This isn’t a specific trope but… When there’s an interest check for a fairly niche idea and then suddenly after it’s posted more start to pop up? I don’t join those others. I mean sure it may be a coincidence but I’m too cynical to believe that.
I know a lot of people draw a hardline at using real people faceclaims for various reasons. I dont draw this same line, however for me it crosses the line when the face claim is not famous. As in, the pictures have clearly been lifted from an instagram or tiktok account. Maybe they’re famous in...
I've really been craving Applachian horror lately. Wendigos, skinwalkers, other monsters, old nature gods awakened to punish humans for their sins. I feel like there's a lot there but I don't exactly have the time to do it by myself... Maybe in the future.
I get somewhat aggravated seeing people reboot the same idea over and over and over again with no sign that they've actually changed as a GM and will truly commit to the RP idea. It seems like people are more interested in setting up the interest check and the discord OOC than actually keeping...
I’m start to get very tired of sending messages to people in response to recruitment threads. It’s honestly like applying for a job. You have to type out a “nice” first message in order to “prove” yourself at first glance to the reader. Then you have to sit and hope you get a response. I don’t...
I think this would make a fine setting. Magic boarding school settings tend to be fairly popular among a certain demographic. You would need to develop your own plot though (in my opinion). The synopsis is fine as a novel because we don't mind focusing on one person as the center of the action...
More inclusive, yea perhaps. But if you go too far you run into the issue of forcing your players into too much of a creative corner. I don’t mind predetermined roles so long as they’re general enough. But if they’re too general then you run into the same issues I detailed above.
I admit, I can...
To be honest, I typically don’t like to do this. Especially in group RPs with a lot of people. For this reason I tend to skew towards ideas where the characters did not know each other beforehand. Perhaps I just have had bad experiences where the members are all homies so they’re pumped about...
An interesting thing to make a comeback I’ll admit. Though they seem to have calmed down a lot. I remember there used to be several “passwords” to trap the skimmer and one real password buried somewhere random in the lore. pls don’t do this
I dislike this but for a different reason. I don’t like the idea of something being 1 or 2 stars. Like... If you don’t want to RP the idea then don’t put it up ?? It’s in the same vein of people putting “I don’t like to do X but maybe you can convince me”.
I typically ignore it unless it’s a comment that the person tends to ghost RPs. I’ve been badmouthed before and had to hear about it second hand, really helps to open your eyes that there will always be more than one side to the story. Further sullying someone’s reputation isn’t really worth it.
Yes, this is exactly the sort of thing I mean. Especially if you’re someone like me who does at most 3 replies a week, the RP is going to CRAWL if you RP like this (which is becoming the norm).
Ok I don’t think I’ve posted here in a bit but. Some more unpopular opinions for you.
We need to increase the level of controlling others’ characters that is acceptable. So many times RPs get into a stale mate because people are so afraid of making another character do something, so the RP is...
In my opinion, you should first work on summarizing the idea. Most people aren’t going to want to hunt down a pdf and for the few that do, reading 10 pages to grasp a concept will likely be a turn off.
Though I will say, just from your brief description it sounds more like a forum game than a...
Not to intrude, but that quite literally is what was initially said. I will admit, the position has yielded slightly since the discussion began and I do agree with the overall point. The focus should be on the word, with aesthetics coming second. And when aesthetics hinder the understanding of...
