~Armageddon's Call~

"There shall come a time when the sins of men be visited upon him, and the Gates of Heaven shall remain closed, silent in response to his forlorn cries." - Lucas Ainsworth, December 12 Year 2012.

  • Year 2012: Several people begin prophesying about the end of the world. Among them, was Lucas Ainsworth a former scientist, now a pastor in a small church. Unlike the rest who spoke of natural disasters, his descriptions were far beyond their imaginations... different. Not unexpectedly, they were ignored.
  • Year 2013: The first few strange creatures were discovered. Rare occurrences, they were quickly put down before much harm came to the public. Scientists call them a new breed of creatures, evolved beings, or some forgotten species. Others call them demons. Strange weather patterns prompt the governments to think twice about an impending disaster; though they still refuse to believe in the end of the world. Project Utopia begins.
  • Year 2017: Due to massive funding and new breakthroughs in construction tech engineering, Project Utopia nears completion. Futuristic Self Sustainable Cities (SSC's) are erected in almost every major state. Recent technological advances have given birth to the energy barrier, a forcefield capable of absorbing shock waves and radiation. Coupled with the high walls of the various Utopias, these cities are capable of protecting its inhabitants from nearly any form of natural disaster, from tidal waves to nuclear fallout. No 'demon' sightings have been reported for the past year.
  • Year 2018, AJ 1: The End of the Old World, a new and more terrifying one begins. AD 2018, or rather, Anno Judicium 01 in 'the year of Judgement'. The world which Lucas Ainsworth saw in his mind's eye, six years prior. Portals of Fire materialize all over the world. From within their fiery interiors, horrors emerge. Swarms of savage bloodthirsty demons, quickly overwhelming all initial resistance by the armies. In panic, some governments launch nuclear weapons at the portals; it did more harm than good, the portals were indestructible, while miles of land became uninhabitable. It was Judgement Day. Non-believers turn to their governments and technology, believers pray for the Rapture, pray that they be taken straight up to Heaven... nothing but silence was their answer.
  • A.J. 02: Humankind struggles to survive, no longer thriving on earth. Some managed to hole up in the Utopian SSCs. Current Weapons Tech are only effective for a certain time. Over time, the demon's became more and more resistant to attacks; especially weapons of the modern world. Ammunition composition had to be changed, different explosives will have to be used. There are many varieties of arms, but there are even more demons. Some SSCs have already fallen, and many more will fall. Still, the non-believers put their trust in earthly knowledge, science and technology. But to those who still hold their faith... those who live in fear and terror, but never seized to hope... to them, the first angels appeared.

~The Present~

Gatekeep coat-of-arms

It is now A.J. 25, twenty five years since Judgement, as that day was called. Most of the SSCs still stand, but they fight a losing battle. Unbeknownst to most of them, a separate organization called the Gate Keepers have come into being. Daily, they oppose the demon swarms, with weapons only those who Believe can wield. Made with a silver alloy called Felanium, soaked in Holy Water and blessed by the angels who helped them, they can continually use them against the unholy without fear that they grow immune. Ever vigilant, they seek to add to their numbers. Whether one be a Utopian or a Wanderer (those who survive in small communities or alone), all were welcome as long as they Believed. Believe that someday, Heaven shall shine its cleansing light upon the blighted lands, as told in the prophecy the angels brought with them.

[/media]
On the twenty fifth year, seek ye O son of men,

A Morning Star it shall be, Of place only the Avarin shall know,

Thus the Star shall guide thee to a place unknown,

And ye shall't find a boy, one Chosen,

To him be granted the power, power to cleanse the land of evil so ancient,

Only then shall paradise and peace come unto you.

. , ; ' ` ~ * ~ ` ' ; , . , ; ' ` ~ * ~ ` ' ; , .

Though helped by the Avarin, the Gate Keepers were still no match for the sheer numbers that poured forth from Hell's Portals. Though they brought hope to the people, in some aspects it was perhaps worse than it was before. For reasons unknown, Heaven remained silent, and Earth was shut out to them. The Avarin were the only Angels to take pity on Earth and chose to help them, though at great cost to their numbers and original power. Banished for defying Heaven, even portions of their memory were missing. Enough survived to bring knowledge of legendary weaponry and the Prophecy, but enough will never be enough. Their numbers, scattered to all the various Sanctums of the Gate Keepers, dwindled with each battle.

~Weapons and Equipment~

Just as a general idea of things. You can come up with your own, and if it's balanced should be fine.

Automatic Rifles - Not limited to rifles, but basically any weapon that has a high rate of fire. These weapons can only be loaded with standard Felanium shells. As such, it will take quite a few shots to bring down a demon. Damage scale 5/10.

Bows/Crossbows - Much slower rate of fire, but used for its simplicity and stealth. The silver arrows and bolts are all painstakingly made. Engraved with Holy Verses, these bolts do more damage than their piercing edge. The mere touch of the metal burns all things unholy. Damage scale 7/10.

Snipers - Applies to all single fire weapons. Where the snipers lack in speed, they make up in deadliness. The slow rate of fire allows the use of Gospels, Felanium bullets encasing a vial of Holy Water. A single shot straight to the vitals is enough to take down most ordinary demons. Damage scale 8/10.

Melee Weapons - Made with the hardest of Felanium alloys, damage by these is determined by not only the weapon, but also the skill with which it is wielded. Daggers generally have less damage than swords. Damage scale 5-9/10

Magic - Limited to Avarin. The powers of the Avarin are not limited to healing and blessing. With but a prayer, the Avarin can call down scorching light upon unholy flesh. Though the use of such divine power quickly attracts more demons, moreso that the blast of a gun. Takes time to cast and generally used as a last resort. Damage scale 10/10.

b4098008-e031-4e59-bf6b-5a89798acd87.jpg

Gatekeeper Sanctums are often hidden such as in the foothills of mountains and usually only have one easily defensible main entrance.

~Things you should know~

  • Avarin are the only ones who can wield magic. Their reflexes and strength is perhaps only slightly better than the average human. However, with their blessings, Avarin can imbue themselves or even humans to become greatly enhanced. When wielding melee weapons, they can do more damage to demons due to their experience and celestial blood. However, this also means they take more damage when hurt. All Avarin wear a chain pendant (called an Oathkeeper) to suppress their powers, limiting their magic to healing. Only when faced with certain death, they can break the Oathkeeper to unleash their power.
  • The claws of demons are poisonous. As such, power suits will have to be worn. These suits or armour are powered by both magic and energy. This has been aptly named FAITH Systems, and was developed by the late Lucas Ainsworth with the aid of the Avarin. More explanation of FAITH Systems will be below.
  • You can RP as either a human or Avarin (angel, though there will be restrictions on the number of these). As a human, you can start of as either a Gate Keeper or an Acolyte. Acolytes are in training and can be from a Utopian SSC or a Wanderer.
  • Gate Keepers live in a semi medieval semi futuristic environment. Horses, cars, castles and magic fields instead of the utopian energy fields. Our starting location will be somewhere in the United States on mountainous and forest terrain, but not months away from the ruins of a city (I'm purposely vague here to give more freedom later. Also, the landscape of places have changed drastically since Judgement due to the many wars)
  • We will start 25 years after Judgement. The Avarin are in the process of deciphering their scriptures to determine the location of the star. I will be roleplaying as Lucas Ainsworth's Grand Daughter, someone else can-will RP as my husband =] The background of the other characters are up to the rest.
  • Most demons are your usual nightmares, anything you can imagine out. On occasion, there are greater demons. These are smarter and can actually speak O__O!
  • A demon's weak spot is its heart (middle of torso, just above belly) or head (Yeah, I know its the same as a human's, put it this way. Shooting a human in the arm/leg still hurts a great deal and could eventually kill given time. Shooting a demon there hurts way less than that. ^_^ ;)
  • Though they can appear and fight anytime of the day, most demons (except the really powerful ones) are at their weakest in the hour of dawn (~5-6am). Conversely, they are more powerful at the hour of sundown (~6-7pm). They are most powerful during 'Darkest', the 3-4am hour.
  • The Gate Keepers have fortresses called Sanctums all over the world. Each Sanctum is managed (not quite ruled) by a Cardinal. Below the Cardinal are the Exarchs. Exarchs perform a variety of responsibilities: leader of expeditions or even the head scientist, working with the Avarin to develop new weapons. They are aided by Deacons, officers to help in the chain of command. Crusaders are those who fight on expeditions and Sentinels are the ones who guard the castle Sanctum. Though there is a hierarchy of rank, the Gate Keepers generally revere 'experience' more than rank.
  • Avarin do not have ranks, although each Sanctum has an appointed Patriarch/Matriarch to lead them. They also do not have wings. They probably did in the past, but the journey through the planes of existence to get to earth stripped them of some power.
  • Any questions, PLEASE don't hesitate to ask :D !

~F.A.I.T.H. Systems~

The main architect of the Gate Keepers' unique technology, Lucas Ainsworth managed to combine the powerful magic of Blessed Waters with the technological advances of the human race to create a unique combat armour, deemed the F.A.I.T.H. System. The F.A.I.T.H. Systems have been incorporated into power suits. Each suit has a specific F.A.I.T.H. core, designed to enhance specific abilities. Below you will find the different Cores available.

Faith is used to shield from harm as well as enhance movements. As such, during combat, everyone starts with a set percentage of Faith to be written at the end of their post (e.g. 100%). Taking damage or using abilities will reduce Faith levels. Generally starting at 3% per special ability, also depending on the severity of the situation; I will leave the power level reduction up to the individual puppeteer as this is just to make sure things stay practical. Faith can be replenished via prayers and Blessed Waters in specific places of a Sanctum (Blessed Waters are purified by the Avarin over a week to retain its magical properties. Yay for mineral water *-*!)

~REVELATION ARMS~

photo-1.jpg

Most Faith Cores have the ability to activate the Revelation mode. Activating Revelation mode immediately reduces Faith levels by 30 percent (flat amount) and doubles the energy cost of all abilities. However, the further enhanced abilities (unique to each Core) gained when using the mode could turn a losing battle into a battle won.

~F.A.I.T.H. Cores~

**Under stats and abilities, the points each represent the power enhancement relative to an average human; e.g. strength +1.0 means that with the suit, your strength is 2 times that of your base character's strength as a normal human. Reflexes is how fast the suit can react in close quarter movements, such as the swing of an arm. Agility is the sustained speed or power of the suit, such as the running speed and how long that speed can be maintained. Sensory is the suit's inbuilt environmental fluctuation equipment (wind speed, sound detection, sight scope distance) and targeting systems, this is highly beneficial for marksmen using any form of projectile weapons to shoot the highly mobile demons.**

Core Name:
Alpha Core

Info: The first Faith Core to ever be created, it was also one of Lucas Ainsworth's crowning achievements and for some reason, he could not replicate it. Although somewhat lacking in terms of specs, it boasts the highest amount of stored energy compared to the other cores. Base Faith energy level is 300%.

Stats and abilities: Strength +1.0, Reflexes +1.5, Agility +1.0, Sensory +2.0

Ability: Helping hand. The Alpha Core can channel its Faith energy to replenish the depleted supplies of another core or generate an energy shield.

Revelation Mode: Eden's Bulwark. The Alpha core can form a protective shield to protect all other Faith Systems nearby from harm. Damage taken by others will be rendered on the Alpha Core.

User: Sensadelia Ainsworth

photo-3-1.jpg

Omega Core

Core Name: Omega Core

Info: The latest core to be developed, and is still in its prototype stages. Its design was left unfinished by Lucas Ainsworth and was later finished by the Exarchs. As such, Faith energy consumption is doubled in normal mode, and quadrupled in Revelation mode. Base Faith energy level is 200%.

Stats and abilities: Strength +4.0, Reflexes +1.0, Agility +1.0, Sensory +1.0 You may rearrange the points if you wish, max 7 points.

Ability: Zeal. Core user may at will rearrange 3 points from strength into reflexes, agility or sensory, or vice versa. Each swap costs Faith Energy.

Revelation Mode: Unique ability by RP-er

User:
Sensadelia Ainsworth's husband.

Standard issue mass produced Cores. L - Sentinel Core, R - Crusader Core

Core Name: Crusader Core

Info: Mass produced core. Base Faith energy level is 100%.

Stats and abilities: Strength +1.0, Reflexes +0.5, Agility +1.0, Sensory +0.5

Ability: n/a

Revelation Mode: n/a

User: Crusaders and Sentinels.

juggernaut.jpg

Caliburn Core. Juggernaut of the Gatekeepers

Core Name: Caliburn Core

Info: One of the few specialized cores designed by Lucas Ainsworth himself. Excels in brawn and has higher than average faith levels for extra defense. Base Faith energy level is 150%. Core is also the largest in terms of size.

Stats and abilities: Strength +3.0, Reflexes +1.0, Agility +1.0, Sensory +1.0

Ability: Smite. Even without a proper weapon the Caliburn Core is more than able to pack a punch. With its superior strength and powered gauntlets, a punch from this armour can send shockwaves through a demon's body or tremble the ground.

Revelation Mode: Judgement. The juggernaut core gains a further +2.0 boost to strength, increasing smite's effectiveness. Smite can also be performed with both hands (as opposed to one, in normal mode).

yggdrasil-2.jpg

Yggdrasil, the master of melee

Core Name: Yggdrasil Core

Info: One of the few specialized cores designed by Lucas Ainsworth himself. Excels in quick movement. Base Faith energy level is 100%.

Stats and abilities: Strength +0.5, Reflexes +3.0, Agility +2.0, Sensory +0.5

Ability: Leap of Faith. Enhanced mechanics in the boots and stabilizers in the hands have allowed this core to perform extra-human acrobatic feats. Leaping a fifteen foot wall, performing a backflip, and then reversing the flip again, and again under 2 seconds.

Revelation Mode: Vindicator. The Yggdrasil core is able to move short distances (3 feet) or react at blinding speed so much so that it creates a mirror image of itself in its previous position. Can only last 10 seconds before overheating.

avalon.jpg

"He will be dead, before he even knows it!"

Core Name: Avalon Core

Info: One of the few specialized cores designed by Lucas Ainsworth himself. Excels in scouting and ranged weaponry. Is outfitted with ground stabilizers to help with sniping in difficult positions. Base Faith energy level is 100%.

Stats and abilities: Strength +0.5, Reflexes +2.0, Agility +0.5, Sensory +3.0

Ability: Lightwalker. Stealth technology have enabled the Avalon core to literally stalk under the noses of lesser demons, and even some of the more intelligent ones.

Revelation Mode: Judicator. The Avalon core powers up the weapons it is synchronized to, greatly increasing its power and rate of fire. Gains a +1.0 to reflexes and strength.

~Oathkeepers~

Oathkeepers are mainly used to suppress the Avarin's power when stepping beyond the protective walls of a Sanctum. Out in the open. such Celestial powers are easily detected by demons and will attract them. Avarin do not bother with FAITH cores. They wield their magic and melee weapons, fighting armoured or in battle robes. Though they all wear their Oathkeepers, they can still use some of their abilities other than the default blessing and healing. Some Avarin imbue themselves written sigils on their bodies which allows them to perform more regulated spells and blessing without releasing too much power.

Whole and great once we were,

Cast away for the seeds of pity kindled within us,

Bound and crushed we came, our bodies caressed by the void,

But our Spirits burned, an eternal flame,

And so fight we will, striking as the shattered skies,

For we may be chained, but we are Unbroken!

-Avarin battlecry

Flame of the Spirit. Used by avarin aligned with the element of fire. They can enchant their equiment to wreath it in flames or use minor fire spells, such as hurling a firebolt.

Caress of the Void. Similar to Flame of the Spirit, but used by avarin aligned with the ice element. The magnitude of the first three avarin's spells greatly increases when the oathkeeper is broken.

The Shattered Heavens. Primal energy and the element of air. These avarin can manipulate gusts of wind and reshape the earth.

Chained but Unbroken. A rare Oathkeeper as the Avarin who wear them are few. Have lost their ability to tune the elements yet they have retained a relatively vast portion of raw power. They regenerate themselves more rapidly than usual when given the chance to recuperate (not in battle), and wield Sommerswerds; a gauntlet that helps them to channel their powers to rapidly conjure weapons of light. When the Oathkeeper is broken, these avarin regain their wings and is bathed in a protective light. They also gain the ability to create force blocks (like a 3 foot square hovering in thin air) for defense or mobility. Eyes aflame, they dive into battle with enhanced will and strength, fighting until they fall.

I am a regular though not a very active RP-er. As such, I only need you to commit one post per week for this RP.

If you are no longer able to join us, or will be gone for a while, please give me a reason. It doesn't have to sound valid, any reason will do ;)

I need applicants to be proficient with the English language. This is not a RP for beginner writers. If I think you do not make the mark, sorry... That being said, I highly value quality over quantity. A good sized paragraph of splendid work trumps pages of illegible scribbling.

Think you've got what it takes? Hop on!

0532 hours, Two Days Ago

"Alpha to Avalons, do you copy?"

The transmitted voice broke over the intercom, clearly female and in the cool demeanor of one who was accustomed to giving orders. Though there was something familial about it... there always was.

"Wisp copies." A soft voice, followed almost immediately by the smooth drawl such as those akin to the fighter pilots of the past age.

"Alcatraz ready and waiting."

The Skies were a blood red, a growing crimson in the east, darkness to the west. A constant wind blew across the desolated landscape, rustling what was left of the desecrated growths that had once been rocky hills and lush bountiful trees. Atop a low cliff, carefully concealed by a copse of twisted trees which had refused to die, were several forms, their movements barely distinguishable against the still dark sky. Glowing rivulets of their faith energy gleaming softly along their armoured forms, though not enough to give away their position. Huddled over a couple of portable computer screens was a woman, the breeze blowing several strands of blond hair across her pale face. Subconsciously, she blew at her hair to keep them from obscuring her vision. A frown crossed her face as she studied the graphs and readings across the screen.

nova.jpg

"Proceed as planned. The energy readings are stable so there should be no trouble. The readings in sector 6 and 7 are distorted though, probably an after effect of the nuke fallout. I've uploaded the coordinates into your system, you should have them about. . . now. Wisp, take route A, I want you to keep an eye on that distortion. Alcatraz, take route B straight to the gate as briefed. Wisp, cover his back."

Liralis.jpg

"Wisp understands."

"Gotcha madame! Now you watch my cute butt carefully, baby girl-"

"Wisp will maintain radio silence from this point onward..."

"Aw, spoil sport. Fine then, radio silence initiated, don't want those hell-blooded enthusiasts to hear us do we?"

. , ; ' ` ~ * ~ ` ' ; , .

The line went silent then and Delia smirked at the latest exchange between the two gatekeepers. Except for the minute nearly undetectable breathing sounds, it would seem that the two were dead. If all went well, they would be out of here in no time, zero casualties, zero shots fired. All they had to do was plant the charges, return then detonate it.

A sudden buzz over the radio snapped Delia's attention like a whip. What are they doing? What happened to radio silence?

"WATCH YOUR SIX! EURICA-!"

In the distance, Delia thought she heard the Avalon's sniper go off, though that was impossible as they were silenced.

"Alpha to Avalons, what's going on? Speak!"

Even as she uttered those words, her eyes flashed towards the computer screens. What she saw took her breath away, and a chilling fear gripped her spine. Delia heard the harsh breathing of Wisp before it was interrupted by Alcatraz's cry.

"We've been compromised, I don't know how, but they appeared out of nowhere! EURICA! TAKE HIM DOWN! GREAT SHOT, THAT'S MY GAL!"

The excitement in his voice was evident, and Delia did not like it one bit, not in this situation. Especially... she glanced at the converging multitude of red dots on the two green arrows of her screen.

"Pull back now! We'll go in with force, wait for the others! Retreat!"

"We got this, I'm almost there! They cannot know our exact positions."

"Alcatraz! Wisp! Retreat now! It's an order!"

"Al, NO!"

"Almost- HNNH AAAARH!"

The blood curling scream was so intense Delia had to shut her eyes and clutch her forehead. But she could not stop now, her friends were in danger, Eurica was out there!

"Wis- Eurica! What happened? Talk to me! We're going in now! Keep retreating!"

Sensadelia looked to the large blond haired man who had been standing beside her, his armour very much unique to the others, the frantic look in her eyes said everything. But he was already moving, springing into action with the others, always ready.

"S-Sis... Alcatraz... h-he-" Then there was a burst of static and the line went dead. But Delia was already sprinting down the hill towards the desecrated valley, and her sister.

The dusty ground whirled in little twisters as the breeze swept across the valley floor. Set in an alcove within the surrounding rocky hills was Hell's Gate. Forty feet tall, constructed of dark obsidian stone and with twisted runes written in blood marring its surface.

The air shifted suddenly, a distortion of the visual surrounding as if something unseen was moving beneath a layer of background. It shifted away from the wretched Gate, moving swiftly but in a haphazard fashion, grunts and the occasional cry of pain could be heard. There was a spark and then lines of twisted blue energy crackled in the empty air, only it was not empty air anymore, but the form of a man half walking-half leaning on someone. Seconds later, red lines of energy (instead of crackling, they were smoother and ran from the ground up) hummed through the dusty air as a red Avalon core de-cloaked itself.

"l-leave me..."

Al Sanchez managed to gasp out, choking from the blood bubbling up through his lungs.

"C-Core energy... zero... nothi-", wracking coughs shook his frame and Eurica shook her head vehemently, Al blinked when he felt a drop of cool liquid hit his cheek. Squinting through the pain, he saw tears flowing freely from his love's face.

"It's not your fault.."

It broke his heart, but he knew he could not change her mind. It was his foolish bravado that had finally gotten them killed, his luck had run out. And he was sorry he had to leave her this way. Who would look out for her now? But even as he felt the coldness of death grip his heart, something warmed him from deep within. It was inexplicable, but in a moment, he saw it all and knew that she would be alright.

"I love you..."

. , ; ' ` ~ * ~ ` ' ; , .

She kept walking on, even when she felt the last gasp of breath escape his lungs. She refused to let go, even when she heard the terrifying shriek of the approaching demons so close behind her. Finally, spotting a ring of large rocks forming a natural enclosure, she dragged themselves in. Laying the now cooling body of her friend gently down, she lowered her visor and removed the silencer at the end of her rifle. Red targetting reticules appeared on her vision as the Avalon's system powered up.

"Activate Revelation Mode..." The whisper carried into the air, a precursor of the thunder that was to come.

Revelation Mode activated. Please standby.. There was a rising hum and the rivulets of Faith energy throughout her body suddenly burst into crimson light. I am your judicator, and I bring death

KACHUMM! It was a familiar sound...

Twenty yards out, the lead demon was blown apart in a splatter of blood. The shot firing cleanly through, ripping it in half and killing another two that were following closely behind.

"They will pay..."

Galin picked a few blades of grass and turned them in his armour plated fingers. Still squatting he let the small pieces of vegetation fall, watching as they fell a few feet to the right. Slowly he stood up referencing his HUD and then the place where the grass had fallen. Wind speed of 10.25 miles per hour checked out. Sighing he unslung his shield looking for any dents to buffer or spots to polish. Finding nothing he returned the weapon to his back where it clicked into place. Diagnostics had been run, his weapon was battle ready, armour reflex synchronization was functioning flawlessly, core level at 100%, and all the dandelions within a ten foot radius had been decapitated. Galin let out a frustrated huff then turned his attention to the sky. Deftly he reverted all sensory power his targeting system and tried to relax. God vanguard duty was dull. Suddenly his sensors flared up highlighting movement just at the corner of his peripheral vision. Galin spun, shield moving from his back to his left arm in a fluid motion, just in time to see the boss charging towards the valley. “Alpha this is Marks, what's happening”. Harsh crackling static assaulted his ears leaving him momentarily baffled. Quickly checking his HUD he felt the need to bash himself over the head. Making some minor adjustments Galin heard a familiar soft buzz that signaled he was on the right station. “Alpha, radio malfunctioned, I’ve been dark for......” Glancing at his HUD he cursed his own stupidity. “....twenty minutes.Situation unknow, please advise.” Shield still held at the ready Galin wondered if the others had noticed his rookie mistake. If they had he’d never be able to live it down and if this situation was serious he’d never allow himself to live it down.

Shauna was sitting on a small rock near Galin who seem to be working on something with his HUD. Shauna just continued to work on her knife with a sharpening stone. She had lost thought of everything around her and was just concentrated on working on her knife and working. She had placed her rifle and gun besides her so if someone snuck behind her, sge would have at least a fighting chane to grab her weapons and fire back. " Hey Galin, how do you fight with those close range weapons. I would hate to be so close to those ugly demons. I'm more of popping their heads off from a good hundred feet away and seeing them fall down like dominos one by one." Shaun went to working on her rifle sights and trying to line them yp for them to be as accurate as she can make it.

It was too much. She was losing it again. Just like she lost them. Just like she would lose Eurica.. Alcatraz was probably gone. She had failed. Blundered-

NO! She mentally gave herself a slap.

She stopped midstride for a moment although it took everything she had to prevent herself from just rushing headlong into the fray. She willed herself to calm down, take a deep breath, close her eyes. It felt like an eternity, her limbs screamed to throw caution to the wind. In reality it was but a fleeting moment. Slow down.. consolidate her assets. She owed it to them. She couldn't bear to screw it up again. Not this time!

At that moment, she heard Galin radio in on the comms. There was no time to question him about his lack of awareness. They were soldiers, the best. They had a job to do, lives.. or a life to save. Eyes open once again, she unslung her rifle and started forward, measured steps. Her eyes queried her HUD, initiated the ORACLE system. An inbuilt virtual map, one-of-a-kind, built specially for her. Utilizing beacons laid down across the field by the Avalons, she had access to a much more detailed virtual real-time map than those minimaps of the other cores. The dusty ground swirled up around her booted feet as she strode forward relaying orders to the Crusader teams around her. Her whole being screamed at her, she should be rushing to aid her sister. But she pushed the thought away.

"Vivi, you're the fastest. Time to make that Yggdrasil work some magic. I need you to locate the Avalons, pronto. Galin and Sharp, provide cover fire. Back Vivi up. I and the others will charge the Gate, it should draw most of the demon aggression. I'm uploading Wisp's last known coordinates to your Cores now...-" A small Gwilorog demon , barely the size of a large dog but armed with deadly spines thought it had caught the blond haired Gatekeeper by surprise. With a screech, it leapt from the cover of a small rock, spines extended at her unprotected back only to receive a hail of Felanium bullets to the face.

Sensedelia batted the now dead demon aside with her rifle and paused momentarily, one hand reached up to press her comms to her ear, making sure her men heard her carefully. "Please... I'm counting on you guys.. Wisp needs you, go!"

KACHUMM

Nine..

KACHUMM

Eleven..

A sudden roar broke her concentration. Wisp pivoted around from where she had been kneeling just in time to see a Brute (the most common demon shock troops, nine feet tall, two oversized claws and a jaw full of fangs), leap at her from where it had scaled up the sides of the rock enclosure that was her temporary fort. She had no time to react, it was on top of her.

KACHUMM

A splatter of foul black blood hit her visored face just before 500 pounds of demon fell on top of her. Eurica was momentarily stunned, her breath knocked cleanly out of her lungs and her vision was swimming, the demon's sheer weight pinned her to the ground. There was a stinging pain at her side and she realized that one of the demon's spikes had clawed her ribs during the fall. Her armor had barely held up. It was far from a mortal wound, but already she could feel the poison seeping into her system. A couple of hours without treatment and she would be biting the dust. She squinted her eyes, trying to dry up her tears. Glancing to one side at the prone body however, only brought more shining drops of liquid to her hazel eyes. She had to fight on, give it her all. At the very least, someone should bury him.

Bracing her hands under the load of dead demon weight, she pushed with all her might. The Avalon's hydraulics strained against the weight, it wasn't built for strength. With a scream of frustration that threatened to further damage her throat, Eurica rolled the Brute off her body. There was a burst of sparks and a warning sign on her HUD indicated that her left arm hydraulics and Faith shielding had given way.

WARNING, Faith core at 10 percent power. The expressionless female voice of her Core's AI was far from comforting.

Well aware of the amount of time she had wasted on the ground, Eurica quickly reached for her sidearms and turned to face the opening of the rock enclosure. There were three Brutes eyeing her down. They had slowed down as they stalked towards the girl, taking their time as if well aware that she would be dead no matter what. Eurica's eyes discretely scanned the area, trying to locate where she had dropped her rifle. She spotted it lying in the space between the demons and her battered form. It was closer to her side, but knowing their demonic speed, she would only be able to get off one shot. Just one shot... her side arms were useless against the three of them, not with her being surrounded by rock without space to maneuver. Just one shot...

A chill spread across her back as beads of sweat rolled down her spine. Muscles tense, she did a quick reconfiguration of her Avalon core.

All remaining power directed to reflex attribute. WARNING, Shields at zero percent. Just one shot...

It was now or never, the Brutes weren't going to wait forever. She had to act before they surrounded her. With a sudden burst of speed, Eurica lunged forward and grabbed her rifle. There was a deafening roar as all three demons sprung into action.

Just one shot...

Closing her grip securely on the rifle Eurica redirected her momentum to her side and rolled to her right, the demons roared again and checked their advance. For a splitting moment, they were all lined up.

KACHUMM

The final bullet. A gaping hole was busted cleanly through the chest of the foremost Brute, and the slumping form of the one behind it indicated that she had fatally wounded it. But there was a terrifying roar of sheer rage, and her heart sank. She had missed the third. . . the bullet had ripped off one of its arms but it was still very much alive. The demon charged her, and Eurica knew she was dead.

Galin was moving the second the coordinates were uploaded to his mini map. What kind of shit show was this and why had the boss only uploaded Wisps coordinates. Galin felt his suits hydraulics kick in as he reached 14mph, he’d have to play this one by ear. “Vivi, Sharp, you heard the women our goal is to reach Wisp. Vivi make a beeline for Wisp, repeat do not engage until you’ve reached Wisp’s position. Sharps you hang back and get the dominos falling like you like. Vivi I’ll follow you close as I can and deal with any straggling demons. Marks out” Galin felt his boots crunch against the dead grass as he crossed a fairly flat and open piece of land. To slow he thought to himself grimacing. Vivi would easily overtake him and reach Wisp first. Still Galin couldn’t provide covering fire as requested seeing as his only weapon was a giant ass shield. “Wisp this is Marks, Vivi and I are inbound, we’ll be at your position shortly. Sharps is laying down covering fire so hang tight”. As he ended the transmission a small demon, that looked like a dog turned inside out, lunged at him. Rather than dodge to side or stop Galin merely raised his shield and plowed into the demon at full force. Galin felt his armour absorb the majority of the blow and listened as the demons bones cracked sickenly. Slowing by a fraction Galin raised his shield and brought it down in quick succession ending whatever threat the demon may have possessed. Satisfied, Galin resumed running full tilt and realised he’d reached 16mph. “Vivi you better get your ass moving”.

"I'm going to head out to the cliff over there and get a good look over the entire postion of you guys. I'll be there in one minute." Sharp ran as fast as she could to reach the cliff, it had perfect view of the area and she could see wisp being surrounded by deons and one going staright for her. "I'm all set up and ready for support and to spot unknown targets for you guys." Shauna got her rifle set up on a small rock to provide stability and took her first shot at the demon that was running straight for wisp. BANG! the bullet went flying out of the barrel like a dragon's breathe and zoomed towards the demons head and splattered blood liek a watermelon beoing smashed and slidded across the ground. "YOu are safe for a few extra seconds now WIsp, Galin is coming and he will take care of some of the stragalers and I'll help with the other demons that are coming." Shauna saw some more demons sneaking behind the main group to suprise wisp. She took 3 more shots and took out the demons." Get there fast Galin"

ViVi. The Yggdrasil himself, who had up until the point his name was hailed on the radio. He had assumed a stance of attempting to balance on his halberd. And generally failing.

It's true that it gets boring waiting for the chance to to kill horrendous hellspawn, but this had another purpose. You see, he was attempting to create a new Techniuqe, Of which he would propel himself into the air, and come down crashing Halberd first, in a sort of flip motion.

This technique was somewhat difficult for multiple reasons.

One being physics. Although he could by that with the enhanced abilities of his suit, he was obviously still locked down on his freedom of movement when holding a large metal pole and spike.

That said, when his name was called and instructions were fiven in an almost instantaneous reaction he was on the ground and running.

His orders where rather clear. Get to the way point, Swing his halberd and rescue the avalons.

Well, maybe not that simple, but the directions where clear. And urgent. He spent no time speaking or asking needless questions. Just running.

Running was something he did well, and something that was enhanced by his suit. And currently, he would estimate he was probably running around 50 miles an hour. Perhaps an exaggeration. But despite that, it would still take him about 2-3 minutes to get to the waypoint. And he hoped he was going fast enough.

Everything seemed to flow in slowmotion.

She'd always heard that expression from others but now she was the center of it. The main actress facing down her imminent death, the last line in the final chapter in the story that was her life. She stared wide eyed at the approaching demon. At the back of her mind she thought she heard her comms buzz, but the words or even the voice was indistinguishable over the noise, not that it would've mattered. She felt the prickling at the nap of her neck. A curious sensation, seeing as if she had numbed herself in preparation of the final moment. The prickling grew, traveling of her body. She heard the rush of wind. A sharp zip of air as if something had just sliced through the air, barely over her shoulder. Then the Brute's heard busted open, drenching her in putrid blood. It was as if a time bubble had been burst. There was a mighty roar as her senses returned, and Eurica stumbled backwards. Breathing hard, she fell back against the towering presence of the twenty foot high boulder that guarded the enclosure.

Gathering herself, she looked to her left, from where she thought she heard the sound. There was a minute crack between two large boulders, and through the crack, she could barely make out the crest of a hill. Someone had saved her with that shot, a crusader perhaps. An impossible shot, seeing as there was no way the sniper could've looked over the edge of her enclosure. Their initial survey of the area revealed no hills of that height, else her sister would've set up camp there. But she was safe now, and the enemy was knocking on her door. Hastily she reloaded her rifle when a sudden bleep on her comms alerted her that she had a clear signal to an approaching core.

"This is Wisp, whoever you are, you have my thanks.. I don't know what's wrong with the radio, can't seem to get a clear connection to those farther out except you... H-Have you heard from the others? I can't seem to connect to Alpha or anyone.."

A quick check showed that her core energy levels was running on auxiliary. The Avalon's systems was basically out, no shields, no senses, maps except for her radio and basic life-support. Raising her visor, she glanced around at the bodies around her. Her eyes were swollen, and her tears had begun to dry up. But still her heart was broken. A wound that would take a long time to mend, if ever...

. , ; ' ` ~ * ~ ` ' ; , .

Sensedelia was growing uneasy, their advance was being held down by the sheer numbers of demons blocking their way. A bulk that their careful reconnaissance earlier on had not revealed.

"This is Alpha, what news of Wisp guys? Talk to me. Sharps, what're you doing on that hill? I need you to get down and back up Marks and ViVi, you can't possibly see much of the battleground from there. If it were that easy I would've stationed all our snipers up there. Marks, where's Vivi? He's just gone off radar..."

(OOC: Modelgiro, that gatekeeper eurica is speaking to is ViVi. Just for everyone's info, comms is limited around Eurica. Only those close to her can hear her. Outside can't relay in, and vice versa. Nobody knows the reason yet.)

This is Sharp Wisp, you are welcome. Sorry about getting blood on you, Galin s running towards you now and he will bethere in a few minutes. I'm going to return the rest of the group, the area is clear for now and you might be safe until Galin get there. I'll try to get down there fast and help you. Sharp out." Sharp grabbed her rilfe from the rock and headed away from the view point and ran bak to where the ret of the group was.

“Six hundred meters and closing”. It sounded like Sharp had neutralized the threat but Galin didn’t slow his pace.He had never put much faith in lady luck and with the plan having already gone sideways he wasn’t taking chances. Galin felt his lungs expand and contract, his body feverishly trying to compensate for his relentless pace. Not for the first time he wondered why Vivi hadn’t overtaken him. Galin shook his head and dug his armour plated boots deeper into the dusty ground. Vivi’s absence was disturbing but the likelihood that the man had simply taken an alternate route was good.

Galin reached a ring of rocks a minute later, his lungs burning. Shield held at the ready Galin started into the easily defendable position.
“ Calvaries arri....”. The words died in Galin’s throat as his eyes fell on Alcatraz. The man's body lay limp in the center of the rock outcropping, his extremities at unnatural angles. Galin ripped his gaze from the form of the broken man and to Wisp who stood several meters away clutching her sniper rifle in a death grip. Her overly rigid posture and eyes rimmed with red told him all he needed to know. All soldiers had, at some point, worn that same confused, broken, and enraged look. Galin didn’t offer sympathy, that wouldn’t resurrect Al or comfort Wisp. He walked a few steps forward and did a scan of the cooling bodys vitals. When that revealed nothing he hadn’t already known he removed his gauntlet and did the same for Al’s. Galin held the man’s wrist with his bare hand and counted off two minutes before slipping his hand back inside his own gauntlet. Galin exhaled in time with the pressurized locks of the gauntlet as the resealed themselves. “Alcatraz, K.I.A.”. Galins voice was monotone and emotionless. How many times had he said that sentence he wondered. Different names, different missions, different teams, it never got any easier. The words still carried unbelievable weight for those who spoke them as well as those who heard them. “Alpha, Wisps position reached. Vivi’s position is unknown. Standing by please advise”. With that Galin flicked off the radio. “I can carry him”.It wasn’t a question, it wasn’t an offer, it was a simple statement for Wisp to do with as she pleased. Not wasting a second Galin turned his comm back on and awaited orders.

ViVi. Had in fact, at no fault of his own, had to take a bit of a detour. You see, about 3 minutes from reaching his destination. He seemed to stumble upon a rather...Large. Group of demons, of which he was severely outnumbered in comparasin too.

Now, he could have attempted to go right through them. But then they would have followed him. And caution was something to be taken in this situation.

And he had, finally arrived. to see Galin crouched over a seemingly entirely dead body. Of which Vian had to take multiple seconds to recognize as Alcatraz. And then he drifted over to Wisp, who seemed quite emotional over the recently deceased body.

"At the Position. Galin...Is he dead?"

Despite the fact that he could already see that, and that he had heard it on the comm a moment ago, he felt as if he should ask out of politeness.

Now, he also knew they needed to get out of there extremely soon, as he had already passed a large group of unsavory creatures, and even more would be on them if they loitered around.

Vivi’s question didn’t warrant and answer and Galin didn’t feel inclined to give him one. Alcatraz was clearly dead and asking about it would only upset Wisp further. “You and I are going to set up a perimeter and await orders.”Galin let his eyes drift to the bodies of three brutes. Two of which looked like they had been killed with a single shot and thus had Wisp’s handwriting all over them. Racked by grief she had still managed to pull a rabbit like that out of the hat, he thought shaking his head. The final brute looked like he had gotten to close for comfort and Galin assumed it’s death was Sharps handy work. Galin turned his eyes to the spot the shot must have come from and shook his head. The wind was all wrong and the rock outcropping should have shielded the brute from sight. Still Sharp had his name for a reason. “ Repeat position reached, Wisp secured.” Though the poor girl looked like hell. “Awaiting orders.”

"I'm sendi-..*static* Avarin to your positi-.. *static*... heard enough, how is Wis-?" Alpha's voice suddenly broke through the radio silence. Her voice seemed cool, though a little breathless, as though she was moving quickly.

"Sis..
Alcatraz-" Eurica's hoarse voice came out barely a whisper. She sat with her back against the rock wall, knees raised and with her hands limply by her sides. Her helmet was cast to one side and her head was bowed, hazel coloured hair half obscuring her tear and dirt stained face. Except for the laceration on her side and a few bruises, she was otherwise unharmed, but at that moment, Eurica felt as if the brute had clawed her whole heart out and torn it into pieces. She didn't know how she managed to keep going for that last bit. Perhaps it was her pure survival instinct, fueled by the adrenaline coursing through her veins. But now that the momentary battle was over for her, she just... couldn't.. she felt pitiful and small.. insignificant.. powerless.. in her mind, she kept hearing his screams over and over again.. his last gasp of breath.. She wished the last brute had ended her life.. it was over anyway..

"I know.." It was all Delia could say at that moment, she kept her voice even and steady. It took effort. Would that they could see the shimmering wet trails that flowed freely from her own eyes. But she could not afford to slow down. She took a deep breath.

"Galin need you *static* check Wisps' condition..- *static* fine? We-..*static* ..held down *static* demonic positioning..- *static* Need-.. help to flank- *static* attack..- *static* gate from the west. Don't worry- *static* Alcatraz. Sending an Avarin- *static* retrieve... the body. Do you copy?"

Dimly, Eurica could hear her sister speaking over the comms. But she could not bring herself to get up let alone pay attention.

Galin glanced at Wisp and winced. Besides a few scrapes and bruises Wisp was physically unscathed. Though one look at the girls face revealed how completely and utterly devastated she was. Galin sighed and looked at Vivi then back to Wisp. They didn’t have time for this, Alpha needed them to flank from the west and their window of opportunity was closing. “Alright, time for a judgment call. Alpha’s sending an Avrain to extract Al’s body but we’ve been ordered to flank the demons position. Wisp its your call, if you feel you're unable to fight stay with Al until the Avrain arrives. Likewise if you feel emotionally compromised ,but if you can fire a gun and manage not to die we could use you.”Galin frowned, was he getting soft. The simple fact was that they needed everybody they could get. Even if that somebody was a girl who had just watched her friend die.Galin turned on his heel orienting himself using his minimap. It’d take a few minutes to reach the fight and then another couple to position themselves so their attack would cause maximum enemy casualties. In short they didn’t have any time to waste. Wisp its your call......Vivi, Sharp, unfortunately you two and myself don’t have a choice”. Not wasting another second Galin readied his shield and started running along a straight diagonal route that would allow them to flank the enemy in the smallest amount of time possible. “Vivi, stay near me until we reach the enemy line, this attack is meant to shock and two soldiers will accomplish more than just one charging ahead. Sharp, catch the hell up and get ready to get up close and personal with some demons. None of this sniping bull from you. Wisp, if you get your head in the game, set up somewhere and provide overwatch. One of those ugly bastards gets too close to us or the others you end him .” Rescuing Wisp had been the easy part Galin thought to himself as he began to push 14mph. The more he thought about the poor girl the more Galin willed her to stay behind and be extracted with Al’s body. Her injuries may be primarily mental but what worried Galin was the scratches and bruises he’d noticed earlier. While in and of themselves they were nothing to worry about the injuries indicated that Wisp’s shield was spent. Despite Wisp being incredibly vulnerable Galin doubted the girl would just sit by and grieve. After all her cousin was still down there, also Galin couldn’t think of a single instance that a soldier didn’t avenge their fallen comrades given the chance. Galin gave a mental shrug, it was all he could do to try and assign Wisp overwatch. “Marks copies, in route to flank. Wisp is a little battered but otherwise fine. ETA, five minutes.”

Conner was running as fast as he could, or what the caliburn core allowed. He heard everything on the comms, and hated how he couldn't have done a thing. Apparently the M280 rhino was better used as a rear guard. As he ran, he said into the comms, "What can I do?" He hated how he had to add Alcatraz onto the list, but he'd be damnd if he would let any other of his squad mates on that list. So, as he ran to the front, he made sure the rhino was ready to fire, nothing was jammed, and he had enough ammo to kill whatever decided to get in front of him that wasn't human.

"Alright."

ViVi himself was one for swift action, and keeping everyone alive. And so he nodded and took off in way of the flank. The yggdrasil core could quite easily make it there in a quarter of the time it would take the other cores, but he would still have to await the other cores at the waypoint.

As he Made his way there, He wondered back, he hadn't got a good look at the dead body strewn on the ground, or any of the situation. He had arrived at the way point, and zipped away almost as soon as he got there.

But one of their ranks was dead, and that made this a mournful day, although no time could be spent mourning now, or their would be no one left to mourn.

Hey guys! I just put in the application to have all our tabs remerged back into one RP! Will be posting the next reply as soon as that's done!

"Over there!" The relieved cry of a girl sounded across the desolate landscape dotted with misshapen boulders. The dawning sun cast a bloody glow as its rays filtered through the polluted air, casting the lands in its orangish-reddish hue. Two figures stood amongst the crests of the house-sized boulders. The shorter of the two was female, on the tips of her toes and pointing to the near distance at a enclosure of rocks, her long silver-gold braids catching the light. The rugged breeze billowed the hems of her ivory coloured rune-etched battlerobes about her feet. "Mesanah! I see them!" She called again.

Clad in similar coloured robes the other figure, a male, turned at the cry of his partner and leap-hopped the gap between their two rocks to stand by her side. A gap easily ten meters wide. "I see them, sister." Mesanah adjusted the strap which held the scabbard of a large sword across his back and the two Avarin took off in the direction of the Gatekeepers. Finally reaching the outcropping, Seranas peered over the edge and let out a long sigh.. She already knew what to expect of course, but the sight of Alcatraz' cooling body still brought a twinge of loss to her heart. She looked up to see Marks taking off in the direction of the orders, followed closely by Colossus and Vivi. Wisp was kneeling by the side of her lover's now dead body. Her head was bowed and from her vantage point Seranas couldn't make out her expression. Turning to the other Avarin, she quickly ordered.

"Brother, take.. him back. I will check on Wisp and see if I can aid the others." Even as she said it, Seranas felt a twinge of fear. She would be going right into the eye of the fight. Something she rarely did, if she could help it. But their situation was dire, and she had to push her selfishness out of the way.

"Are you sure you don't want me to go?"
Mesanah turned to look at his fellow Avarin full in the face, concern evident on his brow.

"I... am
sure. Come on, we must make haste, they're counting on us"

"Very well... Valaru`tishar sister. Go with the light!" Mesanah reached for Seranas and together they touched their foreheads to each other in farewell. Seranas sprang from the boulder and landed lightly, a respectable distance from Wisp. She approached the girl slowly, unsure of her emotional condition.

"Eurica..."
Seranas placed a hand on the girl's shoulder even as Mesanah reached for Alcatraz' body.

"Eurica." The Avarin gently held the girl's chin and turned her gaze upon hers.

Liralis.jpg
"They will pay..." Eurica's steely gaze fixed upon the Avarin's gold-flecked silver orbs and the angel let out a sigh of relief, she was afraid the girl would be a wreck. But she had clearly pulled herself out of it on her own. Seranas wanted to hug her, but knew it wasn't the time. Catching her gaze with her own, she answered, her voice equally determined. They would avenge Alcatraz, they would avenge all those who fell, as they always have.

"Come, we need to catch up with the others."

, . ; ' ` ~ * ~ ` ' ; . ,

The two women finally caught up with where the others would be waiting, no doubt to access the situation before rushing headlong. They were hiding amongst a copse of twisted trees, the shadows they cast and the huge bulk of a fallen ancient tree providing just enough cover for their small group. Two the north-west, in the shadow of a rocky mountain was the hellgate. The dark obsidian stone formed an arch, loomingd over them, casting the area in a foreboding dread that felt more like a pressure on the back of your head and a sense of hopelessness in the heart. Twisted runes, gleaming blood-red scattered across the surface of the stone, changing in shape right before their eyes as if they crawled along its unholy surface. Below the arch, was the gate itself. A chaos of purple, red, orange and blacks. A shimmering dimensional gate to the abyss, and out from it, the wailing cries of thousands and thousands of lost souls. The cries, it came from within one's head as much as it came from the gate itself. There was no way to shut it out. Even as they watched, the wailing grew louder until there was a deafening screech as a brute struggled its way out from within the void. Passing through the hellgate onto earth. Already there were a dozen of them and more were coming. Their comrades were probably fighting from the east, trying to breach the perimeter. They had to move now.

Taking a long breath, Seranas turned to the others, across the front of her robes, her Oathkeeper gleamed softly in the darkness. The oval jewel milky-white as it sat in the middle of the gold chain that held her powers in check. Taking the lead, she laid out her plans.

"Wisp, I need you to pass the detonation charges to Vivi. This is no longer a game of stealth but of speed and surprise,Vivi... its on you.. you need to plant the charges at both ends of the arch, at the base. I know you haven't done this before, but you need to place them on a particular rune.. here.. Wisp, can you show it to him?"

Taking her dagger out from her belt, Eurica wordlessly etched out the rune on the fallen tree beside them. It looked like a three-pronged pitchfork angled downwards to the right.

"That's the one.. But you need to be careful. The runes change every three seconds or so. Plant them only as soon as they're the right ones. Marks and Colossus, you guys are the distraction. Get in there first and do enough damage to get their attention, the moment they're upon you, Vivi you flank them. Wisp, cover fire, target the Thornspitters on the mountainside. Don't want them to get those nasty spikes raining on us... As for me... I'll provide support. I can shield you guys for the first ten seconds, after that I can only reduce your faith core power consumption. Once Vivi is done, we need to get out of here, don't want to be within a quarter mile radius when that thing blows." Seranas hated to say it, but she couldn't bring herself to do much more than that. She hated sending her friends to the front while she stood at the back, but she knew it was probably for the best. If she went to the front, she'd probably freeze up and put them all into danger. The Avarin closed her eyes for a moment, and let out a pent up breath. When her silver eyes opened again, she fixed all of them in her gaze.

"I am sorry.. I cannot do more to help. Y-You know I cannot.." Seranas sighed.

"If we have no other plans... ready when you guys are Marks.. Colossus. I will cast my spell when you engage. You will know when the
light covers you. But once I do that, all the demons for miles around will know we're here..."

Galin listened to Seranas’s plan intently, though there wasn’t much to it. Vivi would set the charges, himself and Colossus would bash in some demon heads, Wisp would cover them, and then they’d all get the hell out of Dodge. Cracking his neck Galin glanced at Colossus smiling ruefully. In all honesty he’d forgotten about the big guy until a few minutes ago when he had shown up toting that giant gun of his. Still no use in letting the goliath know that, he thought to himself. “Seems straight forward enough.” He directed the comment at the seemingly nervous Avrain and tried to force a smile. After about a half second he realised the uselessness of his gesture as his helmet was still in place and silently cursed his own stupidity. Taking a second he forced himself to focus on the problem at hand. He and Colossus would be engaging a force far superior to their own two man squad. That left one of two options. One attack the column at its weakest point and push to the middle inflicting major casualties. Or two, attack the column all over its western flank keeping the damage superficial but spreading it over a large area. The first option promised to kill many more demons than the second but it also would require them to fight their way back out. It’d also prove impossible to get out at a moments notice and they likely wouldn’t survive the attack. Also since the legions of hell were seemingly infinite killing more demons, while satisfying, may not prove effective. The second option seemed the more sensible but there was always the chance that while fighting the enemies would collapse inwards allowing troops on the side to flank and ultimately surround the two of them. Still even if they were surrounded the enemies at their backs would be much fewer than if they tried a direct assault into the column. In addition there would also be time to recognize such a maneuver and avoid it. Galin mulled the ideas over in the space of seconds easily coming to the conclusion the second was by far the best. Nodding to himself he turned away from the group and quickly picked out his point of assault. “Colossus, see that large cluster of brutes? Thats where we focus the majority of our attack. We’ll keep the wounds superficial, if you don’t kill one incapacitation is fine. Try not to engage one enemy for too long, that gun of yours has a high rate of fire so lets use it. At any given time we won’t push past their second line, If we start to get surrounded we’ll pull out. Even if we aren’t engaging directly they’ll probably pursue us and that’ll serve our purposes just fine.” Galin let out a huff of air, good lord that had been a mouthful. Not giving the other man a chance to respond Galin unslung his shield and started moving off at a full sprint to meet the enemy line.

"Do what you can. If you can keep those brutes from getting to close then that is great." Conner said to Serana. And a few seconds of relative peace is a lot better then none. He had no clue how they were going to serve as the distraction, other then shoot in the demon's general direction. But he wasn't a big brain, good thing Marks was. Listening to his plan intently, and wishing for a grenade, he saw nothing wrong with it and wordlessly followed Marks. "Slow down a bit, I can only run so fast in this." Conner muttered into the coms. The rhino, bouncing at his side, was certainly ready to cut down the Brutes that Marks pointed out, and he would gladly pull the trigger.

For the first time in quite awhile Galin was regretting taking point and charging ahead. The first part had been easy, he’d slammed into the line of brutes sending the giant demons scattering. He had managed to capitalize on the shock his charge had caused, killing three brutes and incapacitating two. Unfortunately after about ten seconds of blissful confusion the creatures rallied realising there was only one of him. Now Galin was reduced to the lowly job of harassment , he’d attack inflicting a small amount of damage and retreat a few passes before to many brutes closed in. Gritting his teeth Galin blocked a clumsy thrown blow wincing as the impact jarred his entire body. “Colossus when you decide to grace me with your presence lay down a concentrated funnel of fire around my position. If you do that it’ll free me up to move easily among the demons.....” Galin side stepped allowing a brute who had attempted to tackle him to crash face first into the dirt. “....Oh and Colossus, if you shoot me in the back I’ll kill you.” Shield held at the ready Galin retreated another half pace and cursed silently, he needed Colossus yesterday. The second phase of the plan, to shock a confident enemy and maintain that shock, depended entirely on the big man and his rhino. Without that firepower the two of them would be unable to make another attack of any significance. If the man failed to show up soon the brutes would simply devote a small force to keep Galin in check while the main force turned their attention to the others. The small group of brutes would then in turn act as an early warning system greatly reducing the effectiveness of Colossus's initial attack. In short the effectiveness of their diversion would be greatly compromised if the big man didn’t appear in the next ten seconds. Still it could always be worse, he told himself knowing full well that it really couldn’t.

P.C.L: 92%

"Duck!" Conner shouted before opening fire. The bullets flew out of the rhino, riddling three of the brutes before they finally fell. If Marks didn't duck, his shield would take a bit of a beating, but probably survive. "Is this the plan!?" he continued to shout at Marks. He was always a fan of the "shoot the demon" plan, but they would be over whelmed if they didn't start moving, at the very least get some support.
