There are some serious horror stories here...
The worst I had was probably a pokemon RP that I was the GM of. It was based around two gijinka tribes and the feud between them resulting from conflicting views on normal humans. Everything started out alright. We had a decent variety of...
As a GM I always found it difficult to be hard on my players and tell them if they were doing something wrong. I couldn't reject people either, even if their CS clearly showed that they would not be suited for the RP. I didn't even want to confront them if they had been absent for long periods...
I found that the best method for me to use was being strict in the beginning then stepping back a little and allowing the other players freedom to explore. I have a fantasy based RP that's been going for over a year now (I'm so proud ;^;) and still have the core group I started with. We are a...
I feel like almost all characters can be irritating. It just depends on how they're played. The exact same character sheet could be used by two different players and have vastly different results.
Quiet characters can be dull and contribute nothing, or they can be full of mystery, making you...

I have't ever reused the exact same character. When I first started, I would have a (very) basic character which always had the same name which I would add on to depending on the RP...
Thank you all for your input!
Just to clarify - since it seems to be causing some confusion - I see it almost as if the main RP thread is like the movie set which the characters are actors in. The "tavern" IC chat is just where they go to chill when they aren't busy. I understand that...
So, for an RP I recently started, I was considering the idea of a casual little IC chat. Like a tavern for when the characters are "off of set", so to speak. Everyone would still be in character, but it would just be little interactions. Statement and response, single line stuff.
Since my RP...
