Age (18+):
Appearance:

Clan: Minamoto (源氏)

Personality: On the outlook he seems cold, distant… it’s not really the case. Kojo is actually rather a friendly, broish type of person. He get’s guys, and gets along with them fairly well. He is respectful of women, but he doesn't treat them any less, as many womanly figures in his life were pretty tough. He loves to drink and socialize with others, though, he does appreciate alone time, gives him time to meditate and reflect. Kojo has learned patience, but he can be restless when things pick up. Kojo serves his masters well, like his father did, and will give his life to protect said master. He finds pride in honor in what he does, and finds even more pride in those he protects. Kojo is also a capable leader who prefers to be at the front of any charge, shouting encouragements and war cries. Combat is something Kojo finds mix joy and sadness in, as on one hand it is an art he is skilled at, on the other the life of another is likely to be forfeited.

Name: Yamashita Tomomi

Gender: Male

Age (18+): 53

Appearance: Tomomi stands among the tallest of his kin, at just over 6'. Despite his age, rigorous training and upkeep of his body has aided his health, and blessed him with a muscular form befitting of a Samurai. His faded black hair is threatened by strips of grey, fringe and top pulled back in a knot, with the sides hanging loosely reaching down to his shoulders. The Daimyo boasts a short and rugged dark grey beard, though not so much that it looks messy.

Clan: Minamoto

Personality: Tomomi is a natural born leader. Not only is he brave in the face of enemies, his attitude and aura of self-assurance inspires courage in those who follow him. Countless battles have secured his renown as a skilled Samurai, and his fearlessness when leading a charge. Beyond his skill as a warrior, Tomomi is a ruthless tactician. His many years of experience have taught him what he knows, and how he survives it. Wartime is difficult for most, but Tomomi has learned to disassociate himself from emotions when in battle. All that resides within him is respect for his enemies, regard for his allies, and a sharp eye.

Beyond his battlefield renown, Tomomi is a patient person. Often dealing with matters of contention within his holdings with a just hand, and a favourable ear. It is as such that his word is deemed final in many matters, for he is trusted to give sound advice and deserving punishment. Don't mistake this for leniency however, while the Daimyo does not lack in kindness and generosity, crimes will be met with due punishment. Tomomi takes no risks when it comes to his reputation, nor the trust of those under his command. Threats and criminals are dealt with swiftly and, to an extent, mercilessly.

While few are willing to approach Tomomi on matters not concerning business or war, those that are close to the Daimyo will know that he's easy to talk to. He bears no aura of overt superiority or elitism, though most definitely is authoritative, and as such anyone from beggar to Emperor seems to have no difficulty approaching him - at least, when it matters. However, in spite of this, he has very little to say. He will speak his mind about matters, but will typically only offer as much as is necessary. What is important is shared, what is not... is not.

Bio: Born to Yamashita Takehiko, a Daimyo with significant holdings in the Tokai sub-region of Chubu, Tomomi was raised primarily by his Mother, Yamashita Tomoko and his Father's retainer, Kawaguchi Yushirou. Tomomi's father, Takehiko, feared that his Mother's influence would tarnish the boy's upbringing, and he feared his son would lack the necessary discipline and masculinity to succeed himself as Daimyo. Thusly he issued the protection of his Son by his own retainer, Kawaguchi Yushirou. Yushirou's presence was officially that of a protector, but all knew his true purpose was to raise the child as a Samurai.

Whilst Tomomi and his Mother remained at their home in Tokai, Takehiko spent much of Tomomi's childhood with his concubines while travelling the the region of Chubu, to supposedly ensure the defence and sanctity of his holdings. As it was, in his earliest years, Tomoko, Tomomi's mother, raised him as any Mother would. He would learn the social niceties befitting of a Daimyo, he would learn how to dress, how to speak, how to conduct himself and to avoid adopting any unwanted mannerisms. By his seventh year, Yushirou's influence became greater, and soon began to teach the young leader of the ways of the Samurai.

Yushirou first mentored Tomomi with things such as writing, and virtue. Honour, respect, patience, and bravery. The mentor refused Tomomi so much as a wooden stick until he could prove he was deserving to wield one. The boy was in the late months of his ninth year before he first began his martial training. Yushirou was a practiced Samurai, and an exceptional Spear fighter; though they first sparred with Wooden Daitos.

In the years of his upbringing, Tomomi's Father would return from time to time to observe his progress, and would spend but a few nights with his seishitsu - for this was what was expected of him at least. Tomoko was with child many a time after Takehiko's visits. Tomomi became an elder brother to three younger siblings, two brothers and a sister; though it was well known that some of the Daimyo's concubines had also given birth to children. His first sibling was only six years his junior, and as it was that from then on his mother's presence lessened as she focused on their other child.

Tomomi's training with Yushirou continued as ever, and the retainer was much like an Uncle or Father to the boy. He did not resent Takehiko's absence, for he had with him all he needed. His younger brother was followed shortly after by another, and shortly after that came their sister. By now Tomomi was becoming an adolescent, and his younger brother following in his footsteps. His training with Takehiko was far from over, but instead it was that various other mentors came to lessen the retainer's burden. His martial training included numerous styles of combat with a weapon, and he grew into a talented fighter by the time he was a young adult.

In his nineteenth year, Tomomi's youngest brother, Takara, fell ill. Bed-ridden for months, life seemed to slow down for the Daimyo-to-be. The young boy's condition only became worse over time, and most had resigned themselves to the coming passing. Takehiko remained at the home in Tokai for months during Takara's hopeful recovery, and as it was, Tomoko fell pregnant yet again. After some time, as expected, Takara fell to the illness, and things only grew worse.

Tomoko fell similarly ill during her pregnancy, no doubt due to her weakened state. Having already been months into the pregnancy, it was expected that within only a couple more the child would have been born. As her condition worsened, and she became bed-ridden much like her son had, many in the household feared for her life. Tomomi's father refused to allow him, nor his brother and sister to see their mother - both for fear that they might fall ill also, and that she requested they not see her in this condition. As it was, for the next couple months, Tomomi's training continued. He was forced to pass all thought of his mother to the back of his mind and focus on his training and studies... though Yushirou noticed his distracted state.

When news came that Tomoki had gone into labour, many rejoiced that she had survived for this long, and yet tensions rose as she entered the most dangerous period of the labour. After a painfully slow night, the news was delivered to Tomomi and his siblings the next morning. The child was still-born, and their Mother had passed during the birth. If Tomomi grieved, he did so silently, and away from his brother and sister. In front of them he put on a brave face, and gave them his shoulder to lean on. His brother was now in his adolescence also, and so was going through similar training as Tomomi had at the time; though their younger sister was still a child, and both brothers became extremely protective of her.

Now a trained Samurai, Tomomi was both obligated and tasked to carry out the defence of his region, and as the son of the Daimyo, his role was all the more scrutinised. His ability was to be tested... and indeed it was. While news or war and battle had reached his ears before, never had he witnessed it first hand. The Iwasaki name was well known to him by now, a rival clan of the Shinano sub-region. The Iwasaki Clan had traded with the Yamashita Clan with the many natural resources found in the mountainous region, but as time progressed and the economic value of the Tokai region only increased, the Iwasaki Clan grew increasingly tiresome with their price increases to match the wealth of the Yamashita Clan. In time, trade ceased between the two regions, and Iwasaki Clan was all but denied access to trade with Southern Japan. As a result, tensions only increased over time to the point that the Iwasaki Clan outright attacked Yamashita in an attempt to drive them from the northern parts of Tokai.

When war between the Clans broke out, it was many years before it ended, and Tomomi played a large part in the defence of the Tokai region. The samurai led the Yamashita armies at the side of his retainer, Yushirou, and under the watchful eye of his now ageing father, Takehiko. His abilities were tested and he proved himself a capable and talented leader, and intelligent tactician. During the war, Tomomi's father passed away. His over-indulgence had damaged his health, and while he lived to a reasonable age, Takehiko was barely in his fifties when he finally died. While busy with the war, Tomomi received the news of his father's passing whilst many miles from their home, and of his new title as Daimyo. The Iwasaki forces suffered heavy losses against the Yamashita Clan, but it wasn't until their vicious defeat at the Battle of the Kiso River. It was the final defeat before the Iwasaki Clan retreated from the Tokai region in its entirety, after numerous smaller defeats and too few minor victories. Tomomi led the Yamashita armies onward into the Shinano region and hounded Iwasaki's armies until they abandoned the pursuit in the mountains.

Iwasaki was swiftly met with an ultimatum, to surrender the outskirts of the Shinano region and suffer a steep reparations fee, though Yamashita were willing to re-establish generous trade with Iwasaki to aid their payment... or for Yamashita to push in to the Shimano region with the intent to devastate their clan. Tomomi had already proven his ability, and thus it was that Iwasaki accepted the terms of surrender. When Tomomi returned home as Daimyo, he was met with little opposition, as news of his success in Gifu and Shinano had spread throughout the Tokai region already.

Now in his late twenties, Tomomi was an adult through and through, though some deemed him young to be a Daimyo. However, his trusted support by many assured him his position. Despite his age, Tomomi did not marry. Instead, it wasn't until his younger brother finished his training, married and had his own child that Tomomi officially decided that he would not sire an heir. Instead, the first born son of his brother would be the next Daimyo.

Though Tomomi never explained the reason for this, some speculate it was to ensure there was no tension between family members. If Tomomi had a child that was younger than his brother's, there may have been contention over who should become the heir as the Eldest Grandson of Takehiko.

The rumour was heavily refuted when suggested to Tomomi however, and he strongly argued that he feared no such disagreement between blood. It was merely his decision to focus on his duty as Daimyo and abandon thought of raising his own child. Instead he aided with the upbringing of his younger sister until she was of age.

From then, Tomomi's place as Daimyo had been stable. He was a good leader, and in future conflicts proved more than capable of defending Tokai and the Yamashita clan. What lay ahead however... none could foresee.

Weapons:
- Yari (Spear)
- Yumi (Bow)
- Daisho (Katana + Wakizashi)

Clothing/Attire:

- Dark blue and white Kimono, with a kamishimo and hakama of the same colours. These were made of fine linens and silks of intricate designs, and were only worn during meets or at home.

- O-yoroi of highly impressive design. The armour boasted the common blacks and golds of many O-yoroi, but the design of the haramaki was exceptionally intricate. The linen below was covered in fine designs of coral and white dragons intertwining amongst each other.

On his helm, a symbol of the Yamashita clan, was a golden ornament of Ryuu, the dragon.
