In The Court Of The King...

So I'm assuming that the main characters will be the lady and king and the rp centers around their relationship amidst the turmoil of the court or is the main Male another member of the royal family?

I don't really mind. Personally I kind of obsess over the relationship between Queen Elizabeth and King Edward, so I'd prefer if it was someone else, but I can deal with either really

Ok cool. So maybe their son or nephew or some adviser maybe the brother of the king if he has one?

Yeah, you can choose! The king had two brothers, the Elder being George Duke of Clarence, and the younger being Richard Duke of York. Of course, he also had tons of other family.

Sounds good, though if you're talking about the Kings brother, it would be Lord Richard, and if you're talking about the King, his name is Edward.

As the litter she was travelling in stopped, Isabel thanked the Gods. Of course, as the daughter of the Duke of Norfolk she was well cared for, but the road from her home to court was a long one, and she was glad to be done with it. The curtains were opened by one of the servants who was travelling with her household, but she refused his offer of help, and instead lowered her feet onto the ground, gripping onto the litter to support herself as her stiff legs adjusted. She didn't bother to look to her father for introductions: she could hear him talking to another great Lord already, without concern for her. No, she would have to get used to this court by herself. From what she had heard, it was a lavish place, though they were still technically at war. It was very different from her sheltered upbringing.

She waited for her Father to finish talking to the man she had been told was Lord Warwick, then followed him into the grand chambers of the castle. The new King Edward was waiting with his wife, Elizabeth to meet them in an audience chamber she was told by her father as he went through what was expected of her at court. She was to serve in the Queen's household, and comport herself as a lady of the court should. Of course she had heard it all a thousand times on the journey, but nevertheless she listened intently. Finally they reached the audience chamber, where a guard announced them. Isabel helf her breath as she took in her first glimpse of life as a true Lady in waiting to the Queen.

Arthur found himself chuckling as he slipped out into the hallways and snuck into one of the rooms as the maid who had served him since he was an infant stormed down the corridor. "Prince Arthur! It is your duty as a member of the royal family to behave as is appropriate to your status! You are due to meet a potential fiance this afternoon and you have to get ready for it!" Arthur shook his head from his hiding spot, grinning from ear to ear as he opened the window and hauled himself up and out through it, making a dangerous leap to a nearby tree branch as he had many times before and skillfully climbed down it. If the advisors and nobles thought they could use him as a pawn or make him do their bidding they were dead wrong. No one gave him orders or tied him down. He was a free spirit and nothing could change that. "PRINCE ARTHUR! GOOD LORD WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Arthur looked up to see his maid staring at him from the open widen, mouth agape as she started yelling for help. "Sarah has always been such a worry wart. I'm not going to fall." Arthur said to himself as he finished his descent and landed on the ground, heading back into the castle as he dusted off his hands and used his secret passage. It was exciting knowing that he knew places within the castle that few others were aware of. He slipped out of the exit and checked his surroundings when he caught sight of two guards hot on his tail. He made a dash for it in the opposite direction, intending to lose them through another secret passage located next to the audience chamber when he looked forward too late to stop himself from crashing into an unfamiliar young woman who was no doubt waiting to meet the King and Queen.

(Sorry for posting so late. I've been having exams so I haven't been as active on rpnation lately but I should be on more often now.)

Isabel screamed slightly asmaller a strange man dashed around the corner and collided into her. She found herself unable to keep her footing and fell to the ground in a cloud of skirts and confusion, all while people stood around her, trying to hide their amusement. She felt her cheeks redden in embarrassment, her dignity destroyed, and all before she had had a chance to introduce herself to throw monarchs, or do anything for that matter. Even the guards who had previously been running after the man were smiling slightly, but her father simply looked annoyed. He had previously continued his conversation with Lord Warwick, but now he was glaring at her, as if it was her idea to fall over and ruin her dress and reputation. She wasn't going to being staying at court very long at this rate.

((That's completely fine! I've been doing exams as well, but mine aren't very high priority ones, they don't come for three more years yet.))

"Sorry about that Miss." Arthur apologised as he stood up and quickly dusted himself off before offering her a hand to pull her back onto her feet. "I should have watched where I was going. Now I've gone and ruined your dress right before you are to meet the King and Queen." He scratched the back of his head sheepishly with his free hand and lowered his head slightly in apology to the two men standing nearby, one of whom he had recognised as Lord Warwick. He opened his mouth to speak when the sudden thud of footsteps followed by the sound of Sarah's voice cut him off. "Prince Arthur! Good lord jumping out the window like that do you-" She stopped abruptly when she noticed Lord Warwick and quickly gave a curtsey, her face reddening slightly. Arthur couldn't help but smile as his maid changed her manner and walked as a maid was expected to towards him. She was one of the few people who treated him casually to a certain degree, unafraid to lecture or scold him and chase him down the hallways although she always used his title. Remembering the girl, Arthur turned his attention to her and flashed an apologetic smile. "Allow me to go in with you. I ought to explain the situation myself seeing as I caused this mess to begin with." He offered her a handkerchief that had been tucked away in his pocket to clean herself up and signalled at Sarah to wait, the maid obliging his order.

(Good luck!)

Isabel smiled gratefully at him and straightened her dress as nest she could. Her hair was likely a mess, but she wasn't able to do anything about it so she left it as it was. "You're forgiven, it's not that bad really. However, when she heard his maid coming up the hall and calling him Prince she went into a deep curtsey, remembering her courtesies. "I'm sorry Prince Arthur, I didn't realise who you were. Forgive me for my disrespect." She ignored his offer of the handkerchief against her wishes, as she knew that she had to wait for him to say that she could rise before she could even lift her head.

(Thanks! I just realised I didn't say what she was wearing. It would have been something like this:

Her father bowed as well, but ignored the waiting custom and instead looked approvingly at his daughter for remembering how to act. Lord Warwick glanced disapprovingly at Arthur, then continued to talk.

The sudden formality of the woman when she realised who he was made Arthur sad but with the presence of Lord Warwick and the fact that she was about to be introduced to the queen, Arthur supposed it was only natural that she behaved that way and he responded in kind. "Don't worry about it. I was the one who neglected to introduce myself, please be at ease." He rescinded the hand that offered the handkerchief and put it back in his pocket. Turning his attention back to the young woman, Arthur was about to ask for her name when the guard interrupted them to announce that the King and Queen would see them.

Isabel stood up again once the Prince allowed it, and smiled at him once again. "I thank you for your apology, My Prince." She was silent for a few moments as Arthur looked like he wanted to say something, but the guard told them that they could enter before he could say anything. Her father called for her when he heard this, but she turned to wait for the Prince first. "Are you sure you wish to come with me? You must be rather busy as Prince." She hoped he would come as she felt anxiety engulf her, but she felt that it was only fair to check with him.
