elizabeth snapped out of her thinking and answered Alessa's other question about the time they were supposed to meet up with Mrs.Jules. "Oh that was around 3 pm." Looking at the clock located on her desk she saw the time 2:47 pm. She jumped up from her chair and pointed at the clock in a panic. "Oh jeez Alessa it's almost time we have to hurry!" Elizabeth quickly began to grab her notepad and pencil rushing for the door waiting on Alessa. "Come let's go we can't be late to meet the client!" She reminded her partner.

----------
"Shit" Alessa muttered, their first case and they were going to be late/ Alessa sighed grabbing her case file, a pen, and her car keys.
They were far enough out that they needed to drive into town, of course not so far as to get lost on the way there if they for some reason needed to walk.

Her partner seemed equally panicked, even hurrying her out the door. It was weird, but the way that Elizabeth took not only her, but their job seriously was refreshing. She knew it was probably because her paycheck also relied on getting their jobs done, stupid or not, but still, having someone there who not only understood the passion, but maybe even had more of her own was a nice change of pace.

She quickly got into their car, sitting in the driver's side, starting the car, but waiting for her partner to hop in. "Man I hope traffic's shit, so we can blame our being late on that." Alessa already began making excuses, even though it was somewhat possible for them to make it in time, or at least just slightly late.

As soon as they were both in the car, Alessa took off, hoping not to piss off their lead with their tardiness.
