hmm i always assumed it'd just be lycanthropes, but vampires might have a secret society as well? maybe

Okay. Well since it's in the future, let us say a child from the wilderness was found. She was unconscious and laying in the forest floor with a wound (bite). It was big and messy and just looks really bad. She was sent into a hospital, doctors couldn't diagnose the girl who was still unconscious. Her wound keeps getting bigger and bigger. Scientists were called and they studied the wound. They found out that it's a bite of an animal, an animal which they haven't discovered yet and is living in the forest. Identity checks were made but they couldn't identify the girl.
More studies for the wound was funded by the government, more scientists started to join as they got interested. The girl stayed unconscious but never showed signs of dying.
Then the girl started to change, grey fur started to appear, fast. They were confused. Then the girl woke up, her eyes dilated and yellow. Her feet and hands started to change into paws, her spine cracked and popped, bending until she was hunched into a 4 legged animal. Her teeht, especially her canines, started to grow longer and sharper. She was wrapped in grey fur. She looked like a dog but bigger, more vicious, and thick fur. She was vicious, she started to make a mess, running around the lab, biting some of the scientist. They managed to inject a chemical on the animal, it sprawled into the floor, its appearance changing to the unconscious girl. But now, she no longer have the wound.
It became more confusing.
The bitten scientists were held on chambers, experimented. Taken their bloods, and studying. The girl was also taken to a chamber and made her unconscious lest she changes into that animal again and injures more people.
The results of the bite to the scientists were awful and scary. The wound keep getting bigger and bigger by the minute, weakening the scientist. After 5 hours, the scientists died. 2 hours after, the scientists were now the same animal as the girl was. The same viciousness, the same sppearance, the same cravings for death. They scratched on the chamber walls, trying to get out. After 6 hours, they were back on human form. The scientists remembered what happened clearly. The transformstion hurt so much, they said. They had sharp, yellow sight, very sensitive hearing and smelling. They can smell blood, human blood, which is tangy and sweet. They were so famished, as if they have never eaten for 1 year. They wanted to eat the human scientists.
These ideas traumatized some of the scientists while some still stayed sane. Two days after, one scientist killed himself.
Experiment and research went on without the knowledge of the media or the citizens. It was only between the government and the scientists, it was confidential. Until their last scientist-patient started to do crazy things and managed to escape and started biting people.
It was called lycanthropy. A disease that can be acquired through a bite of an animal called wolf. The wound affects the nervous system fast. In one hour, it will cause you to be something inhumane, an animal who kills and eats humans.
The government hired hunters to sought these wolves. With the enough research data gathered over the years, they made weapons that can fatally kill them.
