Sword Art Online (SAO) is a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG), released in 2022. With the Nerve Gear, a virtual reality helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds.

On November 6, 2022, 10,000 players log into SAO for the first time, and later discover that they are unable to log out. They are then informed by Kayaba Akihiko, SAO's creator, that if they wish to be free, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if their avatars die in-game, their bodies will also die in the real world.

To conquer Aincrad and return home alive, that is the goal in this death game!

Here we meet two heroes fighting for what is just in this world, will the double edged sword survive the harsh conditions of this world? And if they do will they maintain their sense of what life really is? Delve into the story of adventure, action, a little romance, and some humor!

Neji was your average teenager in the real world. He was a great athlete epically at soccer, he had a lot of friends, did well in school and occasionally liked to play video games. It had been about a year since Neji bought SAO and went online like all he other people around the world on that day. He wasn't the biggest gamer, but all of his friends on the soccer team convinced him to buy it. The day it came out neji was home sick from school so his mom went out and picked up the game and he stayed home and played. When he first got on it was awesome. He thought the whole game was just simply amazing. He had been playing for about 2 hours and decided he was going to sign out, but there was something wrong. He couldn't sign out. He kept trying and trying but still he could not sign out. Then he was summoned to an arena like all the other players and Kayaba Akihiko the creator of SAO told them that they were trapped in the game until they could reach floor 100 and if they died in the game. Than they died in real life. Neji was In shock and was terrified at first. He had so much going for him on the outside world he couldn't die here. Also he was alone, his friends were at school all day so they didn't get a chance to sign on and by the time they got home from school they had probably heard what was happening in the game. For the first week Neji just stayed behind in the town of beginnings he was going to become a blacksmith and help people out that way, but something changed in him. He couldn't just sit back and let people go out and risk their lives for him. Neji decided to go out in the field and train and help everyone move up to the higher floors. Now about a year later, neji had gotten to floor 35 and he had gotten to level 50. He was a very good sword wielder and he was known a little bit in the game. He had been out on the front lines and been in a lot of boss battles and really has helped the game move up to higher floors. Now at this exact moment Neji was fighting for his life. He was being attacked by three laughing coffin members. They were all very skilled and were coming after Neji. They had tried to get Neji to join them, but he refused. Now he was backed into a corner against three of their members.

Leo was a hunter. One year has passed in the death game and he was a feared and respected player. Death Gun is what he was known as. He wielded the Gunblade and fought on the front lines with the best of them. He took bounties and hunted down the most terrible criminals, and even taking down entire red guilds on his own. Clad in light black clothes, he took to scouring the floors on his own. To some he was a hero. To others a demon. His speed unmatched, and his strength was something formidable. But what made him even harder to destroy was his aggression. He would fight with reckless abandon, and sheer cold ferocity. He would gladly trade some of his HP for a large amount of an opponents. He was not always like this. But a year in the game has changed him, molded him into a man that can kill and is prepared to be killed at any time.

Floor 35 in the Forest of Wandering is where he currently was tracking some of the laughing coffin members. He was at level 54 and was highly skilled in combat. As he ran through the woods he heard the sound of swords clashing. As he looked further he found that there were three laughing coffin members attacking one young man. Leo rushed in as a blur and impaled one landing on top of him and pulling the trigger on the Gunblade causing explosive damage inside of him. The killer screamed and shattered. One down. Leo turned around to the two other members who were stunned at the death of their comrade and Leo threw the gunblade impaling another one. Leo quickly rushed them and threw what looked to be an uppercut to the one with the sword through him. In the last moment he turned his wrist and a six inch long blade came from it right into the Laughing Coffin members neck. The member with one last look of terror shattered. Leo picked his sword up and looked at the last member. The last Laughing coffin member began running away. Leo with no look of remorse detached the revolver from his gunblade and aimed at the back of the head of the retreating killer.

Neji was fighting valiantly. Holding his own against three members of laughing coffin. And the entire time he was fighting them he was trying to convince them to stop what they were doing. Neji hated these kind of people. In Neji's mind they were all trapped there together. They should all be fighting together as one to try and escape the game instead of trying to kill each other. Neji continued the fight knowing that he may very well die. He had hoped hat he could take enough of their hp away that they would stop their attacks. All of a sudden someone came out of no where and killed one member. Neji and the two members he was fighting stopped and immediately stared at this kid. The kid seemed to be maybe a year or two older than Neji, but something was different about him. He then went and killed another member of laughing coffin. The last member was trying to escape. The kid that showed up grabbed his gum and was about to shoot, but neji ran over and tackled the kid to the ground and kicked the gun away. With that the laughing coffin member escaped. Neji was breaking heavy as he looked down at the kid. "Stop just stop. Thank you for helping me, but he is running away let him go." Neji got off of him and helped him up.

Leo glared at the smaller teen when he reached down to help him up. Leo studied his hand and his face for a few seconds before he took it and he stood up. Leo slowly walked to pick up the revolver and reattached it to the blade. "You saved that murderer. You realize that good people might die by his blade now that he walks free. Those men were criminals they were even trying to kill you." Leo's voice was low and authoritative, his face like stone. His demeanor changed as he saw the looked at the other boy. His eyes softened and he even smiled a little, "You have a good heart you know that. And you fought valiantly against those three. What is your name?" He stretched his hand out to shake the other boys hand.

Neji glared back at the guy who had just saved his life. Neji knew that the only way he would have probably gotten out of that situation would of been to kill the laughing coffin members, but still Neji hated to do it. He figured they were all in there together and they should be helping each other. Neji didn't say anything as he listened to the slightly older teen scold him for letting the laughing coffin member get away. Neji just kept his head down and didn't say anything. He then looked up at the kid as he changed how he acted towards him. "My name is Neji. What's yours?" He shook the kid who saved his life hand.

Neji. That was the boys name. "My name is Leo, but you may occasionally hear someone refer to me as Death Gun." Leo informed Neji. Leo thought for a few moments, thinking over the consequences and possible pros and cons of what he was about to do. He pulled the menu up and sent Neji a friend request. "Tomorrow after the meeting to find this floors dungeon, I'll take you out training. I've seen you before at the frontline meetings. I don't need you dying on me, now that I know your name." Leo the sheathed his Gunblade and began walking to the town eager to eat some food and catch some sleep.

Neji smiled, "nice to meet you Leo." Neji then watched as Leo pulled up his menu and sent Neji a friend request. Neji pulled up his menu and accepted it. Neji looked at the slightly older teen. "Okay sounds good I'll see you at the frontline meeting tomorrow." Neji watched as he walked off towards town. Neji sat down for a few minutes and was finally able to catch his breathe. He has been in a battle for his life and he was able to survive. He got up and headed towards town. He finally got back to town and and headed to an inn so he could spend the night. He sat down in the restaurant at the inn he was staying at and began to eat. After eating dinner he headed up to his room and went to sleep.

He woke up in the morning and got dressed. He went down and had breakfast. He then headed out to the frontline meeting. Once he arrived he looked to see if he saw Leo.

Leo stood in the shadows as the meeting was beginning to come to order. The table in the middle had a map laid out across it. The Knights of the Blood Oath were trying to look as important as possible of course. Leo thought very briefly about how much Heathcliff bothered him. Something about him was not right. He seemed too familiar with this world they have been living in for the past year. Lightning Flash Asuna was preparing to give the plan. Hmph...The Flash huh? I have seen her fight before, she is quick, but lacks actual speed...Leo turned to his left and saw a shock of light colored hair making its way through the crowd. Leo went to greet Neji. Ruffling his hair playfully "glad to see you here, you ready to hear the full proof plan of the century on how to get to find the dungeon?"

Neji was one on the lower players here. He has just become a level 50 so there were quite a few higher level players here. He still held his own though and that's why heathcliff had asked him to keep coming back. There was something weird about him, but he didn't think to much about it. He then smiled as he looked at Leo who ruffled his hair. "Oh hey Leo and yea let's see what great plan they came up with."
