The RPers I'm with are around (I can tell because of the "Last seen _____ time" status) but seem to either not know they are needed, saw the post and forgot, or just plain not responding.

You can try asking them via PM, before doing anything rash. If they still have the Last Seen ___ Time, and they haven't responded to your PM, it's best to just remove those individuals, and re-start an interest check.

I've been using the interest checks a lot. But none have peeked my interest. I have an understanding of most all fandoms to be able to participate, but there is only a few that I really like the concept of to like an RP with

It may be best to create an RP, or to develop an RP that has the main concepts you enjoy.

(You all type way too fast. By the time I get done answering, you've already moved on.)

I do PM them, and they do respond saying they'll get a post up, which they do. But then they go back into that super long delay again.

Ultimatums are great.

"Listen here, kiddo. You tell me why this isn't fun anymore or I bash your fuckin' 'ead in like a bag of rusty spoons."

"I don't think you can bash a bag of rusty spoons-"

"I'M BRAYING!! EEEYYOONKEEYYOONKEEEYOOONK"

I have made an RP like that, but it's on the verge of dying because of the lack of responses

I can't help that I type/respond fast; however, it may be easier to just do one big message, so all your points are put into place. That's the problem with Fandom RP, unless someone is super invested into the fandom, they'll quit/be lazy once the novelty runs off. It's the same for any other RP, unless you allow the roleplayers to make a difference in the fandom world. Maybe some world-building, or plot-development roleplayer choices?

I don't think I have the creative brain for that. However I do think that if your going to join an RP, you should be prepared to be there till the end. Other wise you leave a soul crushing feeling to the creator when you kill it by leaving.

we only give a shit about ourselves.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the obligation of staying with an RP till the end, since life happens, and there's no deadline for when the RP ends. Now this may not apply to you, if you've stated a deadline for your RP, but it's difficult to keep people for the rest of their lifespan into an RP.
Latios

The whole point of Role Playing is to work together to create a story that fulfills the fantasies of both/all RPers. If your not willing to work with the other RPers, then don't even bother joining.
JRPG
JRPG
If on that point, then I agree with you. However, not everyone's idea may pertain to the group/world, so unless you allow freeform, it's difficult to ensure everyone's fantasies are fulfilled.

In my RP I have a set plot the will eventually have an ending. I get life happens and am willing to wait for thing to pass. The RP will eventually have an end, but only if people stick around. I don't care how long it takes to get there, as long as it happens and does not die. Life can't be avoided, I've had my own problems and had to postpone for a short while.

I often change my own system to help suit others, but others must bend a little as well. Other wise instead of me not being able to fulfill their wishes, they don't fulfill mine.

Unfortunately, waiting may be the only way for an RP to end the way you want it, unless you want to use workarounds like post deadline limits, and NPCing/killing off inactive characters.
Latios
Latios
And I find waiting acceptable, as long as they don't disappear completely. I often ask that others give heads up that they are busy so I don't get made and drop them off. Other wise I can't know if they are leaving or can't get around
JRPG
JRPG
I'd just set a way to know if they are leaving, or can't get around by using PMs, since they let you know if they've read it or not.

I give reminders with tags in the OOC chat, I give profile status updates, I also do PMs, basically anything to get their attention and get clarification
JRPG
JRPG
Yeah, if they ignore all that. It's probably best to remove them from the RP, or to NPC there characters if that's necessary to advance the plot.
