haha well instead of '"Hello," he said', people seem to prefer '"Hello." He said.' (in what alternate reality are dialogue tags structured like that) and I must say that has usurped comma splices in my grammatical pet peeves :P

...or, possibly worse, they do use a comma before the dialogue tag, yet capitalize the pronoun when it isn't a proper noun - '"Hello," He said.' pet peeves abound.

>0> This does seem triggering. Although, I would personally use the comma if he's gonna say shit straight after. If he's just gonna say hello, then you can just end it with a period.

Yeah, but you can't then put "He said." as a sentence afterwards, which is what people do. Eg:
"Hello." He said.

Maybe, "Hello." He greeted.

...you know that's not proper usage of dialogues tags, right? You don't end the dialogue with a period and then use a dialogue tag as a standalone clause...
