Vila paced the bridge of the ship. Five chairs sat on either side of her, with ten other lowny looking at their screens.
"The signal receiver found a moving image!" cried Orin.
Vila rushed over to him.
"The most important points?"
"The humans are taller than us. Looks like one and half human feet, on average. They... they don't have filae."
"What?" asked Vila, surprised. Filae were the two holes on every lowny's forehead, which led to the lungs. They could seal themselves shut, and they could filter small amounts of nutrients out of water, but their most important function was breathing. Did humans not breathe?
"They have holes in the middle of the face," explained Orin. "There's a structure built around them, called a 'nose.' And they... they breathe through their mouths too. The channels to the lungs let air inside - they aren't one-way like ours."
Vila nodded.
"Keep the data coming. As much as possible. This looks promising."
They'd only gotten off of warp drive an hour before, and they already knew more about human physiology. Facts about the planet itself had been coming in for the full hour.
The ship was now passing the red planet near the one the humans lived on. Within an hour, they'd be at the planet.
Vila tried to decide which way to approach them.
a) Circle the planet and wait to be signaled directly
b) Land on the plant and wait to be approached
c) Land on the planet and approach a human
d) Turn on the equipment that bends light around the ship, effectively making it invisible, then land discreetly and briefly kidnap a lost human, to learn more about them
e) ???
