Poetry Championships

Here is a poem that I wrote before while in middle school.

Swish goes the net
The crowd cheers
Only five seconds left
The score is very near
Players running up and down the court
To them, this isn’t just a sport

It is a way of life
Sweat beading down the face
Heavy breathing in this noble space
The clock is ticking
The coaches are cheering
The buzzer sounds
Just as the player makes the shot
The whole place cheers
The player’s team rushes to him
Hugging and crying as they hold up
The goal they worked so hard to earn

The future is bright
The smiles galore
The coaches happy
The joy is ever born
The prize is won
The journey of a lifetime has just begun.
