I think the thing is that 1x1s by nature tend to crop up players wanting characters to enter intimate relationships. A need to dive deeper than just platonic friendship which is why theres a distinct lack of those in the 1x1 section.
Also to add on in case you dont know about any of those 3 shows.
Log Horizon is another I got sent to a parallel world show. But instead its a bunch of gamers who wake up in the world of the RPG they all play called Log Horizon and it follows the exploits of the Guild Master who made the group...
Yeah agree with Idea on this. As its not the choice I would prefer. But I'll give you some reasons why you should go with focusing on the game itself. It feels incredibly rare that anyone writing about games actually focuses on the game itself. Which is really disappointing because there are...
Also the main problem with women in a straight combat scenario is that womens biology works against them in many ways. Mens bodies are designed to throw around weight more easily since they have larger arms and legs. Which means more mass behind every kick, punch, slash and stab which means more...
Yeah that last bit 100%. Its been kind of a pain to explain to people in the RP I used to run that simply being stronger isnt the end all be all. Being a smarter fighter can and will at times beat raw strength. But strength does matter nonetheless. Especially in a straight combat scenario like...
We are talking about a magical girl attempting to a fight a full armor plated knight right? Kind of an odd strawman to say if she had a gun then she would win. Of course she would lmao. But objectively speaking if she challenges the knight to a hand to hand combat duel without pulling any...
To add to this list. Shazam also had a great character arc with mommy issues too. Also on a similar note Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 did this story pretty well too with daddy issues.
Ngl this should have been a /thread ages ago.
At the end of the day this is all about how you and the GM decide to write the fight and what the result should be. And if you enjoyed it. Who gives a shit about realism. Hollywood doesnt. Most books dont. Comics pssh dont get me started.
Real...
oh my just pull off a pro gamer move and beat the knights already. roll a natural 20 and call it a day when you one shot their sorry asses with a crit fire ball.
Well it really depends on your criteria as a GM. Do you particularly care if you have a diverse group of personalities. If you dont then yeah the personality section doesnt matter. I've personally never cared about having diverse groups as my criteria for character submission has always revolved...
Absolutely take advantage of your range if you're a wizard. That's kind of the name of the game for that class unless you're something like a battle mage that uses magic to boost close range combat techniques. Also another thing to note is that a staff is still a blunt weapon and fully capable...
Yeah, this stuff is part of the reason why for a long time I only did Fandom RPs (the other being lack of interesting in anything else) Fandom groups seem to always agree on making characters related to the established setting, it's like an unwritten rule almost. I really only ran into this...
Yeah that's true. I think at the end of the day, the guy probably wanted a way to be a martial artist in the setting by any means necessary lmao. Which yeah is definitely in the category of out of place in the setting.
I mean Fist of the North Star and Into The Badlands are all pretty fricking lit post apocalyptic stories with martial arts. Just need the right backstory and reason to be a martial arts master in an apocalyptic wasteland.
I've said this in other threads but whenever I've GM'd I've made it a point to never require a personality section and even encourage players to skip over it. The personality section as I see it absolves players of the responsibility to write with a voice unique to the character they are playing...
A lot of young people just expect people 25+ to be "grown up" and while yeah we have more personal responsibilities with work, paying the bills, etc. we're still people with our own interests. Part of being adult is balancing all those things and living your best life.
In particular with the Royal Court idea. How me and my former Co-GM got around central players leaving and creating a power vacuum was having those spots be based on an in-universe meritocracy. Where the next highest ranked characters would be promoted into those positions. Or as of now there...
I agree with a lot of the sentiment here. Writing good cosmic horror is already hard enough in the first place. Finding other people who can also do it and having them conveniently in one place to collaboratively write a story is an impossible task.
Helsing would be definitely up your alley then for real (probably why your friend keeps recommending it lmao). In that case other good series to check out would be Gantz and maybe Inuyashiki. As well as a bunch of other good Seinen shows like Darker than Black, Vinland Saga, and Dororo. While...
