How does this character creation thing work?

I've just read that I get an achievement for creating a character via the creation system. How do I do this?

Go to the Character Gallery through the "Showcase" link at the top of the screen. Then use the "Create Item" button to create a new character.

Okay, I've done that... I've filled in everything despite the description part... but if I want to create my character, it says, ""Please enter a value that matches the required format." What does that mean?

Some of the fields have formats attached to them. For example, age should be in years and the link to Role Play needs to be a url.
