We're All Mad Here!
There were constant black clouds swirling around hogwarts, it was as though the sky was upset. For those inside, it was a gloomy place, the teachers that they loved had been forced to flee because of a New Dark Power that had risen over the past summer. What replaced their cheerful teachers was a line of men and women dressed in varying shades of grey and a woman stood in the middle, her bright blue robes making her stand out as she spoke to the student body.

"This year you will be taught dark magic, those of you who resist will be punished and those of you that excel may join my ranks." She said, her voice higher pitched and almost squeaky, "For Now though enjoy the feast."

Eddie sat in his seat. His books at his side. He had been transferred from his school in America as per his mother’s request and the dark stuff didn’t sit well with him.

~Procyon Sheerfor...~

The school year was starting up again. It was going to be a long year. Procyon's parents had wondered whether or not Hogwarts was still the right school for Procyon. His younger sister would b a third year. Procyon managed to persuade his parents to let him continue his studies at Hogwarts. He still cared about his friends and knew he'd still see them there that year, just like the years before. No matter what happened, there were always going to be some students that stuck with the school.

From the trip to diagon alley, he would need plenty supplies for the new year. Books for classes. Food for his pet. Broom maintenance tools for quidditch and a new set of keeper gear. His old gear was getting worn out, and a new one would help a lot for the upcoming year. Luckily his parents were well off, so they could afford to get him the best. Sturdy enough to take hits from a bludger, yet light and didn't hinder the wearer's movement any as well as breathable. He had also gotten himself a new journal to write his thoughts and ideas throughout the school year.

The train ride was mildly unnerving. he hadn't talked to any of his friends the whole train ride. They hadn't transfered schools to Beauxbaton or Durmstrang, had they? There was also the school in South America. Castelobruxo. Procyon had a pen pal from there, her name was Alanza. He hadn't written to her in two months and had wondered how she was doing. Eventually boarding the thestral pulled carriage to reach the school grounds. To those that haven't witnessed death, would see carts pulled by an invisible force, but to those who've witnessed death, would see black winged horses. strange and nearly skeletal beasts. The air that loomed over the school didn't help the carriage ride over. It felt wrong and dark, but it was also Procyon's last year at Hogwarts, and he was going to make the best of it one way or another.

Peeves was one o the first things Procyon seen going through the hall. He didn't stop to torment any of the students. What could he have been up to...? Procyon could only wonder, but they made their way to the great hall. It was always delightful to see would be first-years get sorted into houses and applauding for any Ravenclaw first years. The Headmaster gave a very brief message, short and sweet. Or rather grim and cruel, as this seemed harsh to students easily frightened or feint of heart. Procyon didn't relish the thought of practicing the dark arts, but it certainly beat receiving punishment of some sort. Perhaps he'd learn something interesting in the dark arts. If not by choice, then by necessity. Procyon was going to make the best of this year, and that meant following school rules.

So many faces. Procyon didn't quite know what to do. He smiled at the students sitting near him. "Eh heh heh! Uuuughhh... This school year is quite something... I'm sure if we help each other out with our studies, I'm sure we'll all be just fine" Procyon said before taking a bite out of one of the chicken legs. He looked around before biting one of the dinner rolls, then drinking from his cup and wiping his mouth.

"I don't know about you guys, but I plan to make the best of this year" Procyon added.

Eddie fiddled with a contraption his uncle had given him shortly before the school year. It was palm sized bronze and would spin around in odd variations. Puzzles where one of the few things that kept his mind calm. He fiddled with it for a moment and went to the books he had been studying: The Modification of Muggle Artifacts and Wand concealment and modification.

Elane sat down at her side of the Slytherin table. The other ‘dirty bloods’ sat with her and the purebloods sat away from them. She gave a few nods to people and started to eat her food. The pureblood side seemed to be excited about the thought of learning the dark arts, while the dirty bloods were on edge knowing it meant the purebloods would practice it on them for ‘learning purposes’. Elane ignored her friends which were trying to start up a conversation that ended with a half blood telling them to shut up. Nobody was quite ready to talk like everyone else in the Great Hall.

Once Elane finished her food she took out her summer homework. She was almost done with it Elane just needed to answer a few more questions. A ball of mash potatoes came flying at her but luckily her friend, Sasha, was in the way and it didn’t hit her homework. Elane quickly finished it and put it away before helping Sasha get mash potatoes out of her hair.

~Procyon...~

After finishing his meal, he sat there with his quidditch book out. Quidditch plays, maneuvers and more. Procyon had memorized its contents enough to read them off memory verbatim. He even added his own take on the maneuvers with tips and tricks.

No dark arts was gonna stop quidditch practice nor matches and Procyon was gonna be ready. Though he also wanted to keep up with charms class and be most prepared for his Newts. If Procyon was going to get ahead in life, he needed to have the best possible to do well in his classes.

While looking over his incarnations notes, he looked over at the house tables. From the far side of the room; gryffindor students then hufflepuff and on the other side of the ravenclaw table sat the slytherin students. Procyon couldn't help but wonder how many witches and wizards were looking forward to learning dark arts spells vs the reluctant ones. Procyon didn't have any problems with it, but he wondered more about the wands performing the spells. Depending on the wand core, performing dark arts spells may require a new wand. Which would be a real shame, but other matters filled his mind. He enjoyed tutoring the younger students in free time as well. He was also glancing around the table looking for his quidditch teammates from the previous year.

Phoebe Barnes

Phoebe was not necessarily excited but interested in learning dark magic. She was pretty good at defense against the dark arts, but learning more about it would help her better. She planned on making another notebook to write down notes and things she noticed. After the new headmaster spoke, she started eating and thinking about the certain thing they might be taught. She got some pork chops and mashed potatoes. She didn't talk with the other purebloods at her table. She mostly kept to herself and did her work. It's not like she didn't want friends. It's just she focused on work more than friend-making. She found their talk about different blood types annoying; she avoids them when necessary.

Jocelyn Longbottom

Upon hearing that they would be learning only dark magic, Jocelyn dropped her fork and turned to look at her twin brother who looked just about as shocked as she did. Her father had gone into hiding because of the witch in front of them, her name she had learned on the train was Morgana, turns out her mother had a sick sense of humor naming her after one of the most evil witches in history. Jocelyn didn't quite know what she was going to do but she knew that she wouldn't participate in dark magic. It wasn't in her nature nor was it in her wands.

There were people missing from the tables this year, most of the gryffindor quidditch team seemed to be missing but they had probably gone into hiding with their parents. Her father had told her to go to school but if she was being honest she just wanted to see him up at the teachers table and not worry that he had been found. She knew that the were looking for them but they hadn't found them, yet.

"I would like to thank you all for your attentiveness, starting tomorrow morning I will be having interviews with some of you." Morgana, the witch in bright blue spoke.

The meal was enjoyable enough and the headmaster's words were straightforward enough. It was nice seeing some of the returning students and familiar faces. Even the ones from other houses, but without further adieu, Procyon eventually made his way to dorm in Ravenclaw Tower. He stood there looking at his four poster bed. He got his area nice and decorated to his liking.

He then decided to make his way to the library to look at some books involving charms and the history of charms as well as a book or two involving runes. A class he looked forward to taking this year. He wondered if there was any interesting books on the dark arts in the forbidden section. Since they were learning the dark arts, he wondered if they'd be allowed to freely go there.

"Perhaps" He thought to himself.

Eddie continued reading after eating, not willing to leave alone, paranoid after hearing the crap about dark magic. He went back to reading a potions guide looking for an effective potion for healing. He wasn't usually paranoid as he was now but the fact that he was related to several dark wizards and witches might put a target on his back. After a minute he headed to the library in order to look for a few books he hadn't been able to bring with him.
