I care a lot, especially when the people around me are writing essays every single post. The only problem is sometimes I can't come up with more than like 3 sentences and some dialouge without it just being full of needless fluff. Other times hundreds of words come incredibly easily.

No that's the definition of a trope. Clichés have been so overused they no longer really have a meaning and are often there just because. Your description was very much that of tropes
"An Orphan just because" the character is an orphan, but that has almost no impact on their personality or background. It was most likely done to avoid RPing parents.
