An OC for Kingdom Hearts roleplays I’ve been tinkering with. Any critiques are welcome.

Name: Iris

*Ideal Voice Actor: Elizabeth Gillies

Age: 17

Height: 5’8

Homeworld: The Forgotten Wasteland

Gender: Female

Hair Colour: Naturally brunette, dyed rainbow colored/faded a bit

Hairstyle: Shoulder length waves with bangs

Eye Colour: Blue

Personality: Iris is brash, diving into situations without a plan. But she knows everything will turn out okay in the end. She has a deep love of traveling and exploration, which makes her journeys across the worlds a real treat. She has a strong moral compass, but she can often be swayed into having a good time, as long as she doesn’t get caught. Sometimes she can be unintentionally selfish, especially with food from Scrooge’s Bistro. She WILL eat the dessert by herself if left alone with it.

Outfit: Iris wears a navy open chest hoodie jacket with rabbit ear design over a black slip shirt with baggy blue cargo pants. A pair of chains hold her jacket together with an emblem of a pair of crossed wrenches is embossed on the back. She wears a pack on her hip facing the right and has a weapon holster slung on her back. She wears a pair of blue and black sneakers on her feet. Altogether, her outfit has about 38 zippers on it.

Keyblade: “The Keyblade”, Memory’s Rebirth

“The Keyblade”: A replica of the Keyblade Oswald wields when Iris met him. It can’t summon magic or open hearts and doors. It does pack quite a wallop when she swings it around.

Memory’s Rebirth: A Keyblade from the era of fairy tales. Iris received this Keyblade from Master Ernest after a trip to the past. A blade of creativity and ingenuity with a balance of strength, speed and magic.

Personal Abilities: Iris is a gifted tinkerer and fabricator, able to build fantastic inventions and gear from junk she can find from skills she developed in the Forgotten Wasteland. She also has good balance, allowing her to slide down rails with ease.

Relationships:

Master Ernest: Teacher

Oswald: Best friend, traveling companion

Max Goof: Friend, traveling companion

Family:

Irisabeth: Mother/Creator

Background/History: Iris has no memory of a childhood or parents. Truth be told, the earliest memory she has is wandering the Forgotten Wasteland and coming across a dilapidated item shop and making home there. The Forgotten Wasteland was a stoic world where the forgotten things go, when no memory remains. Coincidentally enough, it was a never ending treasure trove of items for Iris to learn and build with. She was most excited when books would appear. Books of different worlds and people and things, she loved them the most. She wished to visit these places to see them for herself. As the Wasteland has no sun or moon to indicate the passage of time, Iris has no real idea how long she had been there. She only ever started counting moments the day/night a small rabbit with a big key walked into her life.

Oswald was his name and he was seeking a weapons smith to destroy the key in his hand. Apparently it had shown up out of nowhere and Oswald was hoping to trade it for scrap or food. Iris agreed to the deal and took the key from the little bunny. Imagine her surprise when it vanished and returned to Oswald’s hand. Even more surprising was that the Key began to pull the rabbit out the door. Iris followed, intrigued and excited that something was finally happening in the Forgotten Wasteland.

The Key dragged the duo to a section of the Wasteland covered in darkness. A corridor appeared as they arrived, Iris managing to catch hold of the rabbit. A tug of war ensued, with Oswald and Iris ultimately losing and being pulled into the abyss. They found themselves in Traverse Town afterwards and no clue how to return home. Iris secretly rejoiced leaving the doldrums of the Wasteland behind, hoping to never return. The pair soon found themselves in contact with a visiting Knight, Max Goof, who came seeking the bearer of a Key. Iris, thinking quickly to help Oswald in case the Knight wasn’t a friend, fashioned a fake Key from junk to convince him that she was the bearer.

Max took the duo in his personal Gummi Ship to his homeworld of Disney Castle. Iris and Oswald discovered that the Key was called a Keyblade, a powerful weapon of legend that was used to vanquish the darkness years ago. Two of the Seven Keyblade Wielders, Sora and Riku, disappeared years ago, leaving Eraqus’s students, Kairi and Lea behind. But now a cult of evil villains called The Society sought to unite the worlds and create a new “Kingdom Hearts” using the amalgamated world, creating chaos and ultimately destroy the worlds in the process.

Oswald (through Iris) learned that it was his duty to stop them. Iris readily agreed to the quest, Max joining her and Oswald as a helping hand and eventual confidante in their ruse. They traveled across many worlds, clashing with The Society and their Heartless. They learned the Leader, a man named Ennis Aug, used the journals of a being named Xehanort to call the Heartless and merge the worlds. In the end, Iris, Oswald and Max thwarted Ennis Aug’s plans, though Aug escaped through time travel. Oswald restored the worlds, fulfilling his destiny and discovering his true heart as King Mickey’s long forgotten brother.

Iris attempted to prevent Aug’s escape by letting Oswald turn her into a heart and sending her back in time to the beginning of their adventures, but she soon found herself thousands of years in the past, in the age of fairy tales. There, Iris learned her true origins. She wasn’t a person, but a character of the writings of a young bed ridden maiden named Irisabeth. An escape from her illness, Irisabeth created Iris and poured so much of her own heart into her, it almost allowed Iris to be real. But Irisabeth died, her story unseen by anyone, causing Iris to be left in the Forgotten Wasteland.

Iris forgave her “mother”, promising to recover her works after she returned home. Iris discovered that Irisabeth was also the wife of Master Ernest, a Keyblade Master of old. Iris convinced the Master to grant her the Mark of Mastery and train her to fight The Society in the future under the ruse that she would fight for the Keyblade Unions. Iris returned to the future, unfortunately forgetting her time in the old days. She was surprised to discover that, through deja vu, she found Irisabeth’s books and Master Ernest’s memoirs, granting her the ability to call her Keyblade.

Iris, Oswald and Max were soon given a new task: Find Sora and Riku and bring them home to face off against Aug should he return
