Character Sheet: Callybon Ironhide
Activity: Nearly Every Day AEST 5pm-10pm but can read and respond outside that.
Backstory:
Callybon lived in a small settlement of gnomes for the first 30 years of her life. Her mother was an alchemist and created salves and cures from the bounties within the forest. Cally and her father would often make trips out of the woods to a few nearby towns to trade what salves they had for food, leather and whatever else they could barter for.

One day Cally's mother fell ill from a terrible plague that she had attempted to cure in some of her patients. Cally tried to help around the house and learn from her mother in the time that they had left, but within only months her mother passed away. Her father tried to pick up the slack with his carpentry but nothing could bring in food like her mother's salves.

After a long year Cally decided to leave and do what she could to help others, hopefully she could prevent the tragedy that had befallen her and her father.

Cally became a travelling alchemist that went from town to town attempting to help people with whatever help they needed. Cally attempted to do so with as little compensation as she could, often spending nights in the woods or by the road instead of in a tavern. Cally would trade away anything that she had on her if she had an opportunity to trade for some kind of herb or root that she could turn into a salve or the like and would try to spend some weeks in larger cities and towns so she could learn from any alchemists or doctors that lived there.

Spending most of her time in the woods or wilderness, Cally had learned to draw on some magic to manipulate the nature around her, often using it to determine what kind of weather was ahead of her and producing some fire easily for a camp or light. Cally had been flaunting her ability to manipulate a small flower for some children when the town Smith noticed her and believed that she was much more powerful than she was letting on. The smith had urged Cally to go into the woods about a days trip out of town because it had started dying, Cally easily took up the job because if there was a disease or threat in the woods then she wouldn't be able to continue foraging.

Cally followed the tracks of the local wildlife escaping the woods that she had been told about, it led deep into a thick bramble that Cally couldn't move with any of her magic or might. Cutting herself constantly, she delved deeper into the woods. The canopy had been thinned until it was nothing more than loose hanging branches and the tree trunks peeled apart until the would fall apart at the slightest breeze. In the centre of a patch of dirt in an empty clearing was a Unicorn with a jagged, black spiral jutting out of its ribs, the spiral looked like a piece of coral or a shell.

"Oh crap!" Cally called out as she quickly dashed through the bramble, cutting along her forearms, stomach and a deep cut up her calf. She winced as she ran forward and dropped her heavy bag on the ground next to the creature. She pulled a thick rag and strong wine from her bag and poured the wine over the wound and rag. She quickly grasped the coral and pulled up, immediately pushing into the wound with the rag and pushing as hard as she could.

The Unicorn had begun to breathe heavily as Cally pushed into it. "It's ok child, don't worry about me so much", the firm voice dragged through Cally's mind as she turned her head around in a panic trying to see who had spoken. Realising how empty these woods were Cally knew what had spoken to her. The Unicorn told her that she had been attacked and that it would soon die. The Unicorn - named Mona - had been using all of her magic to keep herself alive as her lair and all it's denizens began to die and leave. Cally asked if there was anything she could do to help and Mona mentioned a ritual that could be done that revitalise the woods but without being able to get up, Mona couldn't retrieve the components required.

For the next 2 weeks Cally went out to look for the components required and spent every night reapplying salves to Mona while she attempted to heal herself magically. Mona told Cally about the divine and natural magic that she used herself and told Cally who she could make some carvings into her walking stick that her father had made her so that she could draw nature to her.

Once the components and ritual were set up Mona performed the ritual and life returned to the woods. The brambles turned into bushes and shrubs while the trees burst their leaves out in a dance. Mona however collapsed with no breathe. She had used the last of her energy to perform the ritual.

Cally spent the next month in those same woods alone, she explored and waited for the wildlife to return. She spent every night thinking about what Mona had told her as she carved holes into her staff and adorned it with mud, flowers and leaves from within Mona's lair, she also added a small bell she had bought.

One night she called to her fire pit and placed her staff in it, the fire rolled up the staff and gave a snarky response. The fire had a small, fat body with a dull face as it told Cally off. Just as Mona had told her, she could draw nature in.

The fire was called Fenix and continued to bug Cally for the rest of the night. Eventually when he had begun to run low on fuel and get smaller and smaller, Cally offered him the tip of her staff, he crawled into one of the small holes and slept safely.

She spent the next night at a lake and did the same thing to the water, drawing up a puddle named Monse who lazed around and wouldn't talk or co-operate much. Once again he rolled into one of the holes on her staff to sleep as soon as she placed him there.

One evening a storm came overhead and Cally reached her staff to the sky and called out. The wind whipped around her and introduced herself as Zephyr, she was bubbly and always wanted to play and act. She was quick to jump into the staff after a thunder strike startled her.

Another morning after the storm Cally placed her staff in a pile of mud and drew Carbonne out of the mud. She didn't take to Cally like the others and stayed in the mud just quietly watching Cally. It wasn't until Cally bought over some pinecones and tree roots for Carbonne to eat did she respond and pull herself out of the mud and into the staff.

Finding herself happy with how Mona's woods had ended up, Cally left. As she turned back to the roads she had found that these spirits in her staff could be used to perform magic that was much more powerful than she had attempted before. Cally found herself able to heal herself with the power of Zephyr and Monse or being able to create food from nothing by drawing out Monse and Carbonne. (She draws out the spirits and talks to them purely for casting spells and rituals, she can't talk Primordial and they don't provide her with knowledge)

For next few years Cally travelled around from native area to native area, not needing to make stops for supplies now, she ensured that these environments were left as she wanted Mona's lair to be left. While she travelled she managed to protect a bear cub who's father Maximillian was dying and she found food for some baby hawks when it looked like their mother Alexis wouldn't return. Cally travelled and attempted to help any that she came across with her magic just as she did with her salves before.

Character Backstory:

For the most part this is fine -- I got a little concerned when you said she started calling spirits into her staff. If you intend to stay with that, please remember they themselves can't interact with things as otherwise those would be considered pets/companions/summons and are very easy to abuse in situations.

Please make the corrections to your character sheet and tag me ( Abrahms Abrahms ) in the discord channel when ready for another lookover!
