name ; Gabriel Ricardo Torres

nickname(s) ; Gabe

age ; 27

species ; Human

( squishy and susceptible )

abilities ; Graphic Design and Typing

gender ; Male

orientation ; Bisexual

occupation ; Graphic Designer, Part-time Student

bio ;

Gabriel grew up on a California farm with the dreams of living in a big city. Since he was a young kid he assisted his parents with the animals, chores, and crops. Though pleased with rural farm life, Gabriel always looked forward to the city life. Most of his life has been a picture-perfect fairy-tale. While attending high school, he took interest in computers and technology, and met the love of his life Richard in his sophomore year. Richard was a dancer from toe to heart who also shared the big city dream. Taking two jobs at a time, the two pocketed as much as they could to save for their dream destination: Brooklyn, New York City, New York. Upon their senior year the two decided to attend the same community college for a start. Gabriel found interest in computer graphics design while Richard continued to work towards his lifetime goal: becoming a world famous ballet dancer. It was a dream far too difficult to be accomplished, but dancing was enough for him, and Gabriel supported him through every step of it. They tackled community college together, and though they went to two different colleges afterwards, they still came back to the same home to crash on the couch and binge watch their favorite reality shows. They married after their first year of college for both love and financial benefits, and they moved closer to Los Angeles for the commute's sake.

Time would test them for the worst however. Things that used to be simple to handle became obstacles. They thought they had it settled down as, "We're both tired," and would be able to sleep it off. However, conflicts would rise from their agitation and Richard's newfound bizarre behavior. Gabriel tried to ignore it at first, but eventually Richard broke down about his involvement with drugs. He pushed for his husband to get help through various ways and providing as much support as he could. With the very little resources they had or could afford however Gabriel presented the idea of turning back to the rural life. His husband was against this idea. He explained how close his breakthrough was, that all he had to do was stay in the dance scene for a little while longer. Months past and nothing new came through. The breakthrough never came through, and nor did the withdraw and therapy. Becoming impatient with the lack of progress being made, Gabriel took it as a sign that their dream was dead, and packed his bags to make the big move. This initiated an argument between the two, one that Gabriel will come to regret. Richard stormed off heartbroken and it only took thirty minutes later for Gabriel to realize that he didn't mean everything he said. At three in the morning, he lost the chance to take back everything he said.

Richard's life was taken away that morning with a fatal car crash. This event two years ago ultimately prompt Gabriel to buy his one-way ticket to New York City to fulfill their lifelong dream. Though he was scared at first and continues to live in fear with his loneliness, he has managed to keep his cool by securing a job. He continues going to school to acquire various certificates to climb the ladder in his career. Though Gabriel is nestled in his own cozy apartment complex in the city, he can't help but feel as if he's being followed or watched. He tries not to let it interfere with his daily life, the nightmares and whatnot. Beyond what haunts him, he lives a particularly simple life. Neither truly outgoing or shy, he is a generous and kind neat-freak who does his best to drive his attention from one goal to the next. He does his best to out-do himself, always trying to impress the next crush or boss. While he is hard working and dedicated, he also has little threshold for annoyances, stress, and new problems. Gabriel tries to support others close to him, but he only manages so much before it causes him to become snappy. Always pushing for the next big thing, he can also be described as impatient at times. Above all else however, Gabriel does his best to put sincere thought and effort into what he does; it drives him exhausted and cranky often as much as proud and pleased of himself.

age ; 24

species ; Mana-infused Human
( human altered by magic; mana in the blood )

abilities ; Magic - for every spell cast, a consequence

gender ; Female

orientation ; Heterosexual

occupation ; Part-time Bookseller, Student

bio ;

Daughter of a university dean and a librarian, Alexandrine was raised by two bookworms in a house built by knowledge. A plethora of books leather bound and hardcover, varying from dictionaries, classic novels, and textbooks, Alexandrine's nose was buried within books the moment she learned to read. Her mother slowly pushed her to become better throughout the months, to be the golden child any scholar would dream of. On the other hand her father was far more casual with learning, reading to and with Alexandrine for the fun of it. Within the endless collection of books were some best left untouched however. Nudged into the highest shelves with golden imprints, mocking little Alexandrine, no amount of begging could get either of her parents to acquire these books; her mother would have her own agenda in mind and her father would prohibit them from being read. With an extra inch or two and a ladder, the adventurous Alexandrina got her hands on two of these books at the age of nine and hid them in her room. She would spend her late nights endlessly pouring through the pages after her parents were asleep. At first the books were bizarre to her, they didn't make sense, but soon enough she felt a rapid connection and click, an understanding. Though it wouldn't take long for her to be caught with these books by her father, the damage was already done, and he opened up to her about a little secret of his own. It was then that the sigils and the scripts made sense: she awakened the blood passed down by her father, the blood of a magician.

For four years she studied alongside her mother and father for two different categories: education and magic. Her mother never had to have a clue about what studies Alexandrine's father was raising her on. For as long as their precious child continued to academically out-perform across the board she didn't have to know. Studying and practicing magic seemed harmless at first, and she had a difficult understanding her father's warnings of limiting her casts to only times of need. After multiple, various incidents of catching chills, running a fever, developing partially bark-like skin, and more, Alexandrine learned of her father's warning. Magic was not a simple toy or a tool. Casting too much magic of a particular kind would influence her appearance, manipulating bits of her, and left her a reminder of lost humanity. Therefore she would have to be careful, and to absolutely, no matter what, not let any normal mortal know of her magical abilities, for only worse things would come from it. As she advanced into honors in her classes and participated in after-school activities, becoming the perfect child in her mother's eyes, her father helped Alexandrine work through all his magical knowledge. Once he taught her all he could the two started projects together soon enough. The projects became a short time thing however. Her father disappeared one snowy evening when she was 20 with no trace to be found. Both her mother and self were devastated, but have managed to keep themselves together through the storm.

Nowadays, she is a proud holder of a bachelor's degree in physics and taking a term break before she begins tackling either another bachelor's or starting on her master's degree. Alexandrine works part-time at a bookstore and has attempted to pick up learning guitar to detach herself from constant spell casting. She can't help to dab into it however, and as a result she always finds some way to cover up the damage. While she comes off as a neat and tidy individual, she tends to have sloppy work spaces and desks, with 'organized' defined as 'was it where I left it?'; her sloppy home habits best stem from her studies in magic. Confident and to an extent cocky, she walks like a queen and thinks she can do it all, albeit with a little bit of mind and magic. On the flip-side she is considerably lonesome. Although she may know a thousand faces and their names, she fears being manipulated, extorted, and tempted. That doesn't keep her emotions capped, understanding that she is emotionally vulnerable, but does give her the vibe to fight or flight. Due to her investment in both magic and science, her morals are to a degree questionable. As for being studious and focused on her work, she doesn't get out as often as she liked, or better said, that she's missed out on plenty of slumber parties, enjoyable proms, and road-trips with friends. At least she still has the family's oriental short hair tabby Sachs.
