Futuristic Exodus 1.1

"As the EAS Mamera ascended, the nation's hearts were captured by the billowing smoke left in its wake. A truly fearless feat in the face of a desolate, unknowable universe."

-New York Times, August 2043

The Observe Project seeked to do what most deemed impossible; send a ship out past the clutches of the observable universe. To finally see what was 'out' there.

It failed in 14 days. The nutritional needs of the astronauts were greatly miscalculated, the fuel supply on the ship was insufficient, and they were slowly running out of air to breathe.

But all was not lost.

In their disorientated, malnourished state, the Goldilocks planet of Nepalm glowed for them, beckoning them to indulge in its plentiful paradise, as if the planet itself was alive.

That was the first story to find its way into the settler's lore.

Landing on Nepalm, they quickly found out that they weren't alone. A supernatural species called the Animera inhabited the planet. They greeted each other with mutual suspicion, looking upon the other species as something animalistic, but luckily they remained neutral. Scavengers were sent out to pick fruits and vegetables, and to fish using makeshift fishing rods made from whatever they could find. Many of these scavengers clung to the Earthly idea of equality between people, or things that could talk, anyways, and were often caught fraternising with the Animera on their journeys.

Three hundred years passed and their population grew and the ship was expended to accomodate them, using materials found on Nepalm. With each generation, Earth and those who originally landed here drifted further and futher away, becoming nothing but mythical creatures and lands shrouded in mystery. History textbooks became riddled with misinformed facts and superstitious lore about those that they call the Original. The EAS Marmera became the Exodus 1.1, a supposed 'tribute name given by the Original to honour a holy writing about their deity.'

Children with supernatural powers and odd hair also began cropping up, explained in the History Of All textbook as a result of the supposed relationships had between the scavengers of the past and the Animera, labeled as Exerts.

"Unholy beasts conjured from the union of a human and an animal," it reads, "In their adolescence, they often find favour in their more savage heritage, since it has far more to offer in the way of power. To win the favour of their parent race, they can resort to destructive means in an effort to 'drive out' the human population.'

Exerts are commonly thought to be broken, destructive creatures, but don't worry- everyone is accepted, and if you happen to find yourself with an Exert child, they can be treated...

Each and every one of them will be treated..."As the EAS Mamera ascended, the nation's hearts were captured by the billowing smoke left in its wake. A truly fearless feat in the face of a desolate, unknowable universe."
