As an active duty Marine when the outbreak reached the States, THE ALPHA has been under FEDRA’s command since the beginning. The last seven years of their life has been dedicated to keeping SF safe, no matter the cost. Since becoming the leader of a squadron of soldiers three years ago, THE ALPHA has found a second family. THE SNIPER is their right-hand and they trust them with their life. They know nothing of THE CIVILIAN and that troubles them. They found THE ORPHAN during a run two years ago and took them under their wing. THE MEDIC has always been the one to save him from death's doorstep.

With a sharp eye and steady hand, a bullet to the head is THE SNIPER’s version of a warm welcome to any Infected or hostile survivors who appear at their doorstep. Nobody knows how long THE ORPHAN was left to survive on his own. THEY learned to do anything and everything it took to stay alive. THE ORPHAN was just on a supply run in SF when they were found by THE ALPHA and nearly killed on the spot before being brought in as a potential recruit. Two years later, they still aren't sure if running in a pack suits them. THE SNIPER seems to have picked up on this, but has kept the observation to themselves. They didn’t like how THE MEDIC tried to analyze them at first, but they’re on better terms now. They saved THE CIVILIAN’s life before Fireflies could kill them.

Chaos befell the world while THE MEDIC was still attending medical school. Since then they've had to adjust to a “kill or be killed” mentality to survive, but they still have the heart of someone who wants to help people. Forced to join FEDRA due to their skillset, THE MEDIC has wanted to leave but remained for the soldiers who needed them. They've helped THE ALPHA cheat death than they would like. They wish THE SNIPER would give sparing a life a chance. They could see pain in THE ORPHAN’s eyes when they arrived and couldn't resist trying to help them. They hope to teach THE CIVILIAN that there is still room for kindness in this world, even outside the QZ.

They have a plan for every mission, whether it be a simple supply run or a strike against FEDRA. THE TACTICIAN is always prepared and prefers to take their targets by surprise. They believe THE PACIFIST’s change of heart makes him a liability, but at least THE SCIENTIST has enough sense to take their advice. With THE MACGYVER now on their team, they intends on using them to their advantage. They believe THE ANARCHIST’s lack of respect for authority could prove to be an issue.

Believing in the Fireflies’ goal of restoring society and one day discovering a cure, THE PACIFIST was an eager recruit. In the name of the greater good, they did what had to be done but in recent years the blood on their hands had become too much. THE PACIFIST had a change of heart, the price of taking a life was no longer worth it. This caused them to butt heads with THE TACTICIAN, but THE SCIENTIST sympathizes with them. They are in awe of THE MACGYVER’s inventions and brilliance. They find THE ANARCHIST’s talent, if it can be called that, extremely alarming.

While studying for their Ph.D, the world fell to ruin and THE SCIENTIST was left without a purpose until the Fireflies picked them up. From then on, they assisted with researching CBI while undergoing combat training to safely conduct field research. With rumors of a new stage of CBI being spotted, THE SCIENTIST has been tasked with collecting data. THE TACTICIAN is helping to sharpen their survival skills in preparation. THE PACIFIST’s inner turmoil is just another reason why they want to fix the world. They wonder if THE MACGYVER could play a role in their research and hopes for a cure. They often clash with THE ANARCHIST, but still sees a good heart beneath their tough exterior.

The Sacramento Fireflies would have never survived as long as they did were it not for their genius and knack for improvisation. Unfortunately, they often lack motivation and drive. They initially couldn't stand THE ANARCHIST, but now they are two peas in a pod. They aren't all that willing or interested in whatever THE TACTICIAN has in store for them. THE SCIENTIST's research offers hope they're hesitant to indulge in. They enjoy THE PACIFIST’s company and their seemingly never ending questions.

The stubborn nature of THE ANARCHIST has kept them alive since the outbreak. They’ll be damned if FEDRA assholes or some Infected bring them down. Over the years, they've come up with some creative ways to stay alive. Nobody can kill you if you blow them up first, right? It’s that logic that pathed THE ANARCHIST’s path to making bombs and turns out, they like when they go boom. THE MACGYVER hates it, but the two have bonded during their time in Sacramento despite that. They have yet to see THE TACTICIAN as their new leader and they think THE SCIENTIST is way too stiff. They don't mind THE PACIFIST, but they also don't expect them to live for much longer.

All characters must be 18+ and should have realistic ages for their roles. The outbreak started 7 years ago. Please use the role descriptions as a base for your character. It is highly encouraged for you to expand beyond what is written, within reason. Just remember that this is a group roleplay and so they must be capable of interacting with the rest of the cast without any big issues.

Roles are not first come, first serve. I will not close a role until a completed app or CS has been posted and reviewed/approved. If you choose to start with an app, please complete your CS in a timely manner. I will post a hard deadline once the roleplay is filled. We will be using illustrated art with a preference for semi to realistic art styles. No heavily anime styles will be accepted (pointy chins, comically large eyes, etc.) I also ask that we refrain using any popular anime/game characters to avoid personal bias from anyone in the roleplay.

Warren values practicality. Boots, sturdy pants, and a cotton t-shirt. There isn't much room for preference, but he does like dark or earthy color schemes. He always wears his FEDRA dog tags and two wedding rings around his neck, and a paracord bracelet on his left wrist.

Once an angry and relentless teenager, Warren is now an assertive, disciplined soldier. He values order and repetition. Straying from either could mean lives at risk and Warren will not tolerate that. He is your textbook example of a hardened soldier scarred by war.

There is nothing in this world that will stop him from fulfilling his duty and protecting those under his care. Warren is fiercely loyal and protective towards his team, but especially his daughter. Jazmín is his light. Her and her mother brought out a side of Warren that he had thought to be buried long ago. Softness and vulnerability felt foreign to him, but it is something Warren is capable of.

With his overwhelming sense of duty and protectiveness comes a downside. Warren is sacrificial and the lives of others before his own. This has led to injuries that Warren is too stubborn to admit pains him more than he lets on. Talking to him about self-preservation often falls on deaf ears.

Throughout his childhood, Warren wasn't in control.

His father was in and out of his life, disappearing for years at a time. His mother met a cruel man when Warren was five, promising her love and affection up until they married a year later. He prevented her from taking medication for her BPD and it wasn't long after that she slipped into a deep depression. His step-father turned out to be an angry drunk, but was always able to sweet talk his way out of an arrest when the cops came banging on their door. Warren grew up with holes in the walls and bruises in places his teachers would never see.

In order to cope, he became an angry, aggressive boy. Warren was the bully children cried to their mothers about, the one nobody could stand up to. He was relentless all throughout his childhood, there was no hope for change until he was approached by a recruiter for the Marines late in his junior year of high school. The man saw himself in Warren and shared his story, it was the first time Warren had ever found kinship with another person. Warren signed up to join the Marines two months before graduation, desperate for some semblance of freedom.

MARINE LIFE

As a Marine, he came to learn discipline and while it was an uphill battle. Warren let go of his anger. He trained in San Diego and remained in Southern California for a year. Once that time was up, Warren was deployed to Afghanistan for a 4-year tour. He came back a changed man, but compared to the men he called his brothers Warren was a lucky one. He went on reserve after returning to the States, during this time he attended a community college for an Associate's degree in Communications. Feeling too restless to continue his schooling, Warren signed up for another tour.

Warren was only deployed a year before returning to the States after an intensive surgery to remove shrapnel from his chest. Lying in a hospital bed didn't suit him in the slightest. Warren was often a pain for the nurses to deal with throughout his recovery process. During this time nightmares plagued him, but with therapy Warren learned to manage his demons.

OUTBREAK

A year after his surgery, Warren requested an assessment review to return to active duty. He only managed to pass due to the emerging output, putting him under FEDRA's authority when they declared martial law in the weeks following. It took a small adjustment period, but before long Warren had learned to serve in a world littered with Infected and hostile survivors. In fact, he thrived in his new environment.

Two years after the outbreak, at thirty, Warren fell in love with a fellow FEDRA soldier. An unplanned pregnancy followed shortly after. Although the world was different now, Warren still proposed to show his dedication to her and their future child. When Jazmín was born, Warren wanted nothing more than to protect her from the cruelty of the world. The second family he found in his team became the same for his daughter and Warren found comfort in them when his wife was killed during a run two years ago. The loss nearly broke him, but for Jazmín and his team Warren managed to stay strong. Behind closed doors, Warren struggled for months. It became easier over time, but to this day Warren often thinks of her. He hopes he will be enough for Jazmín.

PRESENT DAY

Like many of his fellow soldiers, Warren has a deep-seated hatred for the Fireflies and their reckless ideals. He's killed a fair share of them and he never expected them to be capable of taking down the zone. The chaos that erupted had Warren scrambling to find his daughter and team, but he could only find the latter. Jazmín had been hiding away with her caretaker and other young children she went to preschool with. The Fireflies found them before Warren could. Now in the aftermath of the attack, Warren is hellbent on finding his daughter and is only barely managing to keep himself from going in guns blazing. The plan to infiltrate the Fireflies base in Oakland was not an easy one for Warren to agree to, but in the end he'll do anything for Jazmín and his team. Now he just has to keep his cool.

To a stranger, Nico is cold and reserved. He's cynical and pessimistic to a fault. A frown seemingly etched onto his face. While he may have been a teenager when the world fell to ruin, he was still forced to grow up. A certain underlying anger at the world, at humanity, at everything lingers deep within his bones. He had plans and ambitions that were still only a spark of a dream. All lost, nothing more than memories of the past. Silly desires when compared to the current and only ambitions in the wasteland, to survive.

To friends, Nico remains just as impassive and reserved. Though a hint of warmth hides his words, and just maybe his permanent frown tweaks upwards into a smile on the occasion. Needless to say, he's still pessimistic, and that will most likely never change. But a close friend could potentially find him humorous if they enjoy his dry delivery. Nico would never admit it, but even in his moments of keeping to himself he still enjoys the quiet company of his friends.

Pre-Outbreak

"It's a badge of honor," Mitchell said as he carefully lathered the shaving cream onto his son's face.

Nico tried not to roll his eyes. He could hardly understand his father's hunting rituals. Nor how not being able to shave was anything, but a hindrance.

"Do I have to?" Nico questioned already worrying about not getting a kill in time for prom. He could hardly imagine Macie wanting to go with him if he looked like some lost hiker.

"No, but my grandfather did it, and so did my father, and it would make me happy if I could pass the torch to you,"

Nico looked away for a moment, "fine," he said, not without a huff.

Post-Outbreak

The hunting rifle shook in Nico's hands as his mind raced for a solution. There had to be another way, another option, maybe his father wouldn't turn. If given the chance his father could prove to be the outlier.

"Nico," Mitchell's voice called, gruff and demanding. Like a parent scolding their child for skimming on their chores to play a video game.

"No," is all he can say his voice quivering. Nico didn't want to live in this world. Surely, this was hell on earth. Why else would his father sit before him, fat tears streaming down his face as he begged his son to kill him?

"Nico," Mitchell said again.

Nico's breath hitched as he forced away a hiccup, his body so overcome with stress already seeping with grief as it knows what was about to come. No matter how much Nico tried to run from it he knew what he had to do.

He raised the gun his hands steading, taking a deep breath he worked through the routine his father had instilled in him the moment Nico was old enough to hold a gun.

Mitchell looked at the boy he raised and smiled, "You've always made me proud."

Pre-Fedra

If Nico had counted his days correctly it's been just over half a year since the world fell into the clutches of the deadly fungi. In that time he had found himself in the company of five groups. The first two of course fell apart rather quickly. Nothing lasted for long in the early days of the outbreak. The third found themselves having a difference in morals, and Nico found it best to part ways before the group imploded. The fourth simply wanted to go too far south for Nico's liking. Even after all that the fifth group took the cake. A complete and utter catastrophe all due to a bid for power.

Nico spits onto the ground, the taste of blood flooding his taste buds. He had taken a hard hit, one that almost cost him his life if Tasha hadn't shot the fucker who hit him with a pistol.

"You look like shit," Tasha said, drawing Nico's eyes to his left.

Post-Fedra

It was a blessing when Fedra agreed to take Nico in. The organization wasn't perfect Nico had heard and seen enough to know that. Still, it remained the safest option. After months on the road scrapping by on meager rations and many sleepless nights, Nico was grateful for whatever hospitality he could get. He practically sang the Hail Marys when they placed a piping hot plate of food in front of him. So much so that he hardly minded the interrogation that came afterward.

Fedra saw potential in him, he was a good shot something Nico prided himself on. Nothing every game for free, and Fedra saw an opportunity for an equal exchange.

In a sense, Nico would hunt for them. "Mostly" infected they had said, though Nico would find their definitions of "mostly" didn't quite align.

There wasn't much time to dwell on it. The world was different, now a place of kill or be killed. Fedra secured his safety, at least as much of it as they could given the circumstances. If he wasn't killing from them then he would be killing for another.

Even so, each kill takes something from you. It may not be noticeable at least not right away. Yet, it widdles away piece by piece, festering. Until you're left wondering if the infected are more human than you.

Danilo's appearance often looks disheveled and he has grown to style himself for comfort over the years. He usually has a backpack on his person filled with a multitude of odds and ends. He keeps his Firefly pendant tucked under his shirt around his neck and usually wears combat boots, but most of his outfits are pieced together by scavenged materials with less emphasis on physical protection with his lack of time out on the front lines.

Oftentimes some of the brightest minds come in the most abstract packages - Danilo is no exception. To most, he comes across as an eccentric, slightly out of touch with reality individual who happens to possess an extremely bright and quick-witted mind. He’s the kind of individual you’d expect to be creating amazing inventions but never the person that would be introducing those creations on stage in front of the world - no, he belongs behind the scenes piecing together the parts while his charismatic counterpart mans the frontline.

At least, he’s accepted that to be his role. Even as a child he found himself struggling to really fit in with any group nor did he find much success in making friends. It became much easier to keep to himself rather than trying to understand the emotions of others. His occasional unconventional behaviors, slight disconnect from reality, and dry sarcasm don’t necessarily make him seem to be the most approachable. However, despite his denial of the fact, he does appreciate the company of others and once you give him a chance you get to see his true self - thoughtful, quirky, and even at times a bit mischievous.

Since the start of the outbreak he’s become a bit jaded - as most would expect - losing the spark in his eyes that only manages to return when a new and exciting idea pops into his mind. He’s adopted a bit of a laissez-faire style of life, believing that things will happen as they should and there’s not always a reason to intervene. His lack of hope in the new world has slowly curbed his motivation and drive, leaving most of his thoughts to fall on self-preservation without having a feeling of anything in particular to fight for. At the end of the day he’s decided it’s not the human race’s job to play God - God has made that abundantly clear. At least, if you can truly believe in a God when the world has been overrun with feral, fungal monsters.

The majority of Danilo’s childhood was spent in and out of hospitals. It began only a few months after his birth when his father, a member of the Brazilian federal police force, was killed in the line of duty leaving his widowed wife and son behind. Without much of an option in terms of financial support, Danilo’s mother picked up her life in Brazil to grieve with her brother outside San Diego who welcomed her in with open arms.

It wasn’t long before Danilo began to develop a heart arrhythmia that required multiple doctor visits and a good deal of poking and prodding to find out the source and - more importantly - to make sure that it wasn’t too serious. Medical bills began to rack up and his mother had to pick up multiple jobs to afford the care, but they were met with good news when it was finally determined that with the proper steps Danilo would be able to live a perfectly normal life.

He grew to hate going to his checkup appointments and felt his heart race every time he saw them pull out a needle, but it gave him plenty of time to read which was something he had grown to greatly enjoy. By the time he finished elementary school he was leagues ahead of his peers, absorbing information like a sponge. He was a bit peculiar - the subject of a bit of bullying - but his mother kept his spirits high and assured him that he was her little genius and that if he kept to it, he could reach all the way to the stars if he so chose. Those were the words that powered him through the rest of high school and into his college applications so he could carve out a better life for his family.

COLLEGE LIFE

Danilo’s days as an engineering student at UC - Berkeley were the days he began to love the most. Unlike high school, there was no expectation to communicate with his peers nor could they hold him back; he could learn at his pace and socialize with other like minded individuals. Of course, socializing with others wasn’t something he kept at the top of his list. He had grown to find it a bit taxing to try to understand the emotions of others and much easier to simply keep to himself.

He began to rack up a mountain of student debt despite the grants he received, but by his second year his professors all began to encourage him, some mentioning that he’d be one of the next great minds of the world with his determination and work ethic. It felt great to finally be recognized for his skills rather than his oddities and if it all worked out, student debt wouldn’t even be a concern for his future. He learned to apply his creativity and genius into his own financial struggles, throwing together extremely useful gadgets for his success out of seemingly mere junk - including learning how to construct shims out of empty tin cans to break open bike locks to sell for a little extra cash if he really got desperate, something he fortunately only had to do once.

By his senior year his potential employer prospects seemed endless and, despite his lack of charisma, his letters of recommendation spoke volumes about him giving him an open market to tackle for employment. Maybe he’d try for a stint at Google, perhaps a government job - or maybe even take his mother’s advice and shoot for the stars at NASA.

OUTBREAK

After bouncing around through a few different companies and rubbing a few bosses the wrong way over the years, Danilo’s dreams of impacting the world with what he considered to be his greatest asset - his mind - came to a screeching halt when the outbreak started. He was among a group of colleagues when shit really hit the fan, leaving him separated from his mother for a while as he hid out to survive. Survival itself seemed simple at first given his knack for macgyvering just about anything he needed out of the junk around him, but as time went on things became more difficult as hostile groups began to form and the fungal monsters around them began to pose more and more of a threat.

He broke away from Berkeley with a couple of friends, traveling down to his mother’s last known whereabouts in a small safe zone created by a group of survivors. Eventually, as all safe zones seemed to do, it fell apart and his mother was lost in the crossfire, leaving him to bury her and leave her grave behind as he gathered his friends to travel back toward the bay area where they shortly found refuge with the Sacramento Fireflies.

PRESENT DAY

Danilo was surprised at how valued his skillsets were once he and his friends settled into the Sacramento Fireflies. His ability to create seemingly anything out of nothing had managed to save their skins multiple times, but despite truly feeling like he belonged somewhere for the first time, the world around him slowly began to make him jaded. The two friends he had brought along perished from the infected over the years, leaving him alone in a group of hopeful individuals while he felt there was nothing left to have hope for. He managed to find a bit of excitement in the small black market he created, trading hidden goods from supply runs for trinkets and goods of his own. By the time the Sacramento Fireflies joined with the group from Oakland he had begun to do his own thing, creating and inventing as he felt the inspiration rather than planning for the future ahead. Even the overtake of the FEDRA safe zone stirred nothing in him - no sadness, happiness, frustration. Just dullness, devoid of inspiration and drive and hoping to once again find something he believes is worth fighting for.

Aster enjoys variety in his clothing and accessories, particularly with earrings and stylish overcoats, in spite of his limited resources. There is no irony in his choice of sensible button-up shirts and cardigans, even if they do fit the old 'bookish scientist' stereotypes. Aster is a serious and introspective individual. He doesn't speak often in social situations, but confidently makes his opinions known when he feels they may be useful. For better and worse, his research has enveloped every aspect of his life, often locking him in his own mind and driving him to sleepless nights that can make his mood unbearable for days on end. On a good night's sleep, he is almost charming, but the state of the world has pushed him to the point that he makes snappy and cutting remarks at the slightest irritation more often than not. He is mostly self-aware about that flaw, and is often regretful for it, but will work himself to the point of exhaustion regardless of how that impacts his mood or wellbeing, convinced that the potential for a breakthrough will outweigh any short-term harm he causes.

Those things aside, he can be deeply intuitive and sensitive, with a strong desire to do something good with his talents. At the heart of his dedication to his work is the possibility for a better future for everyone who has suffered in the wake of the outbreak, and he doesn't take his role in fixing the world lightly. Although his convictions about his work can contribute to the perception that he is arrogant and self-absorbed, most people will eventually encounter his enthusiastic rants about some revelation or other, and will be likely to reach the accurate conclusion that most of his quirks are a result of his sheer passion for science and discovery.

On the rare occasion that he spends a day without thinking about his work, he enjoys interacting with strangers and friends alike: shadowing them during their chores to lend a hand or just listening to whatever someone chooses to share with him. history

Early Life

Aster's parents were skilled at gaining the respect of almost anyone they encountered, both being remarkably thoughtful and insightful people, which they were fortunately able to pass on to their son in the short time they had with him. They were both researchers for the World Health Organization, with their studies on the patterns of contagions and disease often taking them from continent to continent for months at a time. Whenever they both had to be away at the same time, Aster would go to live with his aunt, uncle, and their two children in South Carolina. His cousins were almost a decade older than him, with Aubrey being a leading junior gymnast in their state throughout her high school career, and Raphael being the captain of his college debate team with the quick wit to back it up.

Although they never seemed to hold his visits against him, it was always clear that his aunt and uncle had just enough time for their children's activities and not much more. Regardless of that, and perhaps in part because of it, Aster was constantly driven to chase his cousins' shadows, to prove that he was worthy of their time too.
Despite his efforts, Aster ended up isolated and lost after the unexpected and tragic death of his parents when they were away on a year-long research trip in India. Although his uncle was quick to reassure him that his place in their home was secure, Aster soon grew into a reckless and impulsive teenager, desperate to prove his value to the people who had suddenly become his only remaining family.

College life

As his final year of high school drew toward its end, Aster accepted the urging of his aunt and uncle to pursue college; however, the death of his parents had left his ambition broken, leaving only a stubborn sense of duty to carry him through five years of a dual degree in biochemistry and microbiology.

Aster's first year at the University of South Carolina dragged him down to the point that even his aunt seemed to notice, so she encouraged him to pursue a study-abroad program for his sophomore year. Although he had balked at the idea, his cousin had a debate conference to attend in the same city and his aunt was insistent that it would be good for Aster to seize upon the opportunity to expand his horizons.
Nothing about the experience clicked with him at first, but he survived the entire year of traveling and studying across Europe, even when his cousin left him once his conference was over. And something certainly felt different when Aster returned to his usual life and routine at the SC campus, a strange new gap in his life that he was oddly driven to fill.

He began to develop a wanderlust, attending diligently to his studies with half his heart pulling toward some unknown destination, a hidden dream.
Again, he could only push through the final years of university, allowing that feeling to linger until graduation was upon him. Though he never quite knew how his aunt and uncle took it, he informed them of his choice to pursue a doctorate degree in molecular biology with the University of California, and then he was on his way.
A new pace, a different life, and just himself to avoid letting down.
To his relief, it all suited him just fine, once he made the adjustment to the fast-paced life of a graduate student in California. Just as with his time abroad, Aster rediscovered a passion that was worth enduring any uncertainty or discomfort.

The Outbreak

The outbreak collapsed the world and Aster's sense of purpose, leaving him stranded in an emergency quarantine on his campus while many of his classmates and professors rushed home to be with their families. It was Aster's fourth year of study for his Ph.D., and losing contact with his family and the outside world sent him into a spiral of uncertainty, with nothing to do but wait for the authorities to give everyone some direction, a way to stay safe. Eventually, his campus was designated as a temporary screening location for people to be admitted into nearby quarantine zones that were being established by FEDRA. Aster watched numbly as his remaining acquaintances weighed the choice between staying at the camp to wait for admittance to a safe zone or striking out on their own to avoid the increasingly heavy hand of the new authorities.

Aster was stuck in limbo, still reeling from the sudden change in his circumstances and lacking any clear direction to follow, he felt nothing but the absence of anyone familiar to lean on. Even when the university campus became the subject of competing raids between FEDRA and the Fireflies, Aster remained, keeping his head down and passing each day in whatever routine he could manage to preserve.

Soon enough, the Fireflies carried out their final raid, having driven most people to choose a side and abandon the campus. By a stroke of fortune or fate, one of the Fireflies' leaders learned of Aster's specialization in microbiology and sent someone to recruit him with a rousing speech about their desire to restore the world.
Although Aster had been skeptical of the group's intentions at first, he accepted their offer and quickly found a sense of fulfillment in collecting and analyzing samples of the infected, training for field work, and developing hypotheses about the outbreak: earning him the respect of the Firefly leader at the camp where he had been sent to work.

Present

The years following the outbreak did not change much for Aster, who found life at the Firefly camp relatively stable and routine. The idea that he could contribute to fixing the world fueled him, and his passion for research was noticed by those he worked with. Eventually, he was given an opportunity, or perhaps an order, to move directly to the Fireflies' Oakland settlement. Strangely, the idea of leaving behind another source of familiarity didn't faze him, as he was becoming obsessed with making some progress on his stalling research, and the promise of a new mutation to study was all he needed.

Almost as though he never got the memo that they’re now in a post-apocalyptic world, Izaiah is almost always dressed to impress. Normally in a button up shirt and slacks, he still makes sure that he has enough movement in them to be of some kind of help if he’s needed for a fight or to run. His “casual” wear is still a turtleneck and a cardigan. If caught in anything remotely close to a short sleeve shirt, assume either he was forced to or he’s ill.

Iz is a realist, knowing that even though the world is almost literally falling apart around them, there is still some good to be found. While he’s one of the first that will withdraw from a situation if the outcome doesn’t seem to be in their favor, he’s also the one that tests the waters with positive “what if”s.

Izaiah sometimes comes off as pretentious and a little self centered especially with his choice in style, but in reality he’s a big softy who practically depends on human contact. Childhood

Izaiah was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and not a care in the world. His parents, well off and mildly popular within the social elite, made sure that their son was put on the best path for success from the time he started to teeth, schooling him early and putting him only in what they deemed as “sophisticated” extracurricular activities. Because of all of the focus on schooling and preparing him for success, Iz didn’t have very many friends growing up.

Early Adulthood

After high school, Iz knew exactly what his next steps were and pursued a medical career despite his father wanting him to follow in his footsteps in law. With all of his time poured into studies, as his late teens dawned into his early twenties, his parents presented him with his first true obstacle: an arranged marriage.

Emily Quan was a beautiful woman, if a little too obsessed with the goings on in what she deemed as “high society”. With no real ambitions of her own, the only thing she brought to the table was her parents' wealth which was apparently enough for his parents. Unaffected by this change in his life as long as he was able to continue with his studies, he agreed to the marriage, and at 22, found himself no longer on the market. As time passed and he moved forward with his medical studies, he found himself slowly growing enamored with Emily and, more specifically, the thought of starting a family. He tried for a couple years to woo her, taking her to fancy restaurants and buying her expensive things but she never seemed to be as interested despite his best efforts.

Then the outbreak happened and the truth reared its ugly head: his wife was pregnant with someone else's child.

Outbreak

Suddenly thrust into a new world, it was quickly apparent that their money no longer held any influence in their new existence. But his knowledge in the medical field, incomplete or not, proved to be both useful and well sought after. With FEDRA taking over, both he and Emily found their footing within the new governing system. Iz did his best to provide Emily with stability in hopes she would stay, and Emily slowly found solace in the fact that Iz did not care if the child she carried was his or not.

It would be a mere months later that Iz would lose Emily in an explosive accident caused by the beginnings of a rebellious group that would later formally name themselves the Fireflies. One moment the building had been standing, and the next it was crumpled around him. Iz was left bedridden for over a month with burns across the left side of his back and a broken heart over everything he lost, but otherwise very much alive.

After a long long recovery, he was released back to work and met Warren and his crew. In his moment of need, he latched onto the kinship he found within the group that became his first real friends, and later his only reason for staying active with FEDRA.

Present Day

Izaiah is still reeling from the Firefly attack on the QZ. The initial attack had left him useless, not just because he’s not a strong fighter, but because the loud noises caused by the attack had left him cowering in fear for a majority of the event. Now, joining with the rest of the group to infiltrate the Fireflies base in hopes of getting Warren’s daughter Jazmin back, he’s hoping that he can be of more use or at least get everyone there and back in one piece. While he knows the Fireflies are extremists, he's almost sure that they'll find Jazmin well cared for since she's a child, but he's hesitant about how they're going to pull off any kind of infiltration.
