Five Thousand Club
Mating Marks:

Basically your wolf has to recognize someone would be a good mate/mother or father and the person's other wolf would need to do the same. Each mating mark is a family mark and differs slightly from wolf to wolf....the male's mark would be on the female and the female's mark would be on the male...neck, back, shoulder as examples and likely places. It would take a few hours to appear and start forming if the wolves' were a compatible match within seconds of being bitten or clawed on. Should one's mate die, their mark will fade but not disappear. It will take a few hours for the mark to be visible and fully form and is usually formed, not always but usually, when the intended wolves mate with each other for the first time. The mate mark itself looks like a black tattoo upon the skin.

Your inner wolf will realize this and the mating mark will not form at all as your inner wolf will recognize they won't be a good match for you and them (the inner wolf). Likewise if a wolf forces them self on another wolf and scratches or bites them, but the inner wolves don't recognize the other as being good mate material; the mating mark will not form. In the case of a human being marked by a wolf, the mark will form and mark the human as theirs. The human will be pulled to the wolf that marked them and unable to settle with anyone else, all other relationships will fail, until they find the wolf whom marked them. The mark will fade as it does in wolves if the wolf dies.

In the case of a wolf having two to three mates, the marks will either fuse together with the dominant mate's mark being darker than the subsequent mates. This is extremely rare though, often what will happen is a wolf who has more than one mate, they will gain separate marks on their skin of each mate they have.

Females cannot have pups together. Males cannot have pups together. A wolf can start having pups at 13 for both sexes though most wait until adulthood to have children.

Mating tends to involve biting which often extends to biting and scratching during sexual intercourse and rape as well...usually done by males on females.

Marks are passed down through families. Males have one mark and females in a family have a different mark.

All wolves, both pureblood and halfblood, have mating marks. If one is a newly bitten wolf, they will have develop their own mark around the time their wolf is forming, around the second full moon of existence. A bitten wolf does not take the mating mark of their biter's family.

Once a wolf has found a mate, they will develop a mental link with each other. This allows them to communicate with each other privately, read each other's thoughts, know when the other is in danger. It is just like the bond between a parent and its bio pup. However, the mated pair can turn off their mate bond to allow the other privacy. The mating telepathic bond is on par with, though sometimes stronger, than an alpha bond or blood bond. The only ones who can sever a mating bond are the council. Werewolves can have 1 to 3 mates at a time, this is usually prominent among purebloods though halfbloods can have multiple mates as well and is a rare thing. Sometimes you will see this with bi-sexual wolves, having a mate of each sex.

Just like regular wolves, werewolves have cycles of heat, in which they have a strong desire to mate. It occurs once a year, usually in the winter time. This heat cycle normally lasts five to ten days. During this time, a wolf may mate in human form, wolf form or half form. In wolf and half-form they remain "tied" for up to an hour after copulation like normal wolves. Males become very territorial around their mates and will not allow her to be seen by other males until her heat cycle has passed.

The Council
A group of 12 wolves representing the original pureblood families. There are only 6 original Pureblood families left in the world. The Council are very powerful and considered Lycans. Only those first or sometimes second born descendants (male or female) can inherit their parent's spot on the council. It is unwise to make a deal with the council and become indebted to them. They are not above coercion and torture. They are able to erase memories of other wolves and in charge of laws and such, keeping the various packs in check. The main and original council is located within France though there are splits of management staff in other countries or areas where there are known to be werewolves. The council manage each pack and its territory like their own little chess pieces on a chessboard with the council always being the ones in control. All wolves are forced to submit to the council, no matter their rank. Council wolves are stronger and such because they are the truest line of purebloods. The council wolves are usually the biggest, strongest and fastest wolves in the werewolf community.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy lasts 9 months. Pregnancies are often difficult upon the mother in human form. Females can get pregnant in any form. They can have up 4 pups in a litter but usually 2-3. Birthing is painful (especially with multiples) as it is with humans, but werewolves cannot die during childbirth, so the fear of getting pregnant regularly and having large families is eliminated.

Glaswin-Pregnant females get more food than females not pregnant but only when their stomachs begin growing, not before. So...between 12-16 weeks gestation. Warmer months, pregnant females can do some hunting for prey that has more meat and the small game won't be hiding anymore under snow and stuff. Depending on how many babies they are carrying, determines their time off from breeding and duties...1-2 pups is a minimum of six weeks, 3-4 pups is 8 to 12 weeks and this also depends on if the pups were large, runts or average. Larger pups means they get extended time off, runts or average sized pups get the normal 6 weeks. Males are given a few days off and then expected to return to work.

Haven-Pregnant females are usually given lighter duties and subject to monthly inspections by a healer. They are given adequate amounts of food for their body type and how many pups they are carrying. Pregnant warriors and guards are usually demoted to omega for not only their safety but the safety of their pups. Hunters are usually tasked with hunting down small game and sentenced to taking part in chasing down food though this is mainly when they advance into their late second trimester until birth. Females get 6-12 weeks off, this depends on how difficult the labor was, the litter size, and the mother's physical health. During the first 4 weeks, fathers get time off as well to help care for and bond with their pups before going back to work.

Phantasm-Pregnant females are expected to pull their weight around the pack or they and their unborn pups do not eat. They are expected to carry out their duties as if they were not pregnant, very rarely can a female be given lighter duties or allowed off work altogether. Once the pups are delivered, the pregnant mother and father are given 8 weeks off to bond with their pups before heading back to work, this is longer if the mother had to have a C-section. Should the mothers have a C-section, fathers are expected to go back to work once the eight weeks post partum have passed. If a mother gives birth in wolf form, she is required to go back to work as soon as the pups are fully weaned at eight weeks.

Extra to pregnancy :

Pups in mother's womb turns to wolfs with mother and in rare cases without mother. After birth pups can't anymore turn before they are 6 years old (bited pups start turning right at first full moon after they had get bite) at teen age they can control bit of half forms if they have trained their mind. Adults can learn to switch between wolf and human outside of full moon and oldest can even stop themselves from turning at full moon.

Pureblood or Halfblood
Purebloods=Those who are born werewolves. Any child born of two werewolves, even if one parent is a Half-Blood and one is a Pureblood are considered Pureblood werewolves. There are only 12 pureblood families left in the world, these being the Altman (endangered), Ross (endangered), Cohens, Havens, Kyzer (extinct), Lavenza (extinct), Barnes (endangered), Marshadows, Winslows (extinct), Watts (extinct), Goldbacks (extinct), and Glaswins (endangered). Purebloods tend to be more in touch with their inner wolf if they have been raised as a wolf. Those who are purebloods but for some reason have their memories wiped by the council that causes memory loss or suffer an accident that causes them to become unaware they are purebloods and think they are halfblood until their memories are regained. The 12 pureblood houses are the strongest and biggest wolves in the werewolf community outside of the council. Even if a wolf were to be born a PB due to a parent being from one of the pureblood houses, they would not obtain the strength and size of a member born pure...that is one born of the house itself or the mixing of two original pureblood houses. Lesser pureblood lines exist but they are often looked down upon and are generally offshoot branches that betrayed the house in some way. Offshoot purebloods are not considered to be part of the 12 pureblood houses and will never obtain the size or the strength/powers of the 12 houses.

Half-Blood=Also known as HB, these are wolves that have been bitten by another werewolf and turned. Once someone is bitten, an alpha bond forms between the bitten (also known as cub) and the alpha (or sire). It is one of the strongest bonds a wolf can have besides that to their children, the blood bond and mate bond. A wolf who is bitten does not always survive their transformation, it depends on how strong the one who has been bitten is. They will experience their first shift into a wolf on the next full moon. Should they survive they are considered a werewolf. During their second full moon they will often end up submitting to their alpha who will be able to mess with their mind, tell where they are and what they are thinking as well as read their thoughts and communicate with them telepathically. It takes the wolf 2 moons to form fully within the mind where it will take on a solid form. A child born of a wolf and a human is a half-blood as well as children born to two half-blood mates.

Children:
They are born human and they are raised like normal humans, but still respected and loved like part of the family. They discover the ability to shift later in life (around 6 years of age), but don't reach full wolf maturity until puberty. Upon obtaining their first shift, the wolf will resemble a six-month-old wolf pup.

Wolf children age 1 month for every year old they are, this means their body will obtain the body of a pup until they reach twelve where they will then keep the body of an adolescent from twelve years to twenty years, whereupon the wolf will become a mature wolf in body. Children born as wolves resemble newborns at first, then retain the body of a three-week-old pup until they reach a year old as a human whereupon their body ages up to a month old. This repeats every year the wolf child grows until they turn 12 years old where they get the body of an adolescent. Despite the fact that the wolf resembles a three-week-old pup for the first twelve months of life, the wolf body quickly weans and learns to walk, run and eat meat though the meat must be torn into small enough pieces for the wolves to digest.

Werewolf children are called pups in their society, no matter if they are pack or loners.

Unlike human children, werewolves grow much faster than humans, in fact, they grow 5 times faster than humans, but slow down when they get to be the size of a toddler. From there, they age normally. Wolf teeth form quicker than human teeth.

Those who were born as werewolves don't reach full 'wolf maturity' until they reach puberty, which is somewhere between the age of 11 and 14. When they reach that point, their body starts to change rapidly, their urges to transform start to show more and more, almost uncontrollably. At this point, they may only be able to partially shift, showing maybe only fur and fangs.

Just like normal teenagers deal with hormones and changes, werewolves deal with them as well, only they are intensified. The desire to mate, changes in voices, changes in physical size, and of course, the desire to hunt and feed (which can be easily controlled by ones will).

Until a wolf reaches the age of 20, their body will retain the gangly appearance of an adolescent. Likewise, a wolf will retain the age of a pup until they turn 12 years of age though their wolf body will gradually grow.

The bond between parents and their children is only surmounted by their bond to their alpha and beta. It is the first connection a child has and forms. In addition, children gain marks tying to them to their family. It is usually a strange combination of the mother and father. In the case of a child who is unaware of their parentage, they gain a mark tying them to their adoptive family while the mark to their biological family never forms. It tends to appear within the three hours after birth, however in cases where the family is adopted it can take up to several months to form, especially if the child has one biological parent and one adopted parent.

Transforming
When a wolf transforms their bodies tend to break and reorganize itself. This means that skin bubbles like it is on fire, their organs change shape and their bones snap and break. While Purebloods and those who have been wolves for two decades can shift seamlessly without much problems it is not the case with half-bloods. The first shift for halfbloods, children and adolescents or those who have been a werewolf for less than a decade often have a harder time to transform. Each shift afterwards for halfbloods is extremely painful though will get easier upon reaching their 21st year as a werewolf.

All wolves, those 6 and above, forcefully transform during the full moon. This is not an option. Children and Adolescents may find themselves shifting under stress or high emotions such as fear, sadness or anger. It is for this reason that pups and adolescents are often home schooled by the omegas and their parents.

There is, however, an exception to the above rule. Pups can remain in their wolf form if their mother was a wolf when birthing them. This means that they will not turn into a human until their sixth year birthday. This applies to both PB & HB children. It is possible for a child under six years of age to shift into their opposite...human children to wolf pups and wolf pups to human children...in times of extreme stress such as their life being in danger, nearly killed, loss of a parent or loved one. The transformation is excruciating and not all pups survive this.

An important thing to note is that once a transformation begins, there is no way to reverse it or stop it. This comes easier of course to older werewolves (those who are 2+ decades). When a person transforms into a werewolf, their clothing is shredded and they find themselves naked the next morning. Even undergarments and shoes/tight clothing are ripped to shreds. Occasionally a person's wolf might fight the clothing being shredded, but this is extremely rare and only if it is to protect the human.

Rapid shifting is where a werewolf repeatedly shifts into a wolf and back into a human. It tires the wolf out, the younger a wolf is, the faster exhaustion and fatigue will set in. Eventually a wolf's clothing will shred, up to 4 to 6 times of rapid shifting does the trick and from then on during a transformation, the clothing rips completely.

Once a wolf reaches fifteen is when the danger of rapid shifting becomes less though can still happen, usually among pregnant teenagers or those who have given birth, especially if they sense a threat to their pups. A wolf is also able to fully shift form wolf to human without the full moon upon reaching this age.

All werewolves have three forms; human, half-form and werewolf. Half-form has the following attributes which are wolf eye color, nails become claws on hands and feet, elongated sharp teeth that can bite through skin and bone easily, ears and tail. The wolf is sometimes able to take control of the human in human form and take over the mind when they wish. When this happens, the wolf is the one in control, not the human. When a wolf is in control in human form the human's eyes will change to the wolf's eye color and their voice sometimes changes. The wolf is usually always in control when in wolf form. In half-form the wolf may be more in control of the half-form than the human or they may share a balance...the reason for this is not yet known but is thought to apply heavily to half-bloods who cling to their humanity or are new to the werewolf society.

The Pack Voice
Werewolves may communicate with one another via a mental connection called the pack voice. This is only possible when in wolf form, can only occur between members of the same pack, can occur between mates, and wolves are unable to communicate with werewolves in human form via the pack voice. Each wolf has a different mental tone of voice, much like in human speech, but the difference between individuals is more pronounced and each pack member is distinguishable from others. A wolf must consciously choose to transmit their thoughts to another wolf or wolves. There are exceptions in the cases of extreme emotions, lack of experience or altered mental state in which thoughts or feelings may be broadcast involuntarily. The range of the pack voice is approximately three miles, but with great variation between pack members. The maximum range, very rarely attained by any werewolf, is ten miles, the maximum distance that the howl of a wolf can travel.

Older werewolves who have been with the pack a longer time, or those who spend more time as a wolf are more experienced at communicating mentally- better at making their thoughts heard, picking up on others' thoughts and at controlling what information does and does not pass on to the other wolves. For them, using the pack voice would be a lot like talking. But for new or inexperienced members, psychic communication is an alien and difficult concept that needs a lot of practice to understand or master. It would be harder for them to pick up on what's said unless it's transmitted loudly and directly to them, and it would be harder for them to accurately direct their thoughts to a single wolf and do so subtly, at an appropriate intensity. Occasionally things can involuntarily slip out that the wolf didn't mean to say, or they could accidentally grant others access to things they didn't wish to share. When experiencing strong emotions it's harder to keep them quiet, and they may spill over involuntarily to other members of the pack.

The closer you are with someone- emotionally, familially, spiritually etc, the easier it is for you to communicate with them. If you don't know someone, if you don't understand much about who they are, what drives them, how they think and feel, then the more difficult it is to communicate with them. Much like it is in human speech, but on a more tangible level- you have to be a lot closer physically to make up for how distant you are emotionally, in order to make yourself heard and understood. The additional bonds that come with mating allow two bonded wolves to communicate over greater distances with more clarity. It is also easier for the alphas to communicate with the pack than for the pack with each other: the alpha voice is louder or easier to hear, as the bark and the howl of the dominant wolf is in the wild, while the beta voice is the second loudest within the pack.

Sexuality and Dom/Sub

Both females and males can be dominant and submissives. Submissive wolfs start turning after puperty more of feminine looking, if bited, if born they start right away look more feminine than boys normally. Dominant females then again turns out most of times strong as males. Both of these ways can be smelt from wolfs at young age and in Winslow's pack by smell Alpha orders what kind of teaching pup gets, submissives are trained from begin to omegas, but if they are lucky they can be promoted to servants, cleaners, kitchen works and if they are really lucky, they can even get jobs as medical or education. (some doesn't see education jobs as lucky as they would be ones who teach pups that could lead only to omega jobs)

There's also switch and if dominant is violanted enough they can turn to Submissive, without that body would turn. Shifts are hardest to smell, as they would smell both dom and sub, and are ofted choiced to work as lead service jobs.

Sexuality can go from gay to straight and all from middle, only that male submissives are gay or bi and very rarely straight.

Pack Bond
Just as in wolf and dog packs, in a werewolf pack ties and hierarchy are important. A pack bond can only be made for a bitten or inexperienced werewolf on the full moon, before that long distance talking isn't option between pack members, unless wolf has broken in another wolf's mind. The blood bound is stronger than pack bond. And it can made dangerously by mixing own blood to other wolves' blood. Only Purebloods know of the blood bond and it is an ancient practice that few purebloods use anymore.

Older wolves can learn to block bond, but there's also those who have learned to break in to other's mind and trashing their mind wall.

Blood bonds are dangerous thanks to their rarity but will prevent a wolf from joining any other pack and force total subservience to the wolf who blood bonded them. This, however is a twisted version of the bond that Bellatrix and possibly her family came up with. The true purpose of a blood blond is to heighten the strength of a wolves attempts delving into another's mind. This supersedes even the pack bond or that of an alpha wolf over their subordinates. It is risky though, not only for the mixing of blood but because it can cause fevers within a couple of hours, chills and possibly death. It also makes the one who has been blood bonded weak and nauseous which hits right away. Only those who are strong can survive a blood bond.

Word meanings
LIKE AFTER YOU HAVE READED!

  1. Pups= Werewolf children, doesn't mean that they are wolf form.
  2. Alpha= leader of pack can be female or male
  3. Beta= second at leadership of pack after Alpha and her or his mate.
  4. Wolfs= Werewolfs, just shortened.
  5. Pack= Group of wolfs under leadership of Alpha who has choosed Beta to take command when Alpha is prevented.
  6. Halfblood= Wolf who has either:
    1. Born from mating where either partner is human (at human female it's rare as mating often include biting) it doesn't matter if other was Pureblood.
    2. Both parents are halfbloods
    3. Was bited human.
  7. Pureblood= wolf who's parents are both wolfs and at least one of them is from pureblood family.
  8. Omega= pack's lowest position, different packs uses omegas different ways.
  9. Heat= A condition where submissive wolf is aroused sexually or where it is especially fertile and therefore eager to mate. Gives out smell that tells others that s/he is at heat.

Wolf Lore:
Silver: Silver is one myth humans got about werewolves that is in fact correct. It burns a wolf and can be used in a variety of ways, both by evil packs but most often by werewolf hunters. Silver chains or cuffs for example can be used to render a wolf unable to move and bind them, creating the stench of burning flesh at the wolf's joints or around its body if they are wrapped around a werewolf's body, no matter which form they are in. Silver cages are used to keep omegas and other insubordinate wolves confined, rendering them unable to escape as the bars will burn their flesh. The injuries of silver often do not heal and leave permanent scarring, however in some cases of a really strong wolf such as a beta, alpha or council member, or a wolf with strong resilience and constitution; they can heal injuries from silver. Werewolf hunters often hunt with silver bullets and silver arrowheads, the silver arrowheads act like poison to both wolf and oni, allowing the silver to remain in their body to give hunters enough time to kill them. Being shot with a silver arrowhead or bullet at a fleeing wolf can easily slow it down. Liquid silver is extremely detrimental to wolves, it can easily render wolf blind if put in their eyes or burn holes in the wolf's mouth, tongue or even their throat if they accidentally or are forced to ingest it.
Wolfsbane: A plant that is toxic to werewolves, it can render a wolf powerless as well as sap its power and energy away from it. Ingesting wolfsbane can cause an allergic reaction at the minimum, but more often than not ends up killing the wolf if they don't get medical treatment. Wolfsbane is poisonous in all forms and a tacit werewolf hunters use. A spiral of wolfsbane studded rope can keep a wolf in their wolf form, even after death. If the rope is removed, they shift back into their human form. Wolfsbane can also serve to trap a wolf in their wolf form and render them unable to shift, this combined with silver cuffs or chains, works to both burn and poison the wolf at the same time. It also renders a wolf slow and extremely weak. A wolfsbane powder blown into the air causes hallucinations and suicidal tendencies for any wolf who breathes it in. Vapor of wolfsbane in a cannabis vaporizer can make a wolf unable to heal. It also has poisonous effects to humans.

Full Moon: The full moon does force a wolf to transform, even if the wolf has no desire to do so. The only ones spared from this are pups who have been born as wolf pups or children under the age of 6 years. Even the council and various alphas/betas are forced to transform on this night. The rest of the time they can learn to shift at will though it takes longer for children, adolescents and half-bloods. On the night of a full moon, it destroys the wolf's human side, leaving only the primal instincts to hunt, kill and mate (if a wolf is in heat). The wolf also gets more powerful underneath a full moon though a new moon has the opposite effect and renders the wolf almost docile, no matter if they are dominant or submissive. Pups born on a full moon are stronger than those pups born any other day of the year and tend to be doms or subs.
Teeth: A wolf's teeth are like shark teeth. They are always growing and replace easily after some time, ensuring the wolf is able to always hunt or fight. This lasts the wolf's entire lifespan. The only way a wolf's teeth won't grow back is if it is dead.
Claws: The werewolf's claws are extremely sharp and tough, enabling them to rend through a variety of substances including fabric, wood, cinder block, and even some metals. Werewolves can also use their claws to crawl along walls at great speed in pursuit of prey.
Merging: This happens when a human accepts their wolf and the pair begin moving together as unit, the wolf and human always present together in the wolf's mind. It is easier to merge if one is a pureblood and has been raised in werewolf culture. For half-bloods it is difficult if not nigh impossible to accept the change, resulting in the wolf always being out of balance and creating more painful shifts and intense mood swings that are prone to anger and aggression.
Accelerated Healing: All wolves, no matter if they are half-blood or pureblood, or submissive or dominant, have accelerated healing. Werewolves can heal all but the most severe and fatal of wounds. Omega werewolves have the slowest healing times while alphas and council have the fastest healing times. Minor injuries such as cuts, shallow stab wounds, sprained muscles, and broken limbs will heal within moments, while more moderate wounds, such as stab wounds to vital organs, can take hours. The most severe injuries, such as multiple organ trauma and full-body burns can take days. The full moon, and especially supermoons, can augment a Werewolf's healing ability to incredible levels. The Werewolf's accelerated healing ability also includes an immunity to all human diseases, conditions, drugs, and alcohol, as well as an extended lifespan and decelerated aging. Accelerated healing can be temporarily nullified or decelerated by certain means; for example, impalement through vital organs, exposure to electricity, fire, and/or substances that are known to weaken these creatures, such as Wolfsbane. This power can also be hindered by emotional barriers such as overwhelming guilt and lack of self-confidence, which can prevent some supernatural creatures from using powers at their full potential and can both hinder their ability to heal and potentially put the supernatural in question's life in danger. In addition to regenerating from the majority of wounds, the accelerated healing ability possessed by supernatural creatures can have other aspects as well, including: an immunity to most human diseases and conditions, a greatly extended lifespan and a decreased rate of aging, and an inability experience intoxication caused by alcohol or illicit drugs as a result of their bodies healing the damage caused by these substances too quickly to be felt.

When Suzume moved from Japan to U.S. She brought with her recipe, that she then modifield to fit with local plants, that stops silver poisoning. It doesn't heal from it, but stops. This isn't common knowledge, only some oldest Council members who where in council with her mate and her kids knows about her recipe. (also reading her notes wouldn't help in, as all is written in japanese and she has lot records and recipes)

Heat:
Only female wolves go into heat, no matter if they are submissive or dominant. The heat cycle lasts from 5-7 days and takes place once a year, usually around winter. During this time a wolf will be driven by biology and instinct to seek out a mate of the opposite sex and produce young. Stronger werewolves will generally seek out other stronger werewolves to produce pups, knowing they have a better chance of survival that way. Because of this, it isn't common for omegas to mate with anyone than other omegas, occasionally though an omega may be lucky enough to score a mating with a stronger wolf. The heat cycle even affects those wolves who are homosexual or bi-sexual, they will seek out a mate of the opposite gender to spread their genes and create offspring of which to carry on their line. Failure to find a mate, if the wolf is in a same sex or bi-sexual relationship, though bi wolves will tend to mate with their counterpart, usually results in feelings of depression and confusion for the wolf who wasn't mated. The denied wolf of a homosexual relationship will often lash out aggressively at their partner or ignore all contact with them.

A wolf will begin to go into heat when they turn thirteen-years-old. After this, she will continue going into heat once a year until she has reached old age (65) and is no longer able to produce young. It is not recommended a teenage werewolf have children though as her body is not developmentally able in wolf form to carry a pregnancy. As teenagers have the gangly form of an adolescent werewolf, their bodies have not fully developed. Getting pregnant at this stage often results in either the pups being born deformed or the mother's back breaking due to the stress. Despite this, teenagers may be released to fend for themselves during mating season regardless with the rest of the pack, expected to fight off males that come near them with intentions to breed or submit and take the risks that come with heat and the rebellious years as adolescence tends to be known among wolves, a time of rebellious natures but also adult responsibilities in everything else.

Female wolves who have had hysterectomies or their tubes tied, will no longer go into heat and no longer be able to produce children. There is no way to reverse this and some packs will consider a female who has undergone such an operation or a barren female as useless and dispose of her by death or exile from the pack. She may be allowed to stay within the pack but is sometimes looked down upon by other pack members.

A pregnant wolf will have her first heat six months after she has given birth. Females whose milk doesn't come in or have stopped nursing will have their first post-pregnancy heat three months after giving birth if their milk doesn't come in or after they stop nursing. It is believed that female werewolves have evolved this way to stop their body from getting pregnant too quickly after birth so that they may heal physically and mentally after pregnancy and that nursing acts as a supernatural blocker to the female's heat cycle and menstrual cycle as well.

Males generally are attracted by the heat cycle and will flock from other packs if there aren't any available females of breeding age or loners looking to continue their lines. As it is every female for herself, unless one is mated though sometimes a female will have to fight off a wolf who is interested in her even with a mate, alpha females generally do not bother helping those other wolves of their pack when they are fighting off loners and pack wolves themselves. Occasionally the alpha pair may go off to mate somewhere else until the alpha female's heat cycle is over, the other wolves generally do not have that luxury unless they have mates.

Mated pairs, the males will generally be highly possessive of their mates and attack anyone who comes near them, friend or foe. They have even been known to kill any male that comes near them, sometimes females will do the same to other females that their wolf thinks are trying to take their mate away. As the heat cycle brings out the primal instincts of a wolf, it is generally impossible to communicate with them, a strongly mated pair or a member of a pure blood line usually does not have this issue like a half-blood or newly bitten wolf. The heat cycle also does not stop some werewolves, particularly lone males, from being rough when it comes to breeding and loners are generally known to try to breed with as many candidates as possible. Mated wolves generally stick with their mate.

Occasionally, when one wolf goes into heat, it generally causes the other wolves to go into heat around the same time. Being in heat does not mean a female can only get pregnant during her heat cycle. She is able to get pregnant any time of year when she is in human form or half form, however the heat cycle is when she is most fertile and the mating is more likely to be successful and catch, resulting in pregnancy. Often, multiple pregnancies are the result of a wolf breeding in heat. Occasionally, a wolf may exhibit a silent heat, that is, a heat where the female shows no outward signs of being in heat, often leading to the female not thinking she is in heat or doesn't go into heat. Males, however, can tell regardless and will be attracted to the female which may cause the female to lash out if she has reached adolescence or is a newly bitten wolf. Usually this results in the female being taken by force by the male or males in some cases. A female is also able to have multiple fathers in a litter, this occurs mainly if she is a loner but sometimes a pack wolf will mate with multiple males to have the best chances of conceiving pups, resulting in the female having what is known as a "multi-sired litter"; that is a litter which has multiple fathers.

A female in heat, these signs are only displayed during breeding season or heat season (i.e. winter) will usually exhibit outward signs of being in heat, these being the following:
  • Irritability in both human, hybrid, and wolf forms
  • Loss of appetite in human, hybrid and wolf forms.
  • Swollen vulva in wolf form
  • Scent change in human, half and wolf forms.
  • A female wolf in heat may end up wagging her tail, increasing her heat scent to her mate or available males in the area.
  • Agitation, nervous or nesting-A wolf in heat may be more anxious or nervous when in heat. She may end up looking for a safe out of the way place that is secure to nest in by piling blankets/hides or stuffed toys in a comfortable area. This nesting behavior extends into pregnancy as well, when a pregnant female will begin looking for a suitable place to den and whelp her pups, usually away from the pack. Dens might be a hollow log, an old fox or badger den, a cave if available, underneath a house, or under a tree.
  • Frequent urination in wolf form-A wolf may end up urinating more when she is in heat.
  • Rise in body temperature in human, half, wolf forms-A wolf's body temperature is 106.5 F. This allows the wolf to survive cold weather places easily like the arctic regions. When a female is in heat, her body temperature climbs to 112.8 F, normally dangerous to humans but not to wolves. It often causes their skin to feel like it is on fire and burns off any medicine the wolf is given if injured. At the same time, a wolf's temperature may end up dropping if it becomes malnourished or is ill.

Werewolf Senses:
Heightened Senses: The werewolf has superhumanly the acute senses of sight, smell, and hearing similar to those of an actual wolf. Eventually olfaction becomes 100 times keener than that of a human, while hearing ends up quadrupled.

Sight: Werewolves see in color, not black and white. Werewolves can see with perfect detail in low-light conditions. They can see part of the infrared spectrum and thus detect the heat signatures of objects or people in total darkness. They have binocular vision as well and good peripheral depth.

Smell: They can smell other living creatures within 100 feet (when upwind) and follow a scent over nearly any terrain. If the werewolf has no Scent Familiarity to the prey, then he must get some. This involves acquiring possessions of the target that bears their distinctive scent. A werewolf who is mated can easily follow their mate's scent to their location as it acts as a honing beacon. A werewolf's sense of smell can be so refined they are able to detect emotions - anger or fear. They do this by picking up chemosignals - chemical signals that communicate emotion, which an individual can give off via their scent, allowing them to identify the hormonal changes that person exhibits, or has exhibited at specific locations in the past. They can also smell illness.

Scent Familiarity
There are five degrees of Scent Familarity: Unknown, Encountered, Recognized, Familiar, and Intimate. The modifiers in parentheses are
Unknown: You have never encountered this person's scent before. It is entirely new to you.
Encountered: You have caught this scent a time or two before; while you may recognize it, you won't necessarily connect it with a person's identity. This is the level of familiarity if a werewolf has had occasion to get someone's scent by incident, or only a single time before deliberately. (Example: Someone encountered occasionally at coffeeshop or in a large class.)
Recognized: The scent is one you've scented before, and can connect it to a person. This is the level of familiarity if a werewolf has had several occasions to get someone's scent, whether by accident or intention. (Example: Someone worked with on a school project, or played sports against.)
Familiar: The scent is one that is very familiar to you, and you know it well. This is the level of familiarity if a werewolf has had multiple instances of more than casual encounters with the person's scent. (Example: A teammate you play sports with, or a housemate.)
Intimate: You are extremely familiar with this scent; chances are good that you often smell of it somewhat yourself. This is the level of familiarity if a werewolf is extremely intertwined with someone's life. (Example: Lover, family, packmate.)

Hearing: Werewolf hearing is much better than those of humans. They can hear higher pitched noises than humans hear. Their ears sit on the top of their head like a dog's or wolf's which allows them to rotate. They can hear the sound of a heartbeat in a cave at a distance of 30 feet.

Werewolf Weaknesses:

  • Blood Loss: If a werewolf is severely wounded and bleeds out before they can heal, they can die.
  • Broken Neck: Breaking a werewolf's neck will result in instant death.
  • Decapitation: Decapitation will result in instant death for a werewolf.
  • Fire: Fire can kill a werewolf just as it can any mortal. It can also hurt them, though their regenerative cells allow them to heal burns much faster than an ordinary human.
  • Heart Extraction: Ripping a werewolf's heart out will result in instant death.
  • Magic: Werewolves are susceptible to the powers of witchcraft. This is inclusive of mystical objects. Multiple spells have been performed by witches against werewolves to cause several effects against them, such as slowing down or speeding up a werewolf's transformation on a full moon, inducing a werewolf transformation earlier than they would normally begin to change, telekinetically ripping a heart from a werewolf's chest, and cursing a pack of werewolves to be trapped in their wolf form at all times except for a few short hours during the full moon when they return to their human forms.
  • Mortality: Werewolves can die of old age and share many of the same weaknesses as non-supernatural beings (e.g. suffocation).
  • Physical Trauma: Minor physical injuries such as gunshots, stab wounds and broken bones will cause a werewolf pain and will also slow them down. Fortunately for them, this is only temporary, as they will heal completely within minutes. However, certain injuries, such as a slit throat or a snapped neck, have been shown to kill werewolves.
  • Silver-Hunters have developed a variety of ways to capture wolves or injure them with silver. Silver or any substance containing silver can harm werewolves, this is their biggest weakness. Packs may also use silver to keep omegas and insubordinate wolves confined or as punishment. Silver does burn and leaves scarring on the wolf that often does not heal for the average wolf; however in some cases of a really strong wolf such as a beta, alpha or council member, or a wolf with strong resilience and constitution; they can heal injuries from silver. Silver cages tend to burn a wolf who tries to get out. Silver chains cause a burning effect around the wolf's joints or body, if it has the misfortune of being wrapped in silver chains. Liquid silver is extremely detrimental to wolves, it can easily render wolf blind if put in their eyes or burn holes in the wolf's mouth, tongue or even their throat if they accidentally or are forced to ingest it. It was discovered by Annabell Lavenza, a sadistic pureblood and former alpha mate to both Azaris Winslow and his sister Bellatrix Winslow after Azarias's murder. Brands on a wolf that are made with molten silver, usually coated on an iron brand, will permanently scar and cannot ever be removed. Such brands are taboo and used to mark a wolf as the "property" of another wolf, males and females can be marked or be the "owners" of another wolf. An injection of silver nitrate can kill werewolves.
  • Wolfsbane: When ingested, wolfsbane causes a werewolf to become severely weak and feverish. Also, If a werewolf's skin is exposed to wolfsbane, it will burn them. A spiral of wolfsbane studded rope can keep a wolf in their wolf form, even after death.
  • New Moon: The New Moon causes a wolf; no matter their rank, whether they are sub or dom, pureblood or halfblood; into a docile and tame state. The wolf is lethargic, their reflexes become that of a human's and their heightened senses and powers are drastically weakened. In essence, the new moon saps the wolf's energy and life force for that evening, resulting in them not being able to defend or protect themselves. Hunters are known to kill werewolves during this time or easily capture them should they choose. It is especially a vulnerable state for a child, however unlike with the full moon only affecting children 6+ years of age, the new moon affects all werewolves from birth to death. A child born on a new moon is usually a weaker creature than one born any other day of the month and is often a sub and usually an omega for life, occasionally a child born on a new moon will be a dom but they will never obtain the strength and health of a wolf born any other day of the month.
  • High-pitched noises: Loud, high-pitched noises aren’t fun for anyone. This is especially true for werewolves due to their enhanced hearing.
  • Mountain Ash: Creates a barrier that werewolves cannot cross. When used properly, Mountain Ash can form an impenetrable barrier to keep werewolves in or out. It can also modify their behavior - keeping them from “causing trouble”.
  • Lunar Eclipse: Werewolves are completely vulnerable during a total lunar eclipse. In this they remain humans and cannot turn into their half or wolf forms to defend themselves. It also saps their power
  • Electricity: The steady application of low amperage electricity will keep werewolves weak and in human form.
  • moonstone.png Hecatolite (commonly known as Moonstone)-Can block the effects of the moon and disrupt a werewolf's natural cycle of transformation. When combined with silver collars, traps the wolf in werewolf form and renders it tame, usually used by hunters and witches. Saps the wolf's powers and over time, the wolf can lose track of time that has passed and takes away their ability to speak mentally, their words coming instead out choppy and slow if a year or more has passed.

Hierarchy:

hierarchy.png
Order is important in a wolf pack for it to function normally. In a traditional wolf pack, wolves will fight an old or sick leader to take over the pack. This is usually between a loner and a pack wolf or an offspring of the alpha pair and the current alpha as wolf packs tend to be a mated pair, their adolescent offspring and current litter of pups. In wolf hierarchy, the males tend to dominate other males and the females dominate other females so that there is generally a low ranking member of each sex. Generally, in a wolf pack, only the alpha pair are allowed to breed. They are also the first to get the choicest of meats and organs, then the subs, the omegas eating last and picking off what scraps they can get. Order is important in werewolf packs as well, however the alpha pair usually allows other members to breed with each other and the alpha pair is not always mated, unless you happen to be in Phantasm.

Haven-Haven is the good pack. They're more civilized than the other two packs and try to treat humans fairly. They generally ignore humans unless they prove a threat but do their best to hide their existence from humans for they know it will mean their necks. Once a lax and easy going pack under the former leader Hannah, they have slowly been made to adapt to work and stricter rules and leadership under the pureblood Gabriel Haven. It's been hard work for Gabriel to get the pack to be accepting of her and accepting of the stricter rules compared to when she first joined. In some ways she is still struggling but knows her pack is in capable pawish hands with her mate Zayne, another pureblood of a lesser house. She allows wolves of any rank to breed and tolerates male loners to breed with pack females though doesn't tolerate wolves of other packs coming in to breed. Everyone is expected to work and eat at least dinner together, though omegas eat whatever is left over from food, no matter if it is cooked or hunted prey. The alpha rank can also be challenged as the alpha does not have to be mates with the alpha of the opposite sex; sometimes the alpha has a mate in another rank. The pack of Haven eats mainly cooked food, though they do eat raw meat in hunts. Some wolves may eat both raw and cooked food in Haven though this is rare. Pups, upon turning thirteen, may finally take a rank suited to their respective skills or seek the advice of the alpha pair on what they should choose, before then they are watched to see what rank they are suited for. Pups may end up shadowing a wolf in the rank they are interested in from the time they are ten-years-old. Elders are also required to be by all pack members. Only a wolf of the same sex can challenge the alpha for that rank. If the leader is challenged and loses, they are put on a six month probationary stint as an omega whereafter they can rechallenge the one who took their rank. If you challenge the alpha and the alpha beats the challenger, the challenger is made an omega for a probationary period of six months.

Glaswin-Glaswin has been through a lot. Formerly the pack of Winslow and then the pack of Kagore. The alpha rank is able to be challenged by as the alpha does not have to be mates with the alpha of the opposite sex, sometimes the alpha has a mate in another rank. Breedings are not forced but the alpha will not stop pack males or loner males from breeding with pack females. Sometimes pack males of Glaswin will go breed with loner females or try their luck with females in Haven or Phantasm, this tends to result in serious injuries leading to death. Glaswin is the wildest of the three packs and they hunt humans out of necessity though when it was Winslow, they always hunted humans. Omegas are not treated like slaves or forced to breed anymore like in Winslow but they are expected to fend for themselves during mating season and be can be confined in the former slave room on the first floor of the pack house if they disobey the alpha or beta. They live mainly on a raw meat diet, rarely is food cooked. The pack of Glaswin embraces their wild nature. Pups tend to have their own hierarchy and their mischievousness is generally tolerated until adolescence. Upon turning 13, adolescents make take on a rank within the pack and are no longer coddled by their parents or pack members. Elders are also required to be respected by all pack members.

Phantasm-Phantasm was brought about by the former beta of Winslow under Bella's control left the pack in June 2018, though he had begun building his own pack in secret for a while. Phantasm is run in a militaristic manner and the leader ranks, alpha, beta and gamma, cannot be challenged. Phantasm is also the only pack that requires the leaders to be mates to each other, the alphas as mates, the betas as mates and the gammas as mates. It is also the only pack where these roles cannot be challenged by low ranking wolves. In Phantasm, the leaders and the respected heads of the ranks are required to be respected at all costs by low ranking wolves; the alpha pair, beta pair, gamma pair, Knowledge Keeper and their apprentice; Pursuer, and Condottiere. Elders are also required to be by all pack members. To join Phantasm, one has to either know Matthew (often be a blood relative) or be bitten by the man himself though he will let in those bitten by his cubs on occasion. In Phantasm, a wolf gains their rank based on their size, whether they are dominant or submissive and their skills upon turning 16-years-old, pups end up becoming Custodians as an intermediary period. If a wolf is too submissive or timid, they are made into an omega...this also applies to newcomers and used as a punishment for pack members who disobey their leaders. Omegas are made to breed with other omegas. Outside breedings with loners and other packs is strictly forbidden, occasionally the alpha may be persuaded to allow it. Phantasm is a neutral pack, embracing both civilization and their wild nature. Despite being the balance between the three packs, they live in dens instead of a house like the other two packs. The pack of Phantasm eats a varied diet of cooked and raw food as well as willingly hunting and eating humans. They are nomadic, meaning they don't stay in one place for long and move around the territory. If one does not pull their weight, then they do not eat. Even pups have a pecking order. Phantasm wolves also patrol and hunt big game weekly, with all wolves-the exception being pups-are required to go on patrols around the territory. This teaches, even omegas, to learn basic fighting, tracking, and hunting skills so they may defend themselves and the territory. They are also most affected by the full moon, becoming more wild in nature than the other packs and are quick to lose all humanity. The pack is trained to kill and ask questions later, if not seriously maim. They are dangerous in that they are calculating and not afraid to spill and shed blood. Pups begin training at eight-years-old in fighting and hunting. Phantasm is also the only pack where the leadership ranks (alpha, beta and gamma) are inherited. These ranks pass onto the first to third child of each high-ranking couple, depending on who of the first three children are better qualified. If the child is not qualified or the leaders have no heirs, then if the wolves in that rank die or step down due to retirement or old age, the betas would become alphas and the gammas would become betas with the ex-gammas choosing a new gamma pair. Likewise, the leader of the respective rank will choose a member of their subordinates to take over when they retire. If, for some reason, the leader of a rank dies; the leaders will choose a member among the respective rank to take over.

Werewolf Threats:

Council-The council are made up of formerly 12 houses, now down to 7 houses. They tend to be the most powerful and strongest of the werewolf communities, managing packs and sections of land like a chess set on a chessboard with the council as the players. The council are dangerous in that they can erase or alter one's memories, sever mating bonds, strip away a person's powers-if the wolf has powers-and are generally not to be trifled with or crossed in any manner. They are also not one to take bribes from or be in debt to as they will enforce said debts. Not a major concern for half-bloods, they aren't afraid of stepping in and will do so if they think their way of life is threatened or packs have attracted too much attention from humans or werewolf hunters. They also issue something known as The Trials, a way to punish members of the 12 pureblood houses who do not fall into line and obedience, though there is also a way for them to punish purebloods of lesser houses. In fact, half-bloods tend to be unaware of their existence while very few lesser pureblood houses know of them with the 12 houses being the only ones truly aware of their existence. The council has been known to issue old customs, mainly the old ways and things such as the Upbringing. They've also been known to sit back and not interfere in pack issues if someone is posing as a threat to their way of life and tend to make up laws to suit their own needs that aren't a part of werewolf society. The council, being usually the strongest and wisest wolves as well as the biggest of any pureblood, given they are the purest of wolves, are quite confident in their abilities. If one ends up being called to the council, usually a member of the 12 houses who is governing a pack, the wolf called before the council is lucky to come out alive and sane.

Hunters-Hunters are a threat to any wolf, both regular hunters and werewolf hunters. Werewolf hunters, often just called hunters by werewolves, tend to use specialized weapons and devices to hunt werewolves, either capturing or killing them. Some hunters are given werewolf pups by their families or they may be taken from packs to be used to track down other werewolves, given to laboratories for testing or just held in captivity. Hunters may also find ways to keep wolves in wolf form and sell them to dog fighting rings or specialized werewolf rings where they're trained and bred to fight each other. Hunters may kill a wolf and take their skin for blankets, clothing or rugs within their homes, believing they are doing a service to human kind, seeing themselves as protectors of the human race. They will even turn on their own families and friends if they are bitten or fall in love with a werewolf. If someone is bitten by a werewolf, it is a law in their code that they have to kill themselves before their first turning. Sometimes, you may get hunters who are hired by werewolves to kill other werewolves though this is rare.

Culling-Culling is where, in lean times, bad winters or the pack is too large to the point where they would attract attention from humans, a pack's alpha may limit the number of breedings to only the alpha pair and any other breedings that result in pregnancy would be aborted with a concoction of wolfsbane and aconite brewed in a tea. The mother will be forced to take the tea under the watch of a leader and healer or medic until the pups are aborted, then put in confinement for the rest of the heat season as well as endure physical punishment. Should a child be born alive after a culling has been put in place from an abortion or the children are born in secret, the children are killed before the parent and/or parents and both are punished for mating without permission. If the mate is a loner or of another pack, this usually involves banishment or the death of the loner/foreign pack member, should they be found. This isn't a too big threat unless you happen to be in Phantasm, though still something to consider...it's also a serious possiblity for pack members who mate with loners.

Captivity: Usually in line with Hunters, captivity is a very real thing for werewolves. They are often kept in large bear cages and generally have collars of silver and moonstones around their necks to keep them as wolves, sometimes but not always, accompanied by shackles on their wrists and ankles. Werewolves that are kept in captivity usually die within three weeks, this usually applies to elder werewolves and sickly or injured wolves, though pups who are often taken early or upon separation from their pack usually end up surviving and adjusting to captivity, meaning it is unlikely they will end up being able to function in the wild if they were rescued. Healthy werewolves tend to last longer though often end up losing the will to live. The reasons for this are poorly understood, but it seems to be a case of behavioral changes leading to a state of physical decline. Refusing to eat or sleep, they will become highly stressed as they try desperately to break free from their confines, causing an enormous release of adrenaline that forces their metabolism to go into overdrive. Unable and unwilling to meet the nutritional demands required to combat the rapid starvation caused by this, the werewolf becomes lethargic as it ages rapidly. Circulatory decline and organ failure occur shortly after.
