Thank you! It's a quote from one of my favorite shows right now. An abridged version of one of the protagonist's monologues. It was one of my favorite scenes, so I figured I should share it.
Yeah. It runs in "parts," and each part has a different protagonist and different story that loosely connects to previous parts (think American Horror Story's structure.) It really lives up to the "bizarre" in its name, but it's the type of bizarre that just has you both gasping in shock while simultaneously going "what will they think of next?"
I hope you enjoy! I'd only give you these few tips going in: 1. while the community is the best kind of meme-spewing trash, and I love 'em for it, they also have a real nasty tendency to spoil everything. It doesn't really ruin the experience, but if that kinda thing really bothers you, be careful when discussing it with people if you haven't finished (or even going near people who are talking about it.)
2. Parts 1-4 of the manga have currently been made into an anime, but parts 5-8 have not (they likely will be eventually, but not yet.) This isn't that bad, as each part is a self-contained story (so it's not like they just leave you hanging,) just letting you know that if you finish watching and you want more, it's definitely out there.
3. The trick to this show is don't take it too seriously. It's very engaging and suspenseful, but if you try to analyze it too deeply, you'll find a lot of flaws (the mangaka is notorious for writing the story as he goes, so he often just retcons details in the middle of the story or completely forgets about previous things that would have changed everything.) So just sit back and let it sweep you away.
4. Some will suggest that you skip boring parts, given that each part is self-contained. I'd highly advise against this. While yes, each story can be read on their own, they also DO all contain references and threads from other parts woven into them. So while you could certainly understand what's going on if you skipped a part or two, you will miss out on a lot of the emotional weight, as well as detailed context.
5. Part one (Phantom Blood) is considered to be the worst part of them all. It only lasts 9 or 10 episodes of season one, so I do encourage you to give the show a chance if it doesn't immediately grab your attention. Phantom Blood is still good, but it is nowhere near the quality of the rest of the show. Give it a chance
Sorry for the wall of text, I'm really passionate about this show!
