I play about once every two weeks or so, typically a 2000 point match. Maptools is fantastic for 40k. I created a framework that handles unit stats and die rolling, and the game already measures distance automatically and allows you to attach profiles to each model. It's easy to tell at a glance what model is what, what their stats are and what their wargear is.
