Being abandoned by his biological father, and his mother passing away in a house fire soon after, Connor was put into foster care at just five years old. Many people say that he was lucky enough to have been at kindergarten when the fire had occurred. Though, at such a young age, the boy could barely understand the situation. Up until now, nobody knows how the fire had happened and has been deemed an accident. A couple of months into foster care and Connor was adopted by Charles and Jennifer McCarthy. They were a happy go-to couple, looking to adopt due to being unable to conceive. They weren’t rich but nor poor, and they were able to look after him well, treating him like one of their own. They spoiled him young, but by the time Connor had started high school, they taught him to be more mature and independent. But when Connor grew old enough to understand – the questions began. He wondered why his parents never had any baby photos of him, or why they never kept his baby clothes and toys for memories as his friends' parents had. The questions continued to pile, and when he soon began to grow impatient, he asked his parents. It was then that it was revealed to him that he was actually adopted at young. Connor had no idea how to process the new information due to the fact that he had always felt like the McCarthy’s were his parents. The fact that he could barely even remember his mother, just insignificant memories that were of a blur to him. So, he decided to put all of that to the side and focus on the present. He had always been a McCarthy. Wanting to make his parents proud, Connor went to study professional policing and halfway throughout his education, he scored a job at the Harwood Heights Police Department (HHPD). Although he started at the bottom, doing nothing but serving coffee to the police officers, he eventually graduated in the top five and earned himself a badge and uniform at HHPD. But, just having a uniform and badge itself wasn’t enough, as little did he know Bill Perkins would become his own nightmare. His chief was much older and held the advantage over the young, naïve Connor. He slaved the boy around, giving him the strangest jobs to do, but as time passed; Connor accepted his fate as the chief’s errand boy, praying that in the future he will find a much better job and that his current one was just to pass time and gain experience.[/div][/div] [div class=tab4pic]

Both incomes combined, they just managed to provide for their family that soon consisted of not one, but two children. Ever since he was a child, the boy had a mischievous streak. Mostly, they were just harmless antics such as jumping on the bed when her mother told him not to, sneaking cookies out of the cookie jar, bringing home a pet that wasn't theirs... You know, normal child shenanigans. Lukas always tried to spend as much time as he could with his father because a) his dad was the coolest person in the world to him and b) he didn't see his father that much due to long work hours. His relationship with his mother and sister was great too (although Josie could get on his nerves sometimes ), but his bond with papa Fischer was something else. His father's interest in cars sparked over to Lukas and he became exceedingly passionate about them too. It even went as far as skipping class to secretly visit him at work. Except, the boy was caught before he could actually reach the garage. This was the first time that the boy had seen his mother be that mad at him. His father, however, took a much calmer approach and made a deal with Lukas to never skip class in exchange for a day in the weekend when he could join his father at work. It was an effective method and Lukas dutifully attended every day of school - until high school came along. Lukas might never admit it now, but back then, he was far more gullible. All it took was for the 'cool' kids to take him under their 'wings' and the boy, without knowing what it would truly get him into, was more than eager to join their club. This led to a very early introduction to alcohol, smoking and even small thefts. Both his parents became more and more concerned about the people he was hanging around with, but the more stern they became towards him, the more rebellious he got. To him, there was nothing wrong with his friends. They were not bullies, unlike some of the wealthy kids, and he could laugh with them. It also gained him a reputation that repelled those that sought to pick on someone. Surely, doing some small questionable things in your life wasn't that bad... right? Well, let's say that Lukas learned it the hard way. It started with some rivalry between his group of people and the more affluent side of town that had been simmering throughout high school. Of course, the rich kids thought they were superior to the lower class and weren't afraid to express that. Lukas and his friends often retaliated by pulling pranks on them. It was nothing too serious; just some surprise water showers, purposed flat tires, and publishing of embarrassing photos. This all probably was one of the reasons his car got keyed by Charlotte Hearst, but it was cool. Since she messed with his car, it was only fair he could return the 'favour'. However, instead of keying her car, Lukas just had to take a little step further and actually jack the car. Bad mistake. Thanks to his lovely sister, the head of the Hearst family found out about his actions and suddenly, his whole world was standing on the edge of being turned upside down. Power had come into play, that much was certain, because there was no way he would've been sentenced to prison if there was no bribery involved. Lukas was convinced the family used its wealth and connections to fuck over an eighteen-year-old's life and he would never forget the day his freedom was so unreasonably taken away. And for three years nonetheless. His time in prison trumps everything bad he experienced in life. It was hell. Lukas had a hard time adjusting to this life of confinement, hated how he was treated as a criminal and how matters were handled there. One of the only things that kept him going were the visits he got from both his mom and dad. Josie also visited a couple of times, but Lukas was still bitter about her snitching on him so those visits rarely lasted long. But even those cherished moments seemed to slip out of his hands. It was a Wednesday when he only found his mother during visiting hours, her expression unreadable in a way that made his stomach churn. It was that day when Lukas came to know of the reason why his father wasn't there, and probably wouldn't be anymore. It was common knowledge that his father had a fondness of smoking cigs; ever since he could remember, his father smoked. Perhaps it was a fate due, but Lukas still couldn't help but curse the world for giving his father lung cancer and his father for hiding it. It was two weeks later when his mother showed up again, this time with an expression that spoke more than words ever could. It was that day when Lukas found out he had to prepare for a funeral. One he could not attend. As if the Hearst family had not punished him enough, his request for a furlough was denied. Of course, there was no clear evidence that the family had actually something to do with it -- but he was sure of it. Those motherfuckers were powerful and cruel enough to keep him away from attending his father's funeral, just because they could. His emotions became a maelstrom, a battle between pervading numbness of losing his dad and simmering rage due to the injustice of it all. Lukas fell into depression while simultaneously cultivating a seductive desire for vengeance. His last year of prison was the hardest. Other events transpired that made him even more drawn to utter isolation and the male spent most time alone. It was clear that prison had had its own effects on him and this became even more apparent after he was released from confinement. Lukas had changed to the point that even his own family had trouble recognizing him. Instead of the rebellious but warm-hearted son and brother, there stood a far more begrudging and harsh individual. Time did manage to blunt some of his sharpest edges, but despite finding his own place in society again, he never reverted back to his old self. Her life was pretty normal; both her parents earned enough for the family to live in comfort and even though their professions kept them busy during the week, their weekends were always reserved for fun family activities. Maybe that's what made it all the more painful when he just disappeared one night - just the summer before he would go attend the police academy. Her family did not worry much when he didn't return home the following morning, thinking he probably crashed at one of his friend's places.. However, as the day went on, there was still no sign of him. Her mother started to get slightly concerned, knowing that it was nothing like her son to remain without contacting them for this long. His friends received a message to ask if he was with them, but none of them had seen Jacob as well today or last night. This is when matters became more worrisome. It was when another half a day had passed when her parents decided to inform the police and file a possible missing case. The police assured them that they would find him, but days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months without any trace. Jacob's disappearance greatly affected the family. Her mother was riddled with anguish and worry, enough so that she could no longer perform her profession and had to quit her job. Her father wanted as many distractions as possible and instead, completely buried himself in as much work as possible. Eve still bordered the realm between disbelief and denial, not wanting to even think about permanently losing Jacob, and found herself becoming increasingly frustrated at the police. Why couldn't they find him? Were they even trying anymore? Desperate to find her brother, Evelyn started to skip school and investigate herself. Her parents, however, found out about it and forbid her to go searching for him any longer. Eve had no choice but to comply, though she never stopped wondering, never stopped wanting to know what happened to Jacob. After one year and still no Jacob, the family stood at a crossroad. Living in Brighton had become painful for the family, too much reminding them about their missing son and brother. Her father was thinking about moving, somewhere to start anew. Her mother was dubious about the notion, not wanting to leave their home in case Jacob might return [ though deep down she knew it wouldn't happen ]. Evelyn was firmly against it. She didn't want to leave, not until the police had found any information about what might have happened to her brother. However, the given opportunity to work in the U.S was enough to convince her mother and against Eve's will, the family left their home country behind and migrated to Boston Massachusetts. With her old home gone and with that, also Jacob's old room, Eve felt even more distanced from her brother. In truth, she was afraid of moving on - thinking that in turn, her memories with him would also fade away. So she started to focus on one thing that she could relate back to him; his love for doing what's right and his dream to become a police officer. So yes, maybe she did change course and attended the police academy just because it made her feel more connected to him, but it also made her discover how much she liked contributing to society in this way. It felt good helping people and she would do anything to prevent people from having to go through the same thing her family had to go through. Even though it was tough, Evelyn pushed through and even managed to graduate at the top of her class. Receiving the badge and uniform still remains one of her most cherished memories. It felt euphoric and she could not help but feel like she was beginning the legacy her brother wanted to have. Evelyn worked a couple of months at the Boston Police Department, but quickly began to realize that it was not as fulfilling as she'd hoped for it to be.
