I tend to remake a good amount of my characters for different kinds of Role-Plays, if they can be altered without losing their original basis. Otherwise, I tend to just create new characters for a lot of things I do.

I agree with the others above, Google Docs is an absolute life saver when it comes to keeping information in one place. Not to mention, you can use it on the go, which makes it easier, in a sense, to write down random ideas you may have.
