Another day, another annoyance. Here we go again.
When people make loads of assumptions OOC when you haven't even started yet!
When we're five or ten pages in, sure. Then we've established each others writing styles and characters, and then you can start making assumptions. But if in the...
I have tried that, but normally they just tend to ghost my character until it seems kind of pointless carrying on. They pretty much create what I've dubbed as the "bi allies" due to having seen it so much, where all the bi characters have this really close nit group but everyone else is left in...
I kind of have this when I do fandom role plays where their character has some really random (and really good) power that was inferred through one line and was unique to that circumstance.
"Yeah, so I know they only had this mind connect due to a list of eventualities as long as my arm in...
I usually make quite sheltered/conservative characters, as my more "liberal" characters usually end up as a toxic Trainwreck (I'm not sure why, it's just something I've noticed) so it usually makes all the LGBT characters flee away from them like they have the black death or something. As such...
When everyone in the role play is bisexual or gay. I get it, it's their character, but when there's twenty five characters my one straight girl is feeling a little lonely. I'm not suggesting that people need to make characters just to date mine, but it's just something that bugs me.
I was pretty offended too, but likely for a different reason. Why is it okay to say "I don't want to role play with guys" and yet if you said that about anyone else it's be more of an issue?
Fair enough, sometimes I prefer to have my character make friends with a small group of Canon characters (say the golden trio or the court of dreams - corney name I know) and keep it platonic so the Canon relationships can play out.
Yeah, that can be an annoying issue where they refuse to acknowledge that their Canon crush would likely despise their self insert, but sometimes they can be talked round. You also get this when people want really weird ships though, as sometimes it either completely breaks from character...
That's true, but it is possible to set out in doing a romance role play only for the characters to have no chemistry at all.
It's part of the reason I prefer Canon x OC - there's far less chance of this happening, as you can look at your character and go "yeah they'd likely mix with x", but...
Same. It really annoys me when two characters blatantly aren't compatible (at least romantically) in their current form, and yet people keep trying to shoehorn them together.
My favourite characters to play are dark, manipulative and (at best) morally ambiguous and yet they try to pair them up...
I have a few troupes and ideas I love to explore, including:
Possessive parents/lovers. My characters are usually under the thumb of someone so possessive it borders on obsession, and they EVENTUALLY realize this isn't the way to be. It's really hard to get someone to role play it but damn it's...
I don't think dating is the only reason why this might be, but I will concede it is sometimes the motivation behind such a statement.
Some role players believe that people play characters of their own gender the best, and thus add the whole "please be the same irl gender as your character"...
I do kind of get it, as I have this with FXF roleplays - I translate it to meaning that "it's not my preference, but I'll go for it if there's a really good plot I feel I can engage with".
Maybe it doesn't mean the same for others, but I'll admit, it does throw me off slightly if I see it in a...
Personally, I quite like it. Especially within the Harry Potter verse, but less so with other fandoms. But I'll admit it does have it's flaws.
Flaws:
Drastic changes to the character:
This one is common when having Canon characters involved generally, not just in OCxCanon. And admittedly, I...
