now, all I need is a plot, but I want a plot that encourages a lot of drama and somewhat action packed adventurous

maybe a plot involving one of the many movements happening at the time? b/c seriously there were so many movements in the 1960s. feminism, civil rights etc. or something more dramatic?
if you want my opinion (idk why you would but you're getting it anyway) the plot should maybe focus on a group of people. that way all the characters can be tied together somehow. just a suggestion though. i suck at plot. character writing is my main skill.

No, no. I am going to have it so it focuses on nothing but a group of 6 or 8. 3-4 males and females each. mainly because idk who all would be interested in the idea itself
I was also going to use one of the movements, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it normal or spice it up with a bit of sci-fi. if i was going to spice it up with sci-fi, i wasn't going to have it so they're already experiencing these changes. more like we preview their lives before the action takes place, and once it does pop-up they have to try to juggle both events
one of the movements and then the reaction to the climatic change
it encourages both the character and the person behind the character to really think about how the situation should be dealt with

anything sounds good to me, miss marianne! you are positively brimming over with good ideas, which is pretty impressive to a pathetic writer like myself. i would be okay with taking this to PMs however i'm worried my time difference will be a problem. it is 10pm here and i need to sleep soon b/c i have plans tomorrow. if my stupid time zone is going to be a problem, i am comfortable with just joining the roleplay and not co-gming. but i am really interested in your roleplay!
