Lorelei Merck was born into a life of wealth and privilege in Frankfurt, Germany. Her father Franz, was an executive at the family's pharmaceutical company and work often kept him away from home. When he was around he doted on his beloved daughter and would share tales his travels around the world. Those bedtime stories were some of her fondest memories. Her father was a kind and gentle man who always gave her praise and encouragement to find her own way in life. Her mother Bertha, on the other hand was a far more controlling parent. Setting high standards for her daughter to meet or face her displeasure.
Since the age of three Lorelei was handed off to tutors and boarding schools which kept her busy with academics, music, art, dance and sport to make her a proper Scion of a powerful family, her mother would have nothing less. As she grew older and advanced in her schooling her mother pushed her towards a career in science or politics, both fields were interesting to her but her true passion was music and she had taken to writing songs in her notebooks. When she was sixteen she made up her mind to tell her parents that she wanted to be a professional musician. Her father was pleased as always but her mother said she would be wasting her life.
She rebelled against her mother’s influence and ran off with a group of friends to start a band, Ladies of Sorrow. They only performed one gig before their parents caught up with them but the sight and sound of the crowd going wild hit Lorelei like a hit of heroin. A flame inside of her was kindled that night and it would not be contained. The crowd needed her and she needed them. She had to be famous.
After that night she worked out a compromise with her parents, she would appease her mother by getting a degree from an elite university and she received her parents blessing, and credit cards, to start her musical career. Over the next few years between studying and partying in Ibiza and the French Riviera Lorelei cultivated her musical career. Her music is a more mainstream brand of gothic metal that the critics have taken a liking to, and when she performs she can always sell out medium sized venues. Her stage persona, Sanguine Voice, is a commanding Vampire Queen who carries the wisdom of the ages and seeks to bring refinement and entertainment to the mortal masses.
