whoosh! <img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://i57.tinypic.com/10h9hd3.jpg&key=558723275a30f0dc08b567580c8aa9e61a40e2046a6e25022fd6bcd0d0d00846" class="ipsImage" alt="10h9hd3.jpg" /> To say he was caught off guard was an understatement. He was completely oblivious. Only thing Wash heard was a loud crackle before falling backward onto his back. The shot had only missed my mere inches. Now covered in dirt and mud the freelancer made it up to his knees and covered the sides of his helmet out of sheer shock. He had been grazed before, but never above the abdomen and certainly not by a bullet of that caliber. A bullet that would have only came out of the barrel of a sniper rifle. son of a bitch. He cursed himself as his hearing slowly returned to him- only to be greeted by the sounds of bullets bouncing off the ground below him. What was he thinking doing this alone? Going after the mercenaries like this was surely suicide. However, Wash felt like this was something he had to do. So he could prevent any more harm to be caused to those close to him. Reds, Blues, Carolina, and both armies. He also thought he had to do this for the Reds and Blues; he had tried to kill them after all. Maybe this was a way to make up for his past sins? Or was this just that questionable sanity that he has been known for. Either way, it's too late now. He breathed heavily as he grabbed his rifle off the ground. Gritting his teeth behind his visor. <img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://i60.tinypic.com/v7a7gj.jpg&key=b800d53f37286bcdf35e30d1d674704fa8e811c2397ce57a50650a18b457e5aa" class="ipsImage" alt="v7a7gj.jpg" /> Turning back towards the gunfire he kept a close eye on his radar knowing Locus would attempt to flank him. And since his only cover was a small concrete building-- it wouldn't be difficult. Was this it? He'd die in an attempt to make up for past sins? No. David brushed these thoughts aside as he pulled the trigger. Three quick burst shot out of his Battle Rifle before he retreated down the hallway. Not expecting to hit much of anything, but he needed some sort of covering fire. He'd take this moment to reload the weapon and duck down behind the table. Only to find silence coming from the once loud and smoke-filled corridors. Silence. He sat for what felt like an eternity, waiting. Listening for any sign of hostile presence. Nothing. Washington breathed heavily trying to catch his breath as his adrenaline began to fade. As his heart rate returned to normal, Wash came to the realization that this is what they had been waiting for. His energy to be drained due to his loss of adrenaline. If only he realized it sooner. That's when he noticed a faint blip on his radar; it had appeared directly behind him. Only he had noticed it too late as a loud 'pop' filled the room. A magnum shot had found its way into his left shoulder blade as he fell onto his knees. It was obvious who the shooter was. Shot and dazed Wash slowly turned and saw that his flanking theory had come true. His eyes shifted towards the green and steel colored mercenary; who had uncloaked moments before the shot was fired. Looking up at the so-called 'soldier' he remained alert as blood seeped out of his back. The soldier could only watch as Locus dropped the magnum to the ground in favor of his larger, much bulkier shotgun. His eye twitched behind his visor as his adrenaline completely faded and the pain from his gunshot wound was made more substantial. The soldier defeated by the monster? Wash's left hand clenched tightly as the shotgun was aimed at his visor. Unafraid and not backing down Wash would only stare into the barrel as Locus' grunts filled piled into the room around him. <img src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=http://i60.tinypic.com/14wr9jb.jpg&key=f043ee2f49b330562f2125dc572b4dc827c190052a48a6e82628beaceefcdd67" class="ipsImage" alt="14wr9jb.jpg" /> "Kill me. It'll only prove my point." Wash stated calmly his voice steady and calm. There was a long pause as Locus stared down at the beaten freelancer. It was a moment that seemed like an eternity. BANG. A loud gunshot blasted throughout the room. But did Locus fire the shot?
