Being somewhat shorter and slimmer than average might not be ideal for melee combat, but Faron knows how to utilize it to gain advantage in battles. While many Drakkar rely on physical strength to gain an upper hand, Faron relies mainly on agility. His movements are usually unpredictable, so his opponents will most like have a hard time knowing whether Faron would suddenly appear behind their backs and deal the fatal blow, until that actually happens. He is also able to dodge most common attacks with ease and move around the battlefield swiftly, while buying himself time to analyze the situations and his opponents for maximum combat efficiency. To him, the key to victory is not to attack relentlessly, but to make each and every attack counts.
Faron is also an accomplished blacksmith, with a basic understanding of Runecrafting.
Years of training in Elemental Sorcery have left Faron proficient with certain sorceries of the Fire and Earth elements.
Stonefist (5 Arc, Ranged, 100 ft)
A basic earth sorcery. Pulls together nearby rocks, stones, and dirt to form a large, hard-hitting projectile that can then be thrown at a target.
Mend Earth (5 Arc/ft², Ranged, 30 ft)
A curious sorcery that rearranges and manipulates earthly material as the caster sees fit. Often used to fix uneven ground and bridge gaps.
Tear Earth (1-5 Arc, Ranged, 30 ft)
A very simple earth sorcery that causes the ground to collapse at a chosen spot, leaving a hole the size of which can range from just enough to trip a person, to big enough to hold a person - depending on the amount of Arcana expended.
Fissure (10 Arc/ft, Ranged, 100 ft)
Splits the ground open in a straight line, creating a deep gash in the earth and difficult terrain around it. The start and end points of the fissure are dictated by the caster.
Wisp of Fire (2 Arc, Ranged, 30 ft)
Creates a small flame that hovers in the air, providing faint warmth and illumination in a radius of 10 ft. The caster may manipulate it as they see fit, but only within 30 ft around them. Lasts for one minute.
Flame Touch (1-5 Arc, Touch)
A simple fire sorcery that can be adjusted to the caster's needs. At its weakest, produces pleasant warmth. At its strongest, its heat can melt iron.
Ignite (5 Arc, Touch)
Engulf an object in arcane flames, to which the caster is immune. The arcane flames dissipate after one minute, but are capable of spreading as real fire onto flammable materials they come into contact with.
Fireball (5 Arc, Ranged, 100 ft)
Perhaps the most iconic of all sire sorceries. Produces a fireball to be hurled at a target.
Resist Fire (5 Arc, Self)
Provides increased resistance to fire for one minute. Often used as improvised defense against fire sorceries, when all else fails. Does not make the caster immune to fire, and may not help against extremely strong or magically enhanced flames.
Magma Golem (30 Arc)
A rare and powerful two-part sorcery. On the first turn, assembles the crude body of a golem using available earthly materials. On the second, imbues the golem with the element of fire. The result is a formidable inanimate construct under the control of the caster. The golem is 12 ft tall and has a Strength rank of 100. Its actions must be directed by the caster, otherwise it stands still and does nothing. The construct lasts for one minute before it expires.
work in progress
Faron is much less aggressive than his kind, due to being quite weak when he was young. Physical confrontation was not a good choice for him to resolve matters back then, so he had trained himself to be as calm as possible, especially in dire situations. Although he is now far stronger, he retains this personality because he believes that it would be better for him to stay this way. He always inspects the situations carefully before taking actions, and he tends to avoid unnecessary risks and conflicts when possible.
He never forgets kind acts others have done to him. He always looks for the opportunity to return the favor when possible.
He hates being called “little cute” by other Drakkars.
He was born in a small village that is about 200 kilometers away south from Darran. His family ran a smithy, so he had inherited his parents’ skills to forge and repair weapons. After years of training, he was able to craft and repair various kinds of weapons, such as blades and axes with ease.
Being shorter and slimmer than his kind on average, he was usually the main target of other Drakkar for bullying and body-shaming. Many called him “a little cute baby,” which he really hated. Despite having a family, Faron could not help feeling lonely. He had been taught by his parents that his problems were his own and it was up to him to solve them. Hence his journey began.
He sought help from the village trainers out there to become stronger to earn respect, or fear, from others so that he was not bullied anymore. Unfortunately, the trainers also told him that he had a low potential to be skillful in combats. As a determined Drakkar, Faron refused to believe in that. He suspected that one of the reasons he was said so was because the trainers themselves wanted to bully him so they did not want him to be stronger and ended up lying to him about his potential.
At his request, his father took him to Darran when he was around 20 so that he could find a trainer who was willing to help him become tougher. And what he saw in the capital of Drakkar was much more than just some combat trainers. There were Mage Guilds, Training Grounds, Arenas and things beyond his imagination. The only thing that bothered him was the amount of noise in the most populated area of Drakkar civilization, as he was used to living in quiet places. Being determined to fulfill his goals, he was able to adapt to the environment in no time and had decided to stay for a few years there to master his combat skills.
After about 10 years of combat training, he had learned basic defensive skills and how to utilize several weapons, such and axes and blades. However, he was still weak compared to the other Drakkars in his Training Grounds. His skills were mediocre at least, but nowhere near exceptional. He had attended several tournaments to gain some experience, but he had always been eliminated in the early stages. He was not sure it was because he truly had low potential, or he had gone the wrong way. Regardless, he always reminded himself not to lose hope. After all, he had no choice but finishing what he had started.
A few months later, during a tournament in which he was knocked out by a formidable gigantic Drakkar, his opponent, to his surprise, offered his hand to help Faron get up. He had barely ever encountered such a nice gesture before, especially in a tournament. The opponent, whose name was Ghamorz, then asked to meet Faron after the tournament, which he accepted.
During the meeting, Ghamorz explained why Faron had lost to him, and how he could have won if he did things differently. He was also surprised that Faron had followed the pathway that was not meant for him. Faron then thanked Ghamorz for guiding him to be better before the two Drakkar were apart. Since then, Faron had changed his combat style completely: from brute force to an agility-based approach, and from axes to gauntlets as weapons. In only a few years, his skills had improved significantly, allowing him to be on par with most other Drakkars.
Faron had decided that it was his time to claim his pride and respect at his hometown. Unfortunately, when he was back, he realized that his town had been raided by bandits, while the state of his parents was unknown. They had either escaped, been dead, or been captured. Bursting with anger, he swore that he would eradicate those bandits, while hoping that his parents were still alive.
Faron then decided to find Ghamorz to team up with him, before realizing that his village had also been raided just a few days ago, as there were quite a lot of traces. Tracing the bandit, Faron was led to one of the bandit camps, where Ghamorz was held captive. Through a stealthy approach, Faron swiftly bypassed the guards and freed the one who had helped him years ago. Ghamorz then informed him that that the bandits were too much of a threat that they would not be able to handle it themselves. While seeking help, they realized that their villages were not the only victim. Some of the smaller ones had been raided as well, and many Drakkar warriors in the area were rallying to take down the bandits and free the captives. Faron and Ghamorz had decided to join forces with them without any hesitation.
Together with the local Drakkar soldiers, they started attacking the bandit camps. They were able to free some prisoners, but it was that moment when they realized that the bandits were much more of a trouble than anticipated. Apparently, they were parts of a dragon cult that had been thought to be eradicated years ago. Some of them had survived and their threats were emerging again. The cult was sacrificing other Drakkars for their own rituals, and when Faron found his parents, it was too late to save them. The cult's ritual was already underway, and Faron's parents had been sacrificed as the offerings. Meanwhile, the Drakkar warriors were ambushed by a large number of the cult's members, forcing them to retreat.
Realizing the massive power of the enemy they were dealing with, the remaining Drakkar warriors decided that it was time for the Royal Army to step in and eradicate the dragon cult once and for all. Faron and Ghamorz joined forces with them, and they launched an all-out strike on the remaining lairs of the cult. In the process, Ghamorz had sacrificed himself to save Faron. The dragon cult had been eradicated, but Faron had also lost everyone valuable to him.
After mourning for his loved ones, Faron had decided that it was his time to leave the past behind, and start a new life. He then traveled as far away from Daskárd as possible to the North. In the process, he had met creatures from other races, new trainers, and many craftsmen/women that were far more skillful than his parents. From them, he had learned two new techniques that allowed him to embed magic into his weapons: Sorcery and Runecrafting. It was also that period when Faron realized his true potential laid in magic, and not might. He quickly adapted himself to Elemental Sorcery, as if it was meant to be for him, and improved his skill faster than ever. He originally intended to learn only one element of magic, but his masters said that it would be a waste of his potential, so Faron had decided to concentrate on two, which were Fire and Earth. After years of training, although he had not fully mastered both elements yet, his skills were far above average.
Still being tired of the war and the bad memories it triggered, Faron had chosen a place where he thought to be most peaceful for settlement. He then decided to stay in the City of Tears, where he opened his own smithy and used the skills he had acquired to craft weapons for the locals. His products were commended due to their high quality, and thus, Faron had earned respect from the creatures in the plains. Getting on well with the locals, Faron started feeling better and was content with his new life overall.
One day, Faron was hired by some travellers to protect them while they were passing through the Wilderness to the Varden Kingdom. Being eager to embrace new jobs and challenges, he had accepted that offer. Afterwards, he was known and hired by more travelers and that job slowly became something he did on a regular basis. Being impressed with Faron’s performance, one of his co-workers invited him to form a dragon-hunting party, which Faron was quite excited about, because he rarely ever saw a dragon, let alone approaching one at a close distance.
Faron is notably smaller and lighter than his kind, so it is a bit difficult to see him from a crowd of Drakkars. There are a few scars on his body, notably the one that runs through one side of his cheeks. When he uses Fire and Earth magic, the joints between his scales sometimes glow dark-red and brown, respectively.
He rarely ever wears any chest or head armor, and when he does, he only wears the lightweight ones. He usually wears a pair of iron boots and greaves to increase the impact of his kicks while protecting his feet. Most of his wearables are self-made.
His primary and favourite weapon is a pair of iron gauntlets, which was crafted by Faron himself. It is used in most of his battles. His secondary weapon is a blade that is a memento of his passed away friend, Ghamorz. The blade used to be very heavy, but Faron has improved it to be lighter and more durable by making it smaller and augmenting it with meteorite iron. It is usually used when he faces smaller and faster opponents, where speed is no longer his advantage.
