There’s some code I'm borrowing from my boyfriend, but he hadn't copied it anywhere and was instead going to edit a prior message with it, and send that to me, but he can’t access it since it’s in the archive. Is there any way we can overcome this?

I think you could probably submit a ticket to the staff, as they have access to stuff we common folks don't. I don't know for sure that they'd be able to get to it, but it's worth a shot ^^

(I also dunno how old the code in question is, but you should note that if it's written in BBCode+, it'll have to be adapted for regular BBCode).
