Help How long does it take for a thread to be approved?

I, like some others, are coming from the facepunch group to start setting up RPs of our own. However, it appears that the approval process is manual, and also appears to reset if any changes are made (even the OP). Is it automatic? And if so, how long does it usually take?

It's manual, and yes, posts do need to be re-approved when edits are made. However, once you reach 25 posts your account won't trigger the approval process anymore. How long approval takes depends on how many moderators are online and how many of them are available to do the approving, so it varies.

And it's actually a lot easier than you'd think to reach 25. Just join some discussions and you'll have them pretty fast.

It also depends on what it is. The system only requires nabuak approval of threads and efits of said threads when it thinks it is spam. But like Kaerri said, after a certain post threshold users just don't get picked up by it any more.
