Ahah, I totally agree.
I'm just trying to get into the mind of a character a lost last year.
I'd love to write with him again but he's... still missing.
I thought maybe recreating his nature might spark something!

I usually come up with things on the spot


maybe you could base a second character off of what you remember of the first! So not the same, but improved!

All of his story, which is on my blog so I guess I can just re-read it, came from a place of free-writing and lucidity. Coming up with things on the spot can be incredibly exhilarating.
