Name: Vincent Mansfield

Age: 26

Species plus description:
Human, though he dabbles in some minor magic. A flat six feet tall with soft, dark eyes and wild brown hair. Slim but muscular build.

At least one paragraph Biography:
Vincent is the eldest of the three sons of King Marcus and Queen Isabella Mansfield. His childhood was spent learning all of the worldly knowledge required of the king's heir and some of the arts performed by the court magicians. At sixteen he began attending the Kings' University with his peers where he was taught diplomacy and leadership. There have been no large tragedies or major hardships in his life, leaving him quite soft.

His peers at school often took advantage of his generosity, masquerading as his friends in exchange. As one of the oldest and most well-established kingdoms in the region, this wasn't really a problem until the last two years. Vincent knows things are in a slump for his kingdom and he has to be more careful with his gold, but he's positive this will all pass soon enough.

At least one paragraph of Personality:
Often referred to as 'The Silent Prince of Armondale,' Vincent tends toward quiet kindness. Having experienced a lifetime of safety and peace, he holds a positive view of humanity and believes others easily. Despite this, he's not unintelligent. He simply lives by a creed of "People are more important than things, and most people are generally good." When faced with something he doesn't understand or that doesn't align with his world view, Vincent tends to simply brush it off as 'well, I guess I have a lot to learn.'

It takes quite a bit of pressure to get under the prince's skin, but he does have a bit of a temper once set off. It burns hot and intense, but fizzles out as fast as it began, often leaving him feeling embarrassed.

Important skills/weaknesses:
Even his family never figured out that Vincent studied magic, so he has the element of surprise should he need to use it. He has fairly decent diplomacy skills and is absolutely brilliant with his sword.

On the flip side, he's easily manipulated, rather naive, and slow to mistrust. He's also deathly allergic to eggs.

Additional Information:

Vincent is bi, but has never divulged this information except to 1 classmate early in his school career. His younger brothers are Thomas and David, and he's incredibly protective of them. One surefire way to get his attention is to mess with his brothers.

Dominant species: Humans, followed by werewolves
Brief History:
Armondale was founded nearly 500 years ago by Sir Harold Mansfield. Through his ferocity he managed to gather nearly 150 villages under his control, making his land one of the largest kingdoms in the region. The boundaries have naturally changed over the centuries, though it seems fairly settled now that the northern boundary ends at the Fields of Fire, while the southern and western follow the banks of the Seculand River. The eastern boundary changes every few decades as Armondale fights with their neighbor and wins/loses land. They've been through a series of peaceful kings as of late, where the citizens have enjoyed peace and prosperity.

Most citizens live within five miles of the castle or along the boarder of the river, leaving much of the kingdom unexplored. However, since their major trade route has been disrupted due to a dispute with the kingdom of Marshland, expeditions have been periodically sent into these unexplored wild lands in search of materials that can be used to strengthen their economy once more.

Additional Information:

The current king, King Marcus, is still quite young and it is unlikely that Vincent will be called up to rule any time soon unless something untoward were to happen to his father. That being said, Marcus is always looking for ways to restrengthen his kingdom, even if that means using his sons as bargaining chips.

Name: Adrian Linmarcer
Age: 24
Species: Human

Biography:
Raised in a land so beseeched by monsters that the royal family never leave the castle walls, Adrian’s days were dark and filled with near-endless studying and combat training. As the only son, pressure to be the perfect heir was pushed on him from day one. Mistakes, flaws, emotions, and desires were punished immediately, and Adrian was encouraged to keep his family at arm's length because “as soon as she’s an adult, she’s moving to whatever country is useful enough to trade for her.” His mother died birthing his last sister.

Of course, children adapt to their surroundings and Adrian became who his father wanted, more or less. Oh, the occasional violent outburst was witnessed, and Adrian ended up becoming close enough to his sister Elizabeth to manipulate her more than the father could, but otherwise, the father couldn’t complain. Sending Adrian to the Kings’ University wasn’t because King Logan thought Adrian needed to learn something, but it was to make connections and find Elizabeth a potential, useful spouse. To no surprise, Adrian did just that and came home with the exact person he thought his sister should marry and a hundred reasons why Vincent Mansfield was the right choice.

Personality:
As a child, he was heavily criticized by his parents and older sisters for being emotional. He took things personally, cried, raged, loved, and made his emotions other people's problem… but that was then, more or less. The emotions have now been bottled behind a calm, friendly mask that is rarely removed besides in private, and worse, when the bottle overflows, his emotions are once again someone else's problem. In order to be the perfect son and prince, the words that come out of his mouth are almost always lies, and thoughts of violence and apathy loudly whisper constantly in the back of his mind.

All that being said, he works hard, stays focused, and is dedicated to any challenge placed in front of him. He will always try the diplomatic, or at least formal and manipulative, way to get what he wants before turning to violence. And since he views marriage as a tool, he plans to get married for power and find love outside of marriage. Even if he has to share his lover, he will have them.

Important skills/weaknesses:
+ Ruthlessness- Behind the kind and calm mask is a man who will do anything to get what he wants, and he will do it without regret. This cruelty is only held back by his desire not to show his true self to others.
+ Combat- As a citizen and prince of Kirron, he has been trained in the sword and fists so that he can defend himself from any beasts or foes that may target him. He’s quite good, and is a lot stronger than he looks.
+ Lies- Adrian has tried so hard to appear perfect that he has a master poker face and breaths lies. He’s not afraid to create gossip or manipulate for his benefit.

- Emotional- Although he tries very hard to hide it, Adrian actually is super emotional. He gets angry easily, he can be hurt easily, and he never lets go of a grudge.
- Perfectionist- He wants to make his father proud, so he does everything perfect. He cannot stand messing up or appearing foolish, weak, or embarrassing. Rather than deal with something he didn’t plan on, he will step away until he’s confident he can deal with the issue… and probably rage while in private. This is when his mask slips the most.
- Cloistered- Although not sheltered to the point of naivety, Adrian’s first time outside of the castle was to attend the Kings’ University. He was exposed to a lot of things and different people for the first time, and it made him so excited that he latched too heavily onto anything he encountered…including Vincent.

Additional Information: In order, his siblings are Sophia, Lillian, Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’, Selene, and Juliet. Lizzie is the one being offered up as a bride, and Adrian is the only one not engaged. Adrian is between Lillian and Lizzie in age.

Also, despite his nation's distrust of magic and monsters, he actually doesn’t have a personal issue with it…. Or at least he can overlook his dislike of these things in favor of something he likes more.

png-clipart-sword-of-the-stars-ii-lords-of-winter-logo-sword-logo-symmetry.png

Dominant species: Humans

Brief History:
Although initially a small island country plagued by monster attacks from the sea and land, it is now an empire that has overtaken all of the surrounding islands and even a chunk of the mainland through war, arranged marriages, and cunning trades. In fact, every single one of the many royal daughters is married off the moment they turn of age. Every single one of them is also trained in combat, even if some of them don’t look like it.

This is because attacks from beast-like monsters are common enough that every village has walls built around it and the royal castle has a dozen large, thick stone gates built to keep any invading force (human or monster) out. The royal family is barely even allowed outside of the castle just to ensure their safety. Even when not at war with nations, they are always at war with these monsters. No one has been able to figure out why this is such a problem for these people. Many simply call it a curse. Many don't know how right they are.

Unknown to everyone, the Linmarcer bloodline was cursed to be hunted by monster kind until the entire bloodline was wiped from the earth. Mostly beasts just following their instincts attack, but even intelligent monsters like vampires, fairies, demons, and more feel the compulsion to kill Linmarcers. The King doesn't know it, but he is unintentionally saving the lives of his family and people by sending his daughters far away to get married as soon as possible. The curse is spread out, not concentrated in one castle, so the monsters are also spread out.

This curse has created a culture that despises and distrusts monsters and magic, even intelligent and peaceful creatures like elves and mages.

Additional Information:
The current king is named Logan, and he is nearing his end. Thankfully, he is confident that Adrian will make a fine King and continue the lineage. A very traditional, strict, loveless man whose practicality to the point of emotionlessness was passed onto his only son.

Name: Kai Naveen
Age: 26
Species plus description: Shapeshifter- in this world, shapeshifters are a gender-fluid species that can turn into any human form and animal as long as they have physically seen them before. It must be a 100% transformation, so no human with bird wings or shark teeth. No matter the form, shapeshifters can recognize each other. There are some communities of shapeshifters that have never learned to speak and live as animals/monsters.

Biography:
The youngest of four, Kai has no shot at being King and so spends most of his time just having fun, meeting people, and avoiding his wife. Yes, he’s married, and he actually likes his wife! However, he is not in love with his wife. He loves Vincent. For years now, Kai has been popping up uninvited to playfully flirt. Whether or not Vincent thinks this is just fun banter or legit interest, Kai doesn't know. However, the idea that he and Vincent would eventually have some sort of relationship is fact to Kai. In his mind, it's an eventuality that he's never considered an impossiblity.

Kai was raised with no responsibilities. He was just another kid unexpectedly made, so even this man's education, manners, and privileges were not a priority. Kai does not mind. He has loved his life because he has all the money he could ask for and no job of any kind making him earn it. The most he was ever made to do was get married to another shapeshifter, which didn’t bother Kai at all cause polygamy and open relationships are super normal in his culture.

Personality:
Kai is a temperamental, honest man who never bites his tongue even when he really, really should. His heart is on his sleeve, and his heart pines for Vincent. They met long, long ago and since then Kai is known to randomly visit just to say hi and flirt with Vincent. After all this time, he feel entitled to Vincent's affections and has never considered that they would never end up together. He mostly has a soft heart, caring for and helping the needy… even though he will complain while doing so. This is wonderful mostly due to the fact that no one ever expected anything from him, so this rude form of kindness is all natural to him. He’s not faking a single thing.

The problem is, he is a man who makes bad choices. Shapeshifting to learn how people really feel about him, seduce someone, and more. He comes from a culture where not looking like yourself is normal, so pretending to be your husband to fuck you is also normal. He means no harm, he just doesn’t realize that what he is doing is bad until after he does it. He didn’t give it enough thought. He’ll apologize and mean it. But does that mean he won’t make a similar mistake again? No. And does he expect you to forgive him and get over it? Yes.

Important skills/weaknesses:
+ Shapeshifting- He can be a fly on the wall or replace your child, and naturally this makes infiltration, information gathering, and more a lot easier. It’s also why he can travel from kingdom to kingdom whenever he wants.
+ Creative- As someone with no set form, his solutions to problems are often insane to normal humans. Nothing he comes up with is predictable because his appearance is so unpredictable. Why just walk through a door when you can fly in as a ladybug and just appear behind them?

- Temper- Kai complains a lot. Give him any topic and he will find a way to bitch and bemoan, but typically it's just how he is. The problem is, since he’s always a touch annoyed, it's very easy for him to get to actual anger and he has a hard time keeping his mouth shut. This naturally gets him into trouble or causes fights. Sometimes his body matches his mouth, and he does physical crimes as well as verbal ones.
- Lying- Despite his shapeshifting, he’s not the best liar due to his impulsive nature which makes him never research who he is pretending to be. He’s lucky that most people trust their eyes more so than their ears.
- Impulsive- He doesn’t think things through, following his heart on every whim. Just like his temper, he does passionate and cruel things before his mind even considered that they were inappropriately passionate or cruel.

Additional Information: Kai is married to a noble from his kingdom named Rin. She is also a shapeshifter and very frustrated that her husband keeps running off to a foreign kingdom.

Name: Orlies
Kingdom Color and/or crest: Red and amber- Their crest is reminiscent of a chimera, a multiheaded beast, but for these shapeshifters, it is meant to represent their multiple forms.
DUl0A6uVQAAVWKU.jpg

Dominant species: Shapeshifters, although the population looks a touch low if you were to walk the city streets. That’s cause some of their population live as dragons, wolves, and birds outside of cities.

Brief History:
Orlies is a young nation. It’s barely fifty years old, created by and named after King Orlies Naveen. This is also the first nation where shapeshifters are not only considered true members of society but are actually in charge. Normally shapeshifters are distrusted assassins and saboteurs, but here? They are the main population. This has created a very flexible and non-judgemental nation where humans and a flock of birds are equal in standing. They trade with a large number of nations and generally use their various forms to appeal to and empathize with whoever they are speaking to. This makes this country one of the most varied populations ever seen in a single nation.

Additional Information:
Although there is a king and royal family, most power is actually in the hands of a council of various minded shifters. The king is just one of those voices.

Name: Silas Ichora
Age: 30 when he died, so technically 35 now though he does not age.
Species plus description: Ghost. He can pass through objects, possess people, move things with his mind, and make himself tangible for a temporary period. He also does not need to sleep, eat, or breathe.

Biography:
Born in Armondale, Silas used to be a Duke but unofficially abandoned his title in order to become a mage. Silas became renowned through his studies relating to the spirit… and he became infamous for dabbling in necromancy. See, Silas was obsessed with immortality and death, so he sought a way to continue living after death.

This was put into practice the night he and his family were murdered a mere five years ago.

Since then, he has been working for King Marcus as a tutor and librarian…and whatever else the king has him do. The work suits him, he has access to plenty of books to keep him occupied, but most importantly, there are guards standing between him and the many mages who want to turn this Duke into a magical lab rat. Unknown to even the king though, Silas is still pursuing his quest for true immortality and, perhaps, even revenge against those who killed him.

Personality:
A scholar and a mage who did what was thought impossible, Silas has an ego and doesn’t hide it. It’s a fact, after all. The world, magic, and people, they are all puzzles. Fun things to be studied and understood. Even the unknown can become the known. He’s rational in these thoughts. However, Silas is also fairly irrational when it comes to death. That is the unknown he fears because he spent most of his youth trying to understand it, to know what comes after, and he failed. And if Silas can’t understand something, he will first refuse to admit that, and then second try to avoid it. And so, immortality was his solution.

Similarly, perhaps due to his ego, Silas likes to make sure he is the smartest one in the room by never sharing his secrets. How did he invent a new spell? Cheat death? He won’t answer. Is he upset that he and his family were killed? How can he just sit around reading? Again, Silas will not answer… so there must be something in there he does not want to share. Information and knowledge are weapons that can be used against you if shared too quickly.

Important skills/weaknesses:
+Ghost- Being a ghost means that he can go invisible, move objects with his mind, and possess people. This is a flexible skill that Silas uses as best as he can.
+ Intelligence- Silas was very smart while alive, and now that he never sleeps, he's even more well-read than before. History, math, science, magic theory, etc.
+Magic- Officially, the story is that Silas can't actually do magic anymore. In truth, he can't do magic as a ghost, but if he possesses someone, then he can do magic. After all, spells come from the will and soul of the caster, not the body. His spells are also very spiritual, targeting the mind, dreams, and soul, so leave no marks.

- Strength- Silas is physically weak. As a ghost, keeping himself tangible is hard enough, let alone trying to do physical work. He has a better shot at moving things with his mind, but even that exhausts him. A portion of his mind/power must always be dedicated to keeping his soul on Earth.
- Fear- Just like in life, Silas continues to fear what comes after death. This ghost form is not the true answer to immortality he sought. He will not let himself die even if it means acting a traitor or coward.
- Mages- Silas did something no mage thought possible. Many mages want to study him, and he pointedly does not want to share any of his secrets. But that doesn’t mean no mage will try to do something against his will.

Additional Information: He used to have brown hair, light blue eyes, but going ghost bleached them both to pure white.

a3f93d22b0ac9530564fd5b43da04175.jpg

Name: Armondale, just like Vincent.

Brief History: The Ichora house has always been one of magic. Not enough to shape the world or anything, but if not acting in the political sphere, it was common for the younger heirs to become court magicians or travel to distant mage academies and refine their craft. They were never combat mages though.

This fact was proven five years ago when the entire family was slaughtered in a single night by an unknown group. Each body was drained of blood and their hearts were removed. A cult? Someone who intends to eat the hearts, believing that by doing so they will gain the magic of the family? Anti-noble anarchists? No culprit was ever found, though Silas does remember the face of the man who killed him.

The kingdom learned that Silas because a ghost when, on the day of his funeral, dozens of nobles watched as Silas’s body momentarily moved, then glowed, and from the coffin stepped a flickering image of the duke himself. He wears the clothing he was buried in to this day.

Additional Information: His body is being preserved at Silas’s request.

6efe6428c24c33c3f5c28b8637f967da.jpg
Name: Florion Lalantal
Age: 27

Species plus description: Elf- Elves are very much like humans in that they are multi-cultural and global. Some spend a large portion of their lives underwater, some build cities with markets and kings, and the one Florion belongs to is a mix between nature and civilization… and therefore so are the elves. On average, all elves live about twice as long as humans and mature slightly slower as a result. They also tend to be taller and a touch more slender, plus their inherent talent for magic is a touch higher as well. They die from illness and wounds easier though.

Biography:
About four years ago, Florion fell in love with a beautiful noble, elven woman from his land. He found ways to get close to her despite being a commoner himself and over the course of a year he was by her side daily. But then she fell ill, and Florion was starting to nurse her back to health when her parents asked for a second opinion and kept Florion away for a week. The girl suffered severe withdrawals, not from love, but from the addicting toxins Florion was feeding her to make her too ill and hazy to break up with him. Worse still, while in her weak mental state, he had actually convinced her that he was perfect for her and she’d die alone.

After he was exiled, unknown to Florion, she failed to overcome her addiction and mental trauma, and took her own life.

Florion offered his medical expertise to Armondale a few months before Vincent left for the Kings’ Academy. He fell in love with the beautiful young man instantly. Back then, Florion was just a random medical assistant in the castle, but over the years he rose to head physician and personally sees to any illnesses or injuries the king or the princes suffer. He has done all this just to get close enough to Vincent to once again have a beautiful, perfect partner hanging off his arm.

Personality:
Beauty is what Florion cares for the most in this world. He is very handsome and knows it all too well for he has spent a long time caring for his skin and body. He’s not cruel, he’s not even egotistical, he is vain. In nearly every other way than his looks and how he feels about other people’s appearance, he is humble and gentle. But ugly people are lesser, it’s a fact to him. Oh, he will treat them kindly, but he won’t work as hard to birth the child of an ugly woman or cure an old man as he would someone in their prime and flawless. Personalities maybe matter to him, he supposes he’d rather have someone also kind and sweet, but if he looks at them and sees a rotting shroom, then he’d never be able to fall in love anyway.

Vincent is the most beautiful person he has seen since leaving Elandar. He wants him. Not truly as a lover, though such things would be lovely, but someone to look at every day and stand beside him long enough to make onlookers swoon. Of course, Florion simplifies this vain ideal as the word love. He is not aware of just how ugly his mind is when it comes to beauty.

Important skills/weaknesses:
+ Poisons and Potions- an alchemist and a doctor, Florion can change the body chemically, and if the chemicals change, so does the mind. It clouds, it races, it can even learn to feel love at the very sight of the person who brings you the medicine your body craves.
+ Patient- He ages much slower than those around him, but even for an elf, Florion is a patient man. He takes great pains for his victims and test subjects to never know that they are being altered drop by drop. Typically by the time they start to feel different, the change is irreversible. What’s year? Two? Ten? His life has only just begun and can wait for perfection.
+ Flirty- Florion makes people swoon. He is gentle, kind, gorgeous, and always willing to help. And he’s not afraid to use his looks to his advantage. Oh, he’d never go so far as to sleep with the pigs that come after him, but some suggestive words or a kiss, he can just barely tolerate that.

- Experimental- He does not have the soul of a scientist or scholar, alchemy is just the tool he uses to get what he wants. Sadly, the target of his desire is often the one who gets poisoned the most because Florion wants to make sure he has them under his control but also keeps them as healthy as he can be. Plus, if he makes you sick, he can be the one to nurse you back to health!
- Criminal- In comparison to all the other men on this list, this guy actually has been charged with crimes and banished from his kingdom. And he has not done as much as he could have to hide this fact. This is his real name, he admitted to being from there, and if anyone wanted to check out the criminal records of Ealandar, they could with a warrant or just cause.
- Injuries- Florion does not fight. He does not know how to nor does he want to. Fighting makes scars and bruises. Florion will panic especially if his face is damaged, and if this happens, he could very well blackout and try to kill whoever scratched his face.

Additional Information: He’s never killed someone before!

Name: Elandar
Kingdom Color and/or crest: Green and silver

187d0348896577.58a4f4ac60777.jpg
Dominant species: Elves

Brief History:
Home to forest elves, this culture is unique in the way it is also a metropolis. There are towers that stand even taller than the ancient trees around them. Floors and buildings twist around trunks. But modern civilization breeds corruption. Just like humans, these elves strive for selfish gain in the form of wealth, power, and lust. The trees tend to be spared by this greed simply due to the magical connection these elves have to nature, but far too many bodies hit the dirt and fertilize the roots beneath. But what city doesn’t have crime? The elves here can only do what they can to eradicate those breaking the laws.

That being said, the elves of this land are not one for executions. They often see dying in the forest as returning your soul to the homeland. They prefer to expel and banish the actually wicked so that the negative thoughts do not return to the soil and infect their crops. Nature worship is a religion here, so any who uses nature to harm is considered blasphemous. Using it to make money to care for your family? Of course, that’s alright, even if you go a touch too far. But using it to kill or poison? Unacceptable. A banished elf can only return after 100 years.

Additional Information: Besides raw plant materials and crops, they also have a fantastic alchemist business and are a tourist attraction!

126420-boy-demon-anime-free-clipart-hq.png
Name: Caine
Age: 25, but actually about 662.
Species plus description: Demon- There is no heaven or hell in this world, but there is an “Other” side where mysterious and powerful creatures come from when they cross into this world through “tears” in reality. Some are kind, holy even, while others are not. They are unlike fairies in that they do not represent or embody aspects of reality/nature; they simply are what they are. Caine is one of these entities who thrive on suffering in various forms and whose appearance is so warped it's horrifying.

Caine specifically is a Skrell, a type of demon who can fly extremely quickly and whose scarlet breath causes all who come in contact with it to go into a bloodthirsty rage. Their nails and wings cut through bone easily. Interestingly, they have no eyes, but they can sense life forms and are attracted to areas where warm-blooded creatures can be found. They feed on whichever soul is last left standing after the frenzy though they have no biological need to eat. They are rare, but have been observed before and were even used in an ancient war once to turn the enemies against themselves.

Biography:
Caine was not born. He came into being within the tear. He appeared as a fully formed, fully conscious being with powers he understood and motivations he did not care to resist. Caine isn’t even fully aware of when he passed through the tear and entered reality. What he does know though is that 200 years ago his powers and free will was sealed by some vampire mages in a northern land known as Cessvallen. Since then, he was been passed around as a supernatural slave. These vampires are the ones who gave him the name Caine, and they are the ones who gifted Caine to King Marcus merely a few months ago as a butler/body guard slave. Vincent’s return from the Kings’ Academy would be the first time they met.

Caine is sealed within a ruby ring that is abnormally warm and occasionally tightens whenever Caine is trying to break the seal/the rules.

Obviously, he isn’t pleased being trapped like this, but he has adapted and accepted his current life. He’s honestly quite good at anything he’s told to do and can’t intentionally mess it up, but that doesn’t mean he has to do it quickly or kindly. It’s very common to see Caine quietly observing people and unobtrusively not minding his business.

Personality:
Despite being a demon, Caine is actually fairly laid back, or perhaps apathetic is more accurate. He yawns in the face of both hate and praise, and when ordered to do something, he does so in a purposefully sluggish but highly competent way.

This also applies to his brutality though. He kills without even a blink, and he is calmly vocal about how he'd kill everyone in the castle slowly if he could. Clearly, Caine doesn't like being bound, he's just fairly stoic for a demon… but a demon is still a demon. Pain, corruption, lies, he enjoys them all. Since he can’t fully indulge in these desires though, he rebels in small ways. Doing jobs slowly, doing them in ways that inconvenience others, and taking every chance to do harm when the right conditions are met. He also almost never does anything the master does not force him to.

On one good side, he’s an optimist who fully believes that things will always get better or you will die, which is fine cause the problem's solved. Dark optimism. Personally, he fully believes that he will be free one day, and he’s just waiting for that day. If he has a plan besides just waiting, no one knows it.

Important skills/weaknesses:
+Strength- Being bound has sealed all of Caine's abilities besides his natural, physical strength. He can punch through a body easily, and take a punch just as easily. This includes his bite strength which he can and will use to eat raw meat.
+ Immortal- Whether because of what he is or because his true self is sealed in the ring, Caine can’t die. Though not easy, he can be beaten and broken, but feels no pain and eventually just stands back up again. He offers to let people stab him instead of ever actually apologizing. Some have taken him up on that offer.
+ Music- Shockingly, Caine can play various instruments. He learned from the vampires who first bound him, and it's one of the few innocent things he actually enjoys… although he also likes to make violins screech in a way that is almost beautiful in its own right.

- Apathy- He doesn’t care about much, which not only makes him unlikable to many, it means that if things start to go bad around him, they have to get very very bad before he steps in and does something about it. It’d be a form of self-punishment if Caine cared enough even about that.
-Bound- Being bound in this way means that Caine’s true form and abilities are sealed. Inaccessible. He is also forced to follow the commands of his master and cannot harm any human unless they plan to harm his master... but animals and enemies are free game.
- Distrust- Even if Caine hid his true nature, just the fact that he is a demon typically means that the average person distrusts and hates him. Even when he is being used as the perfect tool, he is never treated as a being with feelings.

Additional Information: Part of the reason he’s so stoic is that in his true form, he does not have a face to express himself with.

Name: Cesvallen
Kingdom Color and/or crest: A blood moon, so obviously red, black, and white.

1707226_1.jpg

Dominant species: Vampires, with humans a close second.

Brief History:
As a species of near-undeath, living in a colder climate makes their blood hunger far less powerful. Of course, that does not mean that they do not need human slaves they keep as walking, dazed blood bags. Still, because these vampires are not wasting time hiding their existence and don’t need to feed as much in the cold, they are free to master many crafts. Arts, music, magic, swordplay. Most vampires treat these as hobbies just to make immortality pass faster, but some are true craftsmen. The vampires who sealed Caine, in fact, come from a place known as the Scarlet Tower. It’s a place to study magic renowned across continents. It’s not a school, it’s more of a research destination with a whole lot of funding.

Additional Information: It was actually built on the ruins of an ancient destroyed kingdom.

Name: Carabus
Age: 28, but actually 1,038
Species plus description: Fairy/Fey- standing at only a few inches over 5 feet, their wings are even larger than their bodies, each fairy is different in the way they manifest based on what natural thing they embody. For example, as a shadow fairy: not only does he manifest darkness, but also the small things that hide within that darkness. Insects, assassins, stalkers you don’t even know are there until they touch you, and more.

Biography:
Carabus did not come here as a friend. Just as the nation started to struggle and King Marcus started to send people into the forest, that is when Carabus appeared with dangerous intent. After killing a single guard, he warned the nation to continue to keep around the river and out of the forest, just as they had done up until now. The unknown was not theirs to explore. Seeing this as a threat and opportunity, a deal was brokered. A simple one too. Obviously, people would still be sent out to explore and gain resources, but they’d be cautious and not trample or destroy all they came across. Carabus would even point them in helpful directions sometimes. Clearly, though, there is something specific he doesn’t want them to find, though no prodding could make Carabus say what.

So now Carabus waits, and listens, to the guards and King. The moment one of them breaks the deal or even shows signs of wanting to, that is the moment Carabus will stop waiting.

That being said, since refusing to leave and deciding to honor this deal with King Marcus, Carabus has been helpful. No one has ever entered the castle secretly without the guards learning of it. Carabus doesn’t even enter the castle too much, preferring balconies and the gardens. So far, two assassination attempts have been thwarted by Carabus alone. He’s honest about why. “I’d rather deal with you and your heir than the swarm of mortals that follow your whims. If you die, I have to deal with whatever mortal takes your place. This is easier.”

Personality:
He looks down on humans, well, any non-fey in a cocky, swaggering way. His disdain for the species he is surrounded by is poorly covered. In fact, it seems like he only tries to be decent towards the King and the princes, aka people who will eventually have power and can give him what he wants. And what he wants is for humans to stay out of his forest. To everyone else? There is a blunt, casual meanness in the way he deals with them. Insults are given with a smile and a friendly tone that never lasts long enough for people to think he’s joking. But he isn’t here to be nice, he’s here to do a job and do his job.

At least Carabus is enjoying himself.

In conflict and in relaxation, he finds ways to make encounters fun for him. However, he can be pushed over the edge fairly easily when humans start to truly disgust him. When this happens, he does tend to kill them or at least make them wish they were dead. A bug or a harmful truth in the ear can do irreparable damage.

On one potentially good note, he finds beauty in things most people don’t, and not just bugs. A broken but repaired piece of pottery has charm, scars are a sign of a life lived, and flaws of the soul are what make you unique.

Important skills/weaknesses:
+ Insects- Not only does he control and seemingly create insects from shadows, but he can share their vision. Every corner of the palace has moth, spider, or biting centipede acting as his eyes and ears. He knows a lot and as such, makes a fabulous guard since no one can sneak in without him choosing to ignore it.
+ Shadows- He can control darkness and birth whatever he wishes from it as long as it's in connection to his nature. Often Carabus births insects from this darkness, but he also manifests a shadow exoskeleton reminiscent of human bones and beetle plates over his left hand and feet, creating a more inhuman and dangerous appearance.
+ Swarm- If damaged too much, Carabas will explode into a swarm of mosquitos, moths, or other small critters and scatter. If you don’t kill each one of those bugs, then he will not die. He will be gone for some time, but he will not die. After all, many bugs can survive without limbs or a head.

- Changeable- Fey are not stable creatures. They embody one thing but within that one thing are countless others. Darkness leads to secrets that lead to hiding than to bugs, and bugs are related to hive minds, then to primal fears, and so on. These embodiments can contradict each other, but at the very least, a fairy’s mind rarely picks a side for long. And all but the strictest of fairies follow whatever whim takes them. Humans sometimes call it a form of madness.
- Mean- Blantantly mean to others, and borderline emotionally abusive to the royal family, Carabus uses his secrets to hurt, terrify, and isolate people. Sometimes with a purpose, sometimes not, but many souls know that his tongue is poison and his smile is not him trying to be kind. He’s just enjoying himself.
-

Additional Information: Carabus talks and acts like a man with authority, though its unknown if he is actually anyone of import in fey society. The crown seen in the images isn't actually there.

Name: The Aurora Castle within the Tears
Dominant species: Demons, fairies, and plenty of other such things

Brief History:
Tears are portals to a place without a name. No human has entered one and returned, but many things exit them. Dangerous and powerful beings to harmless and lovely beasts. No one ever knows what will escape or where these portals appear. Studies show that the presence of magic is often a catalyst, but it can also be quite random. A portal in the middle of the ocean, drawing in the sea and whatever ships pass by, for example.

One place that has been proven by first-count testimonies is a land populated by fairies. Oh, no it's not a tangible place like Earth, but a place where the land and sky around them shift just as easily as the fey themselves do. One such place is simply known as Aurora Castle a place found where the northern lights meet and in any lake where the full moon is perfectly centered. But far more people have frozen in northern winters or drowned in the lake than have ever reached the crystalline palace. And the fey here often find the attempts amusing.
