The Dragon Reborn
The HDC allowed humans to grow in population exponentially. It protected them from all exterior threats, including hostile aliens, meteors, and the occasional supernova. When humans started to colonize other systems, a clear separation occurred between the rich and the poor. The poor were left behind in the poor districts, or sectors. Sectors 1-33 became the slums of the human race. Some aliens smuggled themselves in, and the overall effect was unpleasant. The upper class decided to move to the other systems, colonizing the last system, and the upper 14 sectors. Sector 34 was the weapons division for the HDC, providing them with all necessary equipment to fight off hostiles.
The Induction was the single most damaging event in human history, leaving over trillions of humans unaccounted for. The robots came from unexplored space and took over the third system, splitting the HDC in half. Trade and transportation have been seriously interrupted by this event, and the third system remains occupied by the machines.
Entire planets have been converted into some kinds of giant factories, but their purpose is unknown. Any humans who pass into robot territory is lost after a couple minutes, and are never seen again. People are afraid. They don't know if their families are dead, dying, or worse.

Examples of Lower Sector:
City of Holtsgom
An entire planet covered in giant cities. The landscape has been completely terraformed, leaving no trees, mountains, or natural bodies of water. Giant rivers mix with sewage waste, giving certain areas of the city a uniquely terrible smell. Drug trafficking and smuggling are the major trades found in this planet.
City of Gar
This is a planet of criminals. The HDC has tried to stop rising criminal activity on this planet for the past decade, but has had no luck. This planet is home to the infamous Scelestus, an international criminal organization that has been a scourge to the peaceful HDC inhabitants who are trying to survive and rebuild after the robot invasions.
The Induction gave the criminal organization Scelestus new opportunities, and soon, members were turned into Clerics, to spy on the HDC, and to give on a new era of power to the Scelestus.
Earth Mock 2
The first Earth was almost destroyed when humans tried to colonize the moon. The moon was destroyed by the Quantam Drills, an the explosion resulted in massive chunks of lunar rock smashing into the Earth. Earth was rebuilt, but all oceans have been long since stilled, and the wildlife has long since died off. Humans and aliens coincide in peace on this shattered planet. Home of the refugees.
The Induction did nothing to effect this planet, other than increase the trickle of refugees into a flood.
Examples of Upper Sector:
Pantian
The most recent sector made by the HDC, home of the upper-class humans. No aliens are allowed into the upper sectors, due to the arrogance of the richer humans, who believe they are superior to all others, even the poorer humans.
When the Induction occurred, this sector was placed under extreme danger due to the proximity of Intil, which was the nearest sector. As the years passed, however, these humans forgot of their impending doom.
Robot-Occupied Planet
Intil
Only one seeker drone was able to get a visual on a robot-occupied planet, and this is an image of the interior. Humans have been seen taken into large facilities, but the function of these facilities remain unknown. Activity on this planet is regular and methodical, no robotic casualties have been recorded by the drone in the span of a couple months, which is remarkable to say the least.
This is what the planet looks like after the Induction. All forms of life have long since been eradicated. Only inorganic sentient beings are able to get in and out in one piece, and the Machine King is on this planet.....somewhere.
