Philippe Lee
"Did you know that short people are closer to hell than others?"
Faceclaim: EXO's Do Kyungsoo
Name: Philippe Lee, Lee Soo Young (Korean name)
"Call me Philippe or Lee. I will murder you if you call me Phil."
Age: 23
"They say my mental age is 64."
Nationality: Korean-French
"Otherwise known as Le Asian."
Gender: Male
"Does that make me a Martian?"
Sexuality: Asexual biromantic
"Tell me you want the D. I dare you."
Appearance: Philippe is a small-framed and slender boy standing at 5'8" and weighing 135 lb. His pale skin lacks any sort of blemish or imperfection and he is widely adored for his cute and 'flawless' face. He is fond of dyeing his hair and prefers red or black. His short undercut hair is well-kept and usually swept to his side so as to not hinder his activities. These are all testaments to how much he cares about his appearance.
As for clothes, the boy has a high sense of fashion and likes to dress casually smart, nothing too tacky and nothing too cheap. His favorites outfit is a simple white dress shirt along with black jeans. Due to his rather weak physique and lack of cold resistance, he tends to wear a warm blazer or sometimes a sweater, but not hoodies. They make him look too nerdy, he says.
"Ulzzang and proud, bitches."
Philippe Then:
The Unassuming Cute Kid
He was of those kids who were for the most part ignored, as back then his English was sub-par and he would rather stay silent than mispronounce a word and embarrass his fragile self. Despite this, he was generally liked by others, mostly due to his cute looks and willingness to help anyone having trouble with their studies. Predictably, he made several acquaintances and few true friends over the course of high school and the few he did make was through the extracurricular activities he took, like Home Economics, the chess club and the school choir.
"I don't really miss those simple days."
Personality: Philippe on the outside comes across as an intimidating, snarky and humorless person with an immense emotional deficit. His default face is a poker face (still cute, though) and he rarely jokes around and when he does, his sense of humor has been described as...dark and condescending. He possesses an aura of being silently intelligent, like someone with a lot of personal wisdom. In particular, he is someone who doesn’t want to waste any time on someone he doesn’t like, meaning that the friendships he does have are as genuine as can be. He’s not one to let problems simmer, to show false empathy or to spoil the overly-pampered.
Philippe is a rather curious mix of confidence, masculinity, fragility and meticulousness. Because he tends to hide his emotions to others, he can be perceived as cold and unfeeling. This is not the case. The boy has great confidence in himself as a person, yet still squirms under attention. He's also hesitant to lay out single part of him for the world to see. He is a true perfectionist and sort of a neat freak. He can't stand the presence of even a minor imperfection in his plans, in his work or even in his friends' clothes.
He really takes criticism to heart, and looks quite defensive and serious if he ever needs to prove his worth. This isn’t necessarily a bad trait: it just shows how much his passions mean to him, and how he’ll never stop trying to improve at what he loves. He also shows a sort of begrudging and unconditional solicitude. Anyone who's worked with him will say that he is secretly mother-like and would happily care for you while putting on a look that screams 'I will murder you'. Philippe is one of the most mature and patient young adults out there, manifested through hard-earned experience of patiently dealing with insufferable hellions he's supposed to call sisters.
"I'm like a fairy godmother without the magic."
History: Lee Soo Young, who would later be named Philippe Lee, was born in Lyon into a family of relatively wealthy artisans of Korean descent. His mother was a budding landscape artist and his father worked in the tailoring business. He also had two twin sisters, Elsa and Giselle, both 3 years older than him, but much much boisterous than him. Growing up in a neighborhood full of artists from various disciplines, the boy absorbed quite a few influences which would come to shape his interests later on. His parents knew from the moment he stepped into school age that their child had a knack for multiple talents. A jack of all trades. By the time he graduated from middle school, his main skills turned out to be fashion design, singing and cooking.
Some time after, he and his family moved to the United States for various reasons. Philippe himself had always been intrigued by America and was naturally excited about the opportunity. The hype burned out the second he walked into high school, though. To him, his new school and his peers were downright terrifying, to say nothing of the crippling language barrier. It took a while for him to get settled in and learn English proper. His studies improved exponentially and, mostly due to his looks and lack of hesitation to help people with literally anything, Philippe's general consensus a pretty cool guy (emphasis on pretty). The rest of the school year went by with little hindrance, disregarding his quote-unquote 'fangirls' and before he knew it, he graduated with exceptional marks.
After high school, the talented boy set out to further his studies and widen his horizons. He set out for the renowned Big Apple, New York City, to continue his studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology. His two sisters even decided to join him, saying that he'll "need their help" when Philippe knew very well that Elsa and Giselle just wanted to go binge-shopping. Regardless, he agreed to take them in and the siblings lived in a nice apartment close to his faculty.
College life turned out to be not much different from high school life. Besides studying, a group of his colleagues sharing his same passion and determination took notice of his talents and approached him. Together, they proposed that he join them in setting up a small fashion line, not for the sake of profits, merely for the experience. It took a great deal of buggering and convincing, but he eventually accepted their offer, if only to get them to shut up. The ragtag bunch of students and his sisters gathered funds and launched a line of their owned named L'Atelier, with Philippe at the head.
At first, they had great fun just messing around with fabric and scissors and just making the best, the craziest and the silliest outfits they could dream of. But then, one of their more proud works suddenly earned acclaim by a much larger fashion line and suddenly, L'Atelier was pushed into the attention of the fashion world. They garnered no small amount of money and the fame they got was enough to cement a permanent place on the industry's good side. Philippe himself has been stated to have the potential of being the industry's next greatest fashion designer or even a grand couturier. The now-successful ragtag bunch of students' studies still continued, but combined with their fashion house's activities, it became exponentially more enjoyable.
Fast forward to present time. After a long and grueling seminar, Philippe wanted to go home and unwind, but his sisters thought otherwise and managed to convince him to follow them to a new nightclub in town.
"So that's how I ended up in New York and got stinking rich. Any more questions?"
