At least they gave you 1000 lol. If you believe they broke their contract, you should take em to court

Well I'm trying to buy a vehicle so I can get out of my house and get a new job. The vehicle I have now breaks down a lot. Yes, I made $1000 but $2000 could of gotten me enough money to buy the vehicle that I wanted without having to take out a loan...

Did they promise 2 grand?

From the meeting I went to yes. Apparently the person running the internship said no in private and only provided 1 thousand... If I was told that I wouldn't be making 2 thousand I would of turned it down immediately because I need to make money so I can move... I'm so pissed off that I can't stop crying.

If you didn't get it in writing, then take this as a lesson and move on.

I'm sorry that happened. :( But it is true that you should ask for things like that in writing. If they don't OFFER it in writing to begin with, then they're not serious about it. Still, that's very rude of them.

Not a lawyer, but I know some shit. They're giving you bad legal advice...you can get a lawyer to sue for breach of verbal contract and you can win. Look up what information you need to have and bring it in, and be armed with your states' definition of fraud as well (if you live in the US).

Because you're very poor, be aware that you probably won't get the amount in full, even if you do sue, and because legal fees are high, find a lawyer who will work pro bono. (That means free.)

I think there are a few firms that make their legal employees complete a certain amount of pro bono hours in order to be considered for partnership. If you can find one of those, you may find someone more willing to take your case...GOOD LUCK

Yeah I live in the US. I worked with the Forest Service though through an internship. I'm sure their lawyers are way better than one I can hire... I'm only 17 and don't have much. I don't think my parents want me to do anything. I just wish they weren't pissed at me.

Again, you can get a pro bono lawyer through several avenues other than just the one listed above. But the one listed above provides at least one lawyer on a partnership track, so if you go to a good firm, that should mean they're good.

Thank you for trying to help. It means a lot... I felt stupid... Still do since I didn't think about them writing about the $2000.

They don't have to write it for it to be legally binding. Oral contracts in the presence of a witness are legally binding in most states. Most lawyers will give you a consultation for free. Your verbal agreement-- the one you AGREED to-- was for a price of 2 grand for your services. 1 thing
