Dolphin Browser

DescriptedEnd

cause & effect , parallel
I realize that many of you have probably never heard of the Dolphin Browser (or maybe you have - I don't know how popular it is). While I love Google Chrome as a mobile browser, I enjoy Dolphin much more as it is faster at navigating sites (especially RpN - Google Chrome on my phone had a nasty habit of slowing the hell out of the site). The only issue is that I can't make posts on the Dolphin Browser. I'm actually not sure if the mobile site is optimized for this one at all, or if it might be a bug. (I tagged it as a big anyways).

I can't actually click on the post boxes to even start typing, so it's a tad bit annoying to have to go back and forth between browsers. The only text box that did work was the one for the ShoutBox.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_09/image.jpg.831125fa75345b66b52f64d149b7f8f3.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="74562" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_09/image.jpg.831125fa75345b66b52f64d149b7f8f3.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

I've tried dolphin on my phone actually.

I'm not sure how to fix this issue though as I didn't keep dolphin, I found that chrome was better for RPN.

Although I'm curious which chrome you used?

There's more than one Chrome? I didn't know. I could provide you with a screenshot, perhaps?<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_09/image.jpg.8b9ed2089dbb4f0448defffb0685204f.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="74563" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_09/image.jpg.8b9ed2089dbb4f0448defffb0685204f.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Oh you use the regular chrome. Well I have no idea about Apple but there's a chrome beta for android that's far superior to chrome for obvious reasons. You should give it a shot.

Out of curiosity, are there any additional keyboard add-ons you might have downloaded onto your phone? If so, try disabling them first and see if that fixes your issue.

@Atom - And how would I do that on iPhone? :P
I meant look and see by that :P

I can't check myself but I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't.

@Atom - took a look around, didn't see it. Quite unfortunate, but thanks for the tip c:
I know one other decent browser that I could recommend if you like, although I wish I could help with this issue itself. I just have no technical knowledge in this regards to this.

Did dolphin always do this?

@Atom - Yup. Never been able to type up a post on dolphin. What's your recommendation?
Ever heard of Puffin Browser? It's a paid browser with a free version. Last I checked, which was when I had an iPhone, It's only removed feature on the free version was java so no videos or anything.

Try turning off the rich tex editor in your preferences and see if that works.

This is a discussion that took place a few years ago where I came up with the suggestion. The users are on an older XenForo forum so it may or may not apply to your situation. I would give it a shot though before downloading something else onto your phone! ( :) )

My guess would be that XenForo just isn't optimized to run Dolphin. When working on coding, different browsers act differently (which is why a site will sometimes look different when switching from Firefox to Chrome, for example). I believe XenForo just didn't see the worth in putting extra time to optimize for a browser very, very few people use and, instead, consider it unsupported. If that's the case, there isn't anything anyone can do from the site end of things because it's a software issue. Again, this is just my educated guess. I'm not an expert in this field at all.

Also, note it is a known issue by XenForo, you can read more about it on their forums here. Because it's a XenForo-wide problem, I can guarantee Wiz or Ghan can't make magic happen.

@Atom @Musician @Mordecai

Thanks for the help, folks. I'm glad I at least have an answer as to why it doesn't work lol

@Musician - I'll try that out.

@Atom - I tend to stay away from payed browsers in general - I don't necessarily like them, but I'll see about trying it out.
