I think I'm much better at writing conversation on the fly. I think I'm pretty good at writing descriptions if I have time like preparing a scene ahead of play time. I get caught up in not making someone wait too long when I need to suddenly write a description of a person or place.
This is often the secret motivation for philanthropy and otherwise kind acts. It's a way to give yourself value 'outside' of yourself instead of internalizing a sense of worth.
Appearance and stats usually come pretty easily. I get tangled when I create a character for something specific.
I don't want to let the story idea determine everything about their history and personality, but I struggle with avoiding that so much that I end up with a character that I have to...
Yes, the one DnD campaign I played had a odd evolution, and my character ended up becoming a real person.
My TT group did WoD, and I really much prefer a story-driven campaign. Everyone but me had played DnD in the past and wanted to take a break from WoD. I was fine trying it. Another group...
I haven't done a lot of fandom RP, but what little I did, at the most had 'monster of the week' cannon characters. For example, some Smallville and Charmed RP where some of the characters were 1-episode features. It was better for not falling into the trap of either the Cannon Main dominates or...
I'm only interested in chat interactions, so I make that very clear and look for that specification from someone else. Clear communication over standards, limitations, an expectations is how to prevent these problems. I've never done the forum thing, but I can see how holding everyone up for 2...
It's pretty funny, but it's real how WoD players tend to look down on everyone else, especially DnDers. MY TT group definitely did, even though all but me had played DnD in the past. In the online WoD chats where I started, there was constant mocking of how geeky DnDers were, as if we weren't...
Right? I love the adaptation of real folklore. They created a really rich world, even without all the other games involved (which are as rich with different tones). There's still a lot of love for the WoD games. I still make fanart of my characters and they get recognition drifting out among the...
That's also part of the confusion. Classic World of Darkness was huge, and I think there's still a large audience that still remembers it fondly, and there are still online RP chats and forums for it as well as LARP communities that are still active. C:tD was the least popular of the core games...
Yeah, you kind of stumbled into a mess. I love the 'classic'WoD games, but the company has been horribly managed for a while. They take leaps (like 'new'WoD), then backtrack, and they just got their self-determination taken away. They've recently resurrected the cWoD system. The cWoD and nWoD...
I spent years on active group chats, and that's my natural space for online RP. However those were easier to keep track of being older systems where scrolling wasn't live. I've happily restarted my RP hobby on Discord, and it's got the same feeling of being actively engaged real-time. Though...
Someone got me out of retirement for an interesting concept where we were going to play multiple characters, each. After agreeing to an intergenerational interaction, they kept pushing my character older. I was thinking 40... but they kept pushing it older in OOC after we started with some other...
I don't go looking for someone to train, nor is the idea attractive. However, others trained me, and there are circumstances where I'd train someone I already knew.
I've RPed pretty consistently in the World of Darkness. I've never recycled a character, but I've used a character in more than one game (sequentially, not in the same IC time), even a 'prequel' during one's teen years that wasn't likely to affect his adult life greatly. After a partner flaked...
My character's boyfriend's player decided to switch bodies. The bf was a Fallen (WoD), so it happens. I guess he wanted to shake things up. Unfortunately, I really wasn't into the new body/character. Their relationship suffered. I felt like the strangest kind of 'shallow' in a disassociated way...
Yeesh.
Not needed by me. But you quoted me, so...
Well, I don't crowdsource my opinions and gratification, so...
I didn't think you were implying I'd play a literal sex doll, but your tone was snide enough (and common enough on such topics) that I did infer an accusation about misogyny at...
Back in the old White Wolf chats, we used the term "twinky" for anyone who was using every possible exception to every rule so they could play overly-unique character types. Like a winged cyborg fairy stands out. Technically, some discrepencies between character systems allowed for it, but no...
Well, I'm gay, so I don't think of women as sex dolls nor do I have any interest in roleplaying a female sex doll. So, maybe there's a more complex thinking process behind my statement. Just maybe... ;)
I'm quite active collaborating with authors and beta-reading for one of the interactive...
