Digital Maps Ahoy

Its a particularly strong hobby of mine to make maps for the sake of making maps, making geographies and cultures and languages or "Worldbuilding" as its called is a major hobby of mine and I thought I would go ahead and share that with you folks by posting the maps I've made and and giving whatever details about the world it represents that I can be bothered to remember at the time.

This is one of my earliest maps, I have one more thats a little bit older but it isn't really different enough from this one to justify mentioning it. There are no details about this world to talk about since it was purely meant to get my feet wet into map making.

This was the first map I did that was really "complete" with cities and capitols marked aswell as countries named and histories given to them. You are going to notice with my maps that the countries of Grand Alachem and Ici are reoccurring. Grand Alachem is the oldest fantasy empire I've come up with, that is to say way back when, when I was a child with a wild imagination, I often set stories and adventures in the empire of Grand Alachem. Every now and then you'll see Lesser Alachem pop up on a map, One aspect of Alachemic history that never changes is that for a short time the empire was split into a larger part and a smaller part due to an irreconcilable religious schism among the noble families, though Grand Alachem always reabosrbs Lesser Alachem in the end. Ici is just a fun country name and I always reuse it for the sake of having a country with a fun name. "Ici" is the French word for "here".

This is one of my favorite maps. Drachenland is almost as old as Grand Alachem in respects to when the idea for it came to me and for a long time I had ignored it until I decided it was a good idea to pit the might empires of Drachenland (German for Dragon Land) with Alachem (not Grand as this incarnation of the nation exists before the schism). Ici sits between them as the only practically buffer zone between the two mighty powers. North of Alachem is another favorite of mine Wurms, named after Wurms Germany where Martin Luther (arguably the father of protestantism) was tried for heresy by the Roman Catholic church. Wurms is a relatively modern idea of mine and is often characterized as being the home of a race of noble barbarians. They are a very Mary Sue self insert group of people highlighting the virtues of classical Calvinistic principles and religion aswell as living in a perfect free market anarchy bereft of federal or centralized government. It's essentially a loose republic with each tribe of Wurmish people promoting their strongest warrior as representative to other tribes.

A quick note on this map and on the previous one is that they both feature a scale, that is the length provided is equal to X amount of Volls or Fochstrede, these systems of measurement are almost exactly equal to one another where 1 Voll or Fochstrede is equal to the distance a man can walk in a day. the term Fochestrede is a corruption of Folk Tread and Voll is a corruption of the german word Volk which means person (it comes from the same root that we get Folk from)

is a map I made for the Creation Ex roleplay. Its purpose was to be able to have the players alter the terrain featured on the map by telling me where they wanted to place moutnains or rivers or forests and then me updating the map. The rp never wen tanywhere so the map remained entirely unedited.

This is my current WIP, its the basis for a fantasy world I am creating for an early middle ages (400-1000 A.D.) fantasy roleplay forum I plan on making if I can devote myself to this project.

I was about to comment that your last map looks like a flooded Europe before I read the explanation. Clever me.
