Viewpoint Importance of “Self” in Character Creation - How similar are you to your character?

Most if not all of my characters have some aspect of me in them, I think. I moved around a lot as a kid and it made me really shy in my tweens/teens, but when I was younger I was super duper outgoing and extroverted - I knew everyone and was friends with pretty much all of my classmates. Then...

Experiences "I always match my partner"

I've NEVER tried to match my partners response at all. The most I'll do is make a post shorter if they give me something shorter but tbh I feel bad if people think they have to match me?? Like no you don't have to, just write what your comfortable writing!! I sometimes worry I write too much and...

Experiences Where did you roleplay before you came to RPNation?

I started on a forum that wasn't even for roleplaying called dragoncave forums (it was an extension of a dragon collecting site pfff)!! Actually was pretty popular on it :')) then I moved to deviantArt for a while and joined some groups before I decided I wanted to try a different site, since I...

Experiences Whats making you angry today? Rp pet peeves

not necessarily something that's bothering me today, but something that bothers me is when people don't read my character sheets :'(( i know sometimes i write a lot for backstory but it's not THAT noticeable when people don't read that and tbh i don't care that much if people don't read that...

Experiences Whats making you angry today? Rp pet peeves

Hi there! GM here c: I wanted to give my own opinion on this, since I feel like its somewhat important to talk about. I believe that most GM's do this because they're looking for the right characters and people to fit into what they want for their roleplay. I think that someone else mentioned...

Advice/Help Heart Broken - should I give up on a muse?

I'm a bit confused by what exactly SL and LI mean - would you mind explaining what those are for me? ;;; I'm not familiar with those terms at all! :0 I do agree with what the person above me said, though. It's better to just talk it over with your partner, especially if you two are friends...

    Advice/Help I'm Facing A Writing Dilemma

This!! Sounds like a very interesting idea!! Thank you for addressing my concern, as it was really what was bugging me the most, but I still think it'd be in your best interest to make your own characters. It's always fascinating when people create murderers or serial killers, because then...

    Advice/Help I'm Facing A Writing Dilemma

I really feel like this is all because you simply didn't mention that the Heralds would be DEAD characters, and would just be referenced. I still feel like if you'd included that in your first post you wouldn't have people getting on you about this. I also have one point of contention with your...

    Advice/Help I'm Facing A Writing Dilemma

I understand not wanting to give too much of the plot away, completely. But if people don't have all of the information, they're going to not know where you're really coming from and then you'll end up dealing with a lot of negativity. I also agree that using serial killers as ACTIVE characters...

    Advice/Help I'm Facing A Writing Dilemma

Can I just note that you didn't mention that the Heralds in your story are past criminals? Unless I totally missed it, but I don't think I did. You should have said that in your idea and then people might be more understanding!
