"The hours turning to years we've spent"

They grew up together on the same street, but unlike the other kids in the neighborhood

they utterly despised each other. Between the two of them there was never a dull moment.

When one wasn't pulling a prank, the other was conjuring up one. This went on for 18

years, until they both moved away to college.

"I remember the faces and familiar places"

Center Street has always been known for their block parties, but the one in particular has

always drawn the masses; their 4th of July celebration. Each year everyone on the street

comes together and puts their differences aside for at least one night.

"Now we've all moved away and Somehow became men"

One went away to college on the east coast while the other stayed on the west coast,

going to the local state school. But now they are back for the summer and things have

really changed. They grew up.

Their once petty pranks are turning into something more.

Traits:

"Just about sums it up."

+Charming, Witty, Bubbly

-Sarcastic, Flighty, Fiery

Personality:

"Oh you want more?"

Anna has a very bubbly and outwards personality. She could blab for hours if no one would stop her. Despite her short

stature this girl can pack a punch with her words. She is quick on her feet when it comes to handing back an insult.

Unfortunately she is unreliable at times. She becomes lazy and sluggish when things need to get done if they don't

benefit her.

Background:

"You should already know."

Growing up on a tight knit street Anna had more then just her parents to rely on when she needed help. Her aunt and

uncle lived one house down with their kids, and her grandparents lived one street over. At times having family so close

by way a living hell, but at others, it was the greatest thing ever. She is the youngest of three children and the only girl,

but she is the farthest from the baby of the family. Her parents never spoiled her, if anything they were the hardest on

her.

From a young age she had show promise in art, and as she got older her parents always pushed her to do more with

it. For any other kid that would have been fantastic, but for her it was just a burden. In the back of her mind she always

felt like she had to go off and become famous to appease her parents. All of this built up stress and need for approval

caused a lot of fights between her parents and her. Many a nights she would spend at her aunt's house or at her eldest

brothers apartment.

When she graduated from high school she knew she needed to get away and went off to the Art Institute of New York. It

was there that she tapped into her potential in sculpture. For once she felt free and like her life was actually going

somewhere.

Traits:

+ Content

+ Friendly

+ Spontaneous

- Self – Obsessed

- Player

- Unambitious

Personality:

"I'm crap in school, but I'm great at beer pong."

Alec is the best damn thing since sliced bread, in his opinion.

He’s always been the life of everything, every party he attended he instantly brightened. As you can imagine, joining a fraternity in college - 'state school' -only made this happen more often. He lives in the moment, does everything in the now, because he acknowledges that he mightn’t have tomorrow. If he wants something, he goes for it. If he likes a girl, he tells her. He’s not scared of rejection, thus it’s rare for it to occur, and when it does, he gets over it with vodka, beer and a really, really live party, probably including him ending up in bed with a different girl.

Alec is drunk a lot, but he strongly believes it is not a problem, but a way of life. He’s not an alcoholic, per se, but he drinks most nights, enough to upset some of his girlfriends of the time. He’s not into sitting around doing nothing, and if he’s not partying, he’s probably burning energy at the gym. He has to stay active at all times – sitting down with a book really isn’t his cup of tea.

When it comes to girls, he doesn’t fall in love too often, but he always finds a girl he likes. He chases after them and has them soon enough, because he doesn’t give up. He firmly believes he can wrap any girl around his finger, and whether he’s intrigued by the way she looks or acts, she will quickly become his muse. However, such relationships never last more than a few weeks, and he moves on quickly, which annoys a lot of people, but as he says “There are many fish in the sea, and I should at least have a bite of them all.”

Alec, generally, is happy, and people love that. He’s a very friendly, chatty guy and he makes more friends by the day. He’s nice to everyone, but he’s quick to get defensive and it’s not unusual for him to get into a fist fight because he’s very competitive (physically, anyways). He isn’t the definition of intelligent, and is a lot more focused on being fit, but manages to pass his classes by the skin of his teeth. Though he tends to chase after almost anything in a skirt, he has a certain level of respect for women, and doesn’t constantly harass them if they find him a bother or invasive.

Alec would call himself confident, but some would refer to him as arrogant and self-obsessed. He knows he looks good, and likes to make sure he looks even better. He doesn’t pamper himself as much as a girl would, but he does spend a considerable amount of time making sure his hair looks alright and his clothes flaunt his biceps.

He’s also very relaxed about the future, perhaps a little too relaxed. He isn’t worried about getting a job, getting good grades or finding a nice career. Living in the now means he doesn’t stress over his future, but many would call him unambitious and unmotivated. The truth is, he’s not even twenty yet and he hasn’t gotten his life planned out. He doesn’t know what he wants to do, and just wants to enjoy college while he can. However, his relaxed attitude may bring harm to his future if he doesn’t put in the effort soon.

Background:

I think I may leave this empty, if it's okay.

Details:

- Alec has a few tattoos. One is a girl’s name (Emma) – on his back, which he regrets, but he was drunk, and she was drunk. They haven’t seen each other in three months, and Alec barely remembers her face, but they will both permanently have a reminder of the other. He has a tattoo of the fraternity name on his arm, an anchor on his chest and the Chinese symbol for ‘beer’ on his shoulder.

- He doesn’t have any piercings. He had a nipple piercing (it was a dare), but it got infected.

- He hates being called Alexander. It reminds him of his super strict and rather scary babysitter who minded him up to when he was twelve.

- He’s fit and he knows it. Alec goes around shirtless whenever possible, just to show off.

- He has a birthmark which, according to his friends, looks like a dick. It’s on the top of his left leg. If he gets really drunk, he shows it off.

Anna stood in front of her closet, examining her clothing. Even though she had been home for a month, most of her clothing was still packed away in her suitcases. She settled on a simple outfit that seemed patriotic enough. Unlike her mother, Anna was never into getting all decked out for holidays. If her mother had it her way she would walk around wearing an American flag. But that was her mother, she liked to get all flashy and tacky for any holiday. One year for Valentines day her mother wore a flashing heart sweater just for the hell of it. It was the ugliest thing ever, but it created a great memory.

Quickly slipping into her outfit, she ran down the stairs and went sliding across the hardwood floor. She could hear her father in the kitchen making his famous coleslaw and she could smell her mother's apple pie wafting through the air. Sauntering into the kitchen she passed her brother, Kyle, and gave him a quick flick on the ear as he tried to sneak a bite of the slaw. Retaliating, he gave her a light punch on the arm, almost missing. She was the baby of the family, but that didn't stop her brothers from beating up on her. Even though she was vertically challenged, she was always able to hand it back to them. They called her their little spider monkey.

It's was 5 o'clock and people were already starting to congregate outside their house. Anna couldn't help but smile as she looked out the window. Block parties were her favorite. So many of her best memories were tacked on to a block party. Not to mention it was the one time she could drink and her parents didn't care. Slipping on her shoes, she turned on her heels and grabbed the bowl of coleslaw before heading out the front door. Despite it being July the weather was a bit cool, then again 70 degrees was cold in California. When the dry air hit her tanned legs a slight chill went up her spine, but the smile on her face remained intact.

"Alexander!"

Alec rolled over. He couldn't pretend he hadn't heard her shouting. She'd used his full name, and that meant he was in deep trouble. There was no one quite as scary as Beverly Fletcher, her pedicured toenails and numerous rings. Ever since his father had walked out, she'd become some kind of tank, gaining sass as the years went by, and losing tolerance for her teenage son. Despite that, she'd cried like a baby when he went off for his first day to college.

Apparently, his grunt of reply was not enough for his mother, who stormed into his room. "Alec, would you get up! It's Independence Day! You've actually missed half of it, but no way are you missing this party."

"The block party?" Alec muttered sleepily.

She threw Mr. Cuddles at him. "The block party."

He caught Mr. Cuddles. He'd always been good at reacting quickly, even if he was half-asleep when the teddy bear he'd got from Santa (aged five, he would add) was hurled towards him. His mother, in her prime, had played on a ladies' baseball team. He smirked at the thought.

"Do I have to get changed, mom? I don't want to get changed."

She paused. "Well, what are you wearing?"

He blinked and looked under the covers. "I better change. I'll be there in ten, alright?"

"You better be, Alec." His mother then left the room, allowing him to jump out of bed and throw on whatever he could find. His outfit ended up being nothing special - a sleeveless top that showed off his arms well (he was proud of his arms, and every other feature of his body, for that matter), and a pair of coloured shorts. They were beach shorts really, but it was California. It was always beach time, even if you didn't live near a beach.

When he got downstairs, it was ten past five, and Beverly was sitting in a flowy, colourful dress, her make-up strange but well done for a woman her age. She was out to do what he did every night - party. It was kind of weird to think about.

"You ready, Alec?" She smiled, a little too excited for a fifty-two year old. He nodded, and followed her out the door, onto the crowded streets. Immediately, they were both swarmed by people, nearly all of their faces familiar. A grin began to light up Alec's face, and excitement bubbled inside him, even if he had been asleep just minutes ago.

Tromping down the stair, Anna headed directly for the coolers. In a swift manner she strolled passed the food table and set the coleslaw down. Without missing a step, she kept moving towards the coolers. She knew exactly what treasure was inside the plastic shell; beer. She couldn't wait to get hands on it. It was just what she needed to get through a long night of nosy neighbors poking her with questions of how school and her love life were going. That was the problem with living in such a tight knit neighborhood; everyone knows everything.

Anna weaved in and out of the crowd, occasionally bumping into someone, but she made her way to the cooler. Just as she was about to reach in, Ms. Finkle's straggly old voice drew her away. The old lady stood there, cane in hand, and gripped about kids Anna's age. How they gallivanted through the streets half clothed and drinking alcohol. Anna was convinced that Ms. Finkle was crazy, she didn't have a filter at all, and she made her feeling about you known. There was no sugar coating. Anna stood there with her arm's crossed until the old lady shuffled off mumbling some obscene words. Letting out a long sigh of relief she turned on her heels and snagged an ice cold beer.

(( Sorry it's short & poopy, I felt bad making you wait so long for a response >.< ))

"Alec, look, it's Chris!"

"Mom, who the f-f-fudge is Chris?" After spending his days with a bunch of dudes in their late teens for most the year, he'd forgotten that his mother had no tolerance for swear words. He was reminded by a cutting glare, and he swallowed as some guy pulled him into a hug. He wasn't sure what else to do but wrap his arms around the dude and pat his back. He noticed that the complete stranger was broad, and even taller than him. As they drew apart, his eyes widened in recognition.

"Ohhh! Chris!"

Christopher McDonald was grinning widely at him, his 6'4 frame made slightly less threatening by his crooked teeth and childish dimples. Back in the day (whenever he said this on front of his mother, she smacked him and told him he sounded ninety), himself and Chris had been best friends. They had a brotherly bond. Alec had looked up to him like he was God, but at eighteen, he'd left for college. Now twenty-one, he'd changed a fair bit, but still had his familiar blue eyes.

"C'mon, kiddo, let's get a beer, cos it's legal now," Chris said, pulling him away from his mom. "See you around, Ms. Fletcher."

"Be responsible!" Beverly hissed, as Alec muttered "Like the law has ever stopped us before."

He guided him over to beer cooler, grabbing them both one. Alec sighed, recognizing even more faces at the beer cooler than before (as expected). Chris opened his mouth to question him about college, or his grades, or maybe something cooler, but he was distracted. He cocked his head, feeling a surge of familiarity at the sight of some girl taking out one of the bottles. Chris followed his gaze, realizing he wasn't listening. She was short, and blonde, and he stared in confusion for a couple of seconds before half-shouting.

"Holy crap! Shrimp?"

{ It's fine! Don't worry c: }

Anna's head snapped around when she heard the word "shrimp." No one had called her that since she left for college. Then again, she never brought it up when she was at college. If she had that would be no doubt that her friends would have latched onto it, much like the neighborhood kids. When her eye's met the face of the person who had shouted out that obscene nick name, a look of disgust came over her face. "Well, well, if it isn't my favorite person." A half assed smile snuck in as her sentence ended.

Alec and her went back a long time. They had a 10 year prank war that came to stop when they both left. She still remember the time that she saran wrapped his car shut, the memory was still clear as day. She had been planning out for awhile, sneaking rolls of saran wrap out of work every month or so. When she finally had enough, she snuck out at one o'clock in the morning with a couple friends and they went wild giving his car "the condom" look, as they called it. The look on his face in the morning was priceless.

She hadn't changed too much.

It had only been a year, Alec supposed, but it felt like longer. He remembered being slightly disappointed when she'd left for college, as if his entertainment source had just packed her bags and gone. He'd been offended, really. They had to call off the pranking. God knew he loved pranks, especially ones involving her face turning the colour of beetroot in anger, while he and various friends would spend the day grinning with victory. It wasn't a patch on college and frat parties, but there was something very familiar and homely about it all the same.

"You're still small," He replied with a smirk. "I don't doubt you've missed me and my wonderful face." She'd been taller than him for maybe a month of her life. Alec had then grown, sprouted like a tree, an inch taller every time he looked in the mirror. He'd stopped growing by sixteen, but over six foot was a satisfying height. Way taller than she'd ever be.

Chris popped his head into the meeting of nemesis', with a "Oh, hey, Anna! Long time no see!" before shrinking back behind Alec and downing his beer.

Anna looked Alec up and down. He looked the same as her did the day that he left, and he still had the same stupid smirk on his face. He didn't seem to have fallen to the freshman 15, like most of the kids in her class had. Taking a quick sip of her beer she scoffed at him, "I almost missed you so much that I started crying, then I remembered how much of ass you were." Giving him a quick sarcastic smile she turned her attention to Chris and shot a huge, genuine smile in his direction, "It's good to see you!" She made it a point to seem more interested in Chris because she knew it would drive Alec up all wall. It always did. He loved being the center of attention, and she wasn't about to let him be it.

Glancing from Chris' face to Alec's face she smiled lightly,
"Now if you will excuse me I have anywhere but here to be." She flicked her tongue out at Alec before she marched off. She wasn't quite so sure why she left, it wasn't like she couldn't stand him, but every time she was around him little butterflies would pop into her stomach and that was the last thing she wanted. They were basically arch nemesis', and there was no room for anything else. A flat, spiteful relationship between the two of them was just fine with her.
